well i for one can understand why a superhero deserves such higher pay, look at all the responsibility and constant danger involved in the role. not to mention social isolation and constant secrecy even among your friends, never being able to tell them who you really are. poor guy. and you all should be ashamed, id like to see you spend a day doing what he does. fucking assholes.

I agree that drawing comics doesn't mean he doesn't deserve a higher position/better salary, however, the boss doesn't always have a harder work ethic.
In this case, though, I'd say OP is a jerk. So your boss draws comics, so what? It sounds to me like a side hobby he's really passionate about. As long as he does his day job during the day, it doesn't matter if he indulges himself during his free time. All you can do about it is work a little harder and hope for a promotion.
Your boss actually sounds pretty rock. I suggest you construct an evil alter-ego and start slipping mad riddles into his personal belongings.

If he isn't sincerely delusional, he is just a creative guy. I know 40+ year old engineers who still play D&D, and they are all making $100k+ per year.
Some people have weird hobbies but, by the sound of things and the amount of money, he is probably a professional who does his job well and has a few quirks or eccentricities.
I think the close minded/weird one maybe the OP.
He should make more money, you obviously have no creativity and deserve what you get...
