Today, my boss quit his job and stopped coming in without warning. Guess who just inherited his tasks and responsibilities without the training or pay associated with his manager role. I was hired last year as a junior system admin. FML

I doubt that, #1. It sounds like OP is merely the interim manager or whatever the title is. If he does well and they can't find someone else, he may get the job. If he does poorly, he'll probably get fired. Chances are they will hire someone else so all he has to do is get by. This is an opportunity, OP, but you complaining about it leads me to believe you're not up to the task. Good luck.

this is what my boss is like. he just goes home at 11am then expects me to do all his work unpaid. if I do it, I don't get any thanks or pay. jf I don't do it I get in trouble. nothing can be done to change it :-(

the point is he is complaining even tho he has a job when others have no pay at all. if he gets fired or laid off then that would be a FML. but I don't think it is necessary now. sorry but shut up..at least you have a job.

He didn't get the job. He merely is taking over his boss's responsibilities. The boss will probably be replaced very soon

No, don't just read. Think. If the manager left, then there's obviously room in the budget for OP to get a raise. If they prove that they're up to the task and deserve a raise, they'll probably get one. Might be harder work for a little while with no extra payoff, but that's what you gotta do if you wanna get ahead.

Put your foot down and tell them you cannot effectively do the job unless you get the training and then subsequent pay increase. Don't you get it? You have them by the balls here!!!!!
