Man or woman?

Today, at work, a customer called in and asked me to read off every item on our menu, along with their ingredients. I work at Jamba Juice so that's a lot of reading. After about 10 minutes of this, I found out it was actually my stupid co-worker calling from the back phone. FML

I agree, your life sucks (26709) - you totally deserved it (6148)

Lmao. That sucks. Did you not think about hanging up?

Sad thing is that some customers are that stupid! I spend all day on the phone to customers who really would call up for this sort of thing.
Next time, he'll be rude to the caller and it'll be a genuine customer. Sucks to be in customer service!

#9 - On 07/18/2009 at 6:59am by lizzzie

Yeah, so totally right, that's definitely the smartest thing to do, since you'll probably get fired right away if your boss finds out.

-_-

#15 - On 07/18/2009 at 7:50am by _Noon_

He deserves it for being so gullible.

#48 - On 07/27/2009 at 2:42pm by missmeliss0309

LOL it sucks to be you, but that hilarious

#2 - On 07/18/2009 at 6:42am by mrbattleman

You should have walked over and made him/her read it back to you, or, wait a week and pull the prank back from your home.

YDI for not recognizing your co-worker's voice.

#6 - On 07/18/2009 at 6:50am by DirtyParkBench

i have to agree with #6 he is right, you should have recognised his voice

#13 - On 07/18/2009 at 7:19am by sf_killer

idk, some peoples voice over the phone sound a lot different than if you were talking to them in person

#23 - On 07/18/2009 at 10:19am by FDXCpinballwiz

Haha that sucks! Did you not recognise their voice..?

#7 - On 07/18/2009 at 6:51am by AnneFTW

You don't think he would have thrown his voice? I would. FY posts for not thinking before you type.

#8 - On 07/18/2009 at 6:56am by fishyfingaz

Have a relive come in to the restraunt, then have him do somthing like prepare all the food so they can try a sample. Then leave a monopoly money tip :D

#11 - On 07/18/2009 at 7:18am by halolord01

Sure you might not have recognized your co-workers voice... I can see it happening, but why didn't you ask the 'customer' to just come in the store? Or look on your website? Couldn't you ask a specific question like, "Are you allergic to anything?" I wouldn't have spent ten minutes on that.

Another thought... If you're on the phone, and your co-worker's in the back... who was minding the counter/register? I hardly ever see a Jamba Juice with three workers at once, and if so, you'd notice one of them missing that long.

Plus...
How many customers know the number to your location anyway?

#12 - On 07/18/2009 at 7:18am by redbluegreen

I know the number to my local Jamba Juice plus you can find that sort of thing online or in a phone book. And if it's found in a phone book it's possible that the person who found it didn't know where to look on the website, couldn't access the website, or is just lazy. Thus they call.

The coworker thing is true though.

#24 - On 07/18/2009 at 10:22am by ManiMartinixo

Tell your stupid boss that your coworker doesn't have enough work to do.

#14 - On 07/18/2009 at 7:46am by aback

That's what I would do, for sure :D

#16 - On 07/18/2009 at 7:58am by _Noon_

hahaha.

#36 - On 07/18/2009 at 6:03pm by HELLOASHLEYLYNN

You wouldn't recognize your coworker's voice, and you actually would read them the entire menu?

Let's use some common sense bro. You're bad for their business.

#17 - On 07/18/2009 at 8:35am by premiermois

ROTFL

#18 - On 07/18/2009 at 8:39am by KyriKryptonite

Hahaha fail

#19 - On 07/18/2009 at 9:05am by picturetaker

Why would you actually read off the entire menu? You say, "I'm sorry, we're too busy for me to do that right now, but here's our website."

#21 - On 07/18/2009 at 9:38am by disney_blonde

YDI for working at Jamba Juice.

#22 - On 07/18/2009 at 9:40am by iBimmer

We should totally like call all the Jamba Juices in California and ask them to read the menu xD

#25 - On 07/18/2009 at 10:28am by _Noon_

looks like your the stupid one here.

#26 - On 07/18/2009 at 10:38am by doubled_s

im was the shift supervisor at Maggie's Moos and I do this shit ALL the time.

#27 - On 07/18/2009 at 11:19am by jd254

U dumbass I woulda told him to research it then hung up

#28 - On 07/18/2009 at 11:20am by KiddNYC10

@Anyone Who Said Hang Up, Thats the most dumb thing to do in that situation cause it'd be ur #1 ticket to being fired. FYL for having to not be able to chance it

#29 - On 07/18/2009 at 12:00pm by Swatme101

i love Jamba Juice....sucks that there aren't any near base

#30 - On 07/18/2009 at 12:11pm by MR_Anderson

You should've directed them to that magical place known as THE INTERNET.

#31 - On 07/18/2009 at 12:54pm by midwestjerk

how did you not recognize their voice?

#32 - On 07/18/2009 at 1:39pm by Paige_Nicole10

You should have said "No, I'm not doing that". It's not like the guy on the other line would know who you were if they were an actual customer.

#33 - On 07/18/2009 at 1:40pm by Travel

I would've asked why the person over the phone needed to know and I would te them to look online cause "I'm workinng". While apparently your coworker was not. Fail.

#34 - On 07/18/2009 at 1:43pm by Stevieebabyy

Hahahhahahahahah! High five to your friend. It wouldn't be a low-end job without pranks!

My friend and I loved pulling shit on each other and the rest of the staff, and prank calls were but one of those things.

#35 - On 07/18/2009 at 1:59pm by Nakedsquirrel

haha, thats awesome. sucks that you fell for it, but props to the friend for the joke. lol
I gotta remember that one for one of my co-workers.

#37 - On 07/18/2009 at 7:58pm by heyitsselena

No, fuck that, even if it was a legit customer I'd tell their lazy ass to come in.

#38 - On 07/18/2009 at 9:48pm by MrIrish20

Well, you can at least take comfort in the fact that you're a good employee. Most people would just tell the customer to go screw themselves.

#39 - On 07/19/2009 at 12:32am by Tsulu

That sucks, I work at a movie theater and every once in a while get calls from little old ladies who want to know synopses for every single movie we have playing. And obviously you can't hang up or say "it's available on the internet" because that would be rude and you'd get fired. So I totally know how annoying it is to have to do that. FYL.

#40 - On 07/19/2009 at 11:10am by fishness

haha okay so this was so good i had to sign in so i could comment it....fyl for one....but sadly i have done this to people...once i called the local dairy queen here when the guy answered i was like 'sir i'm alergic to milk...so do you have dair in your ice cream.' the sad thing is ....he had to ask the manager...if the place he worked at DAIRY queen had dairy in their products....yeah. thats the kind of people that work in my town.

#41 - On 07/19/2009 at 8:17pm by ditzykayla

OH MY GOD I LOVE JAMBA JUICE. IIIII LOOOOOOOOVE JAMBA JUICEEEEEE

#42 - On 07/19/2009 at 8:17pm by zalc323

How is this FML worthy?

#43 - On 07/20/2009 at 4:05am by mysterygirl710

Right, your coworker is the stupid one... but you read a menu for ten minutes.

#44 - On 07/20/2009 at 11:28am by Nemephosis

hahahahah your co-worker kicks ass!

#45 - On 07/20/2009 at 11:55pm by ConSeannery

should have recognized his voice, and even if it was different, not fml.
props to your co-worker lmao.
It's nothing to be so angsty about in my opinion. Not FML, not that you deserved it though

#46 - On 07/21/2009 at 5:39pm by PeteyRiverstool

That really sucks for you... it is somewhat funny though.

I love Jamba Juice, though. Only because the love of my life works there :D

#47 - On 07/25/2009 at 7:03am by Asabouros

Heh. I own and run my own business, so my first comment is: How unprofessional of your co-worker.

If he were my worker, he'd be in awful trouble. However, I do think that this is pretty dang funny. :p Just.. don't tell my workers that, haha. I don't think you "deserved it" as others state. I also give in to what customers want because really, you're there to make sure that they're pleased enough to return. That's your job. And I've gotten calls that I thought were prank calls from my best friend and my brother (both of whom have pranked me at work before) that turned out to be serious customers. So it's a good thing I didn't actually say something stupid to them. Heh.

#49 - On 08/15/2009 at 11:27pm by Adora

FAIL

#50 - On 08/23/2009 at 9:09pm by rakhil11

Sense of humor bypass? Get him back with something just as stupid....?

#51 - On 09/05/2009 at 8:31pm by oooooo

What, so your co-worker quickly asked "can you read out your whole menu" before you could recognise their voice then stayed silent for 10 mins, and you didn't pause at all or ask them why they wanted it?
Get to know your co-workers' voices better.
