Today, I had my first job as a wedding planner. I'd spent a year making sure everything was right. After the wedding my friend comforted me by saying, "You had to have known it wasn't going to be perfect." I knew that it wouldn't be perfect, but I had expected the groom to at least show up. FML

Surely that's not your fault. And if a groom leaves his bride at the altar in front of everyone, instead of honestly discussing things face to face - who would want to be married to a man like that anyway?

No matter the circumstances he should probably have talked it out with his ex (I presume he is now) BEFORE leaving her by the altar! Thats just cruel! OP, theres nothing a wedding planner can do about the bride and groom actually showing.. You did your part.

11 - The ONLY circumstance in which I can see this being understandable would be if the groom was killed (or injured to the point of unconsciousness) on the way to the wedding, leaving no one aware of what had happened to him. Beyond that, it was a ******-up move.

Don't be worried about this. Yes, it was not cool at all but it wasn't your fault. The groom acted like a jerk by not showing up to his own wedding. And I'm pretty sure that everything will go right in the next wedding that you'll plan. Good luck, OP :-)

All contracts say non refundable about deposits and payments. Make sure your contract also has liability section stating if something like this, or anything that is beyond your control is not your fault. In case they try to get their money back
