Man or woman?

Today, I was going on a plane to Chicago. My passport picture is 6 years old, and back then I was a beautiful model. Now, I gave birth to a child and gained 50 lbs. When I showed my passport to the airport atendents, I got arrested for stealing someones passport. FML

Why didn't you get a new one when you changed so much? Don't be too hard on those guys, they're just doing their jobs.

They didn't see any sort of facial resemblance?

Aww...you may have to get that picture re-taken. I hope you were able to get that all sorted out without too much trouble :(

#5 - On 04/12/2009 at 12:34pm by PureGold

Well I think changing the passport could have been the least you could have done. The other is try work off the weight.

#6 - On 04/12/2009 at 12:36pm by spamster

If you had your driver's license with you with the same picture, that alone should've proved it...

#7 - On 04/12/2009 at 12:37pm by kristenlee

#3, over half of this site's traffic is from outside of the US. There was an FML from China the other day. Turns out, the US is not the center of the universe after all. ;)

#11 - On 04/12/2009 at 12:42pm by SpunkT

It's possible that that was her form of ID before going through security, or she was coming from another country. Still, terrible experience to go through.

#12 - On 04/12/2009 at 12:44pm by iSarah

#3, I'm surprised you even know the words "another country" put together like that.

OP: This is why we keep our passport pictures up to date.

#13 - On 04/12/2009 at 12:46pm by Nemephosis

lol that sucks

#14 - On 04/12/2009 at 12:51pm by jayfx

Yeah 6 years is a long time, but any other valid ID would probably work, although I dunno how airport security is there, though I imagine it would be pretty damn tight...

#15 - On 04/12/2009 at 12:56pm by TidusBlade

#4 no if you're over 18 it's every 10 years.
and man that sucks... but yea i would've gotten it renwed if i had changed that much..

#16 - On 04/12/2009 at 12:57pm by ilaughatfmls

I don't believe it.

#17 - On 04/12/2009 at 12:59pm by rachelroller

At least you're not Iranian. When I go to airports, I always seem to be 'randomly' searched. Multiple times. By the same people. Within five minutes of each other.

#18 - On 04/12/2009 at 1:02pm by TurtleGenius

hahahahahaha

#19 - On 04/12/2009 at 1:08pm by the0ther

I call shenanigans.
I got my passport picture taken six years ago, back then I was chronically overweight.
I've lost a lot since then, my facial structure has changed significantly, and my hair is completely different.
I flew across the country only two days ago, using that as my identification, and there were no problems whatsoever.

#20 - On 04/12/2009 at 1:09pm by hannah_b

Bogus!

#21 - On 04/12/2009 at 1:11pm by Jareth

Wow. You gained 50 pounds during the pregnancy or AFTER? Anyway, hope it all worked out. I'm a fatass too.

#22 - On 04/12/2009 at 1:12pm by xClarkGable

hahahah that sucks. the first time i read it i thought it said "i gave birth to a 50 pound baby"

#23 - On 04/12/2009 at 1:15pm by jp11692

I know how you feel, OP! I was very attractive a few years ago too, then I injured my back and cannot exercise, and now I gained 50 pounds. It sucks! People treat you differently.

#24 - On 04/12/2009 at 1:29pm by YerPal

Doubtful. There's a little more that comes along with being arrested than that. It would've easily been resolved after you were accused. Nice story, though.

#25 - On 04/12/2009 at 1:52pm by teadaze

#4 is right, if you're under 16 you have to gey your passport updated every 5 years, and every ten if you are over 16. Either way, there's no way they would let you through with a passport from age 6, if your are currently 30.
FAIL

#26 - On 04/12/2009 at 2:01pm by madhops0620

she said the passport was six years old not taken when she was 6

#139 - On 03/03/2010 at 4:04pm by coolster56

#18...so so true....it happens to you too??

#27 - On 04/12/2009 at 2:04pm by choppedNskrewed

I would believe this one. I was at the airport in Boston, and the picture on my ID is from when I was 16 and had really long hair and didn't have glasses. Now I'm 20 and have short hair and glasses, but nothing else has changed, and security still made me provide another form of picture ID to prove it was mine.

#33 - On 04/12/2009 at 2:15pm by louisianagrrrrl

Aw I'm sorry, but it's not like you can never get your figure back.

Question though, aren't passport pictures pictures of your face? They didn't see ANY resemblance?

#34 - On 04/12/2009 at 2:16pm by Le_Rire

hahahHhahahahahAHAHAHAH!
at least now you have this beautiful child! right?

#35 - On 04/12/2009 at 2:19pm by the_question_mar

#26, are you stupid? The picture is from 6 YEARS AGO not from when she was 6 YEARS OLD. Read it again.

wow thats pretty terrible...

Oh no... FYL indeed...

#38 - On 04/12/2009 at 2:30pm by Hazimius

i know 50 lbs sounds like alot, but maybe she was just a really skinny model and now she's an average sized woman. and i don't know what country you're from, OP, but in america the current average dress size is like, 14... bit of a shame, really. but the fact is the OP might not be totally obese or anything, like most of the comments are making her out to be.
anyway, sucky experience. but hey... it'll make a great party story one day.

#39 - On 04/12/2009 at 2:31pm by lalalala1234

I believe this one although i dont think the OP was actually "arressted" but detained instead.
Not to get overly racial or anything but to all the people that said "i think this is fake because i look different than my ID and i never get stopped" no offense but most, if not all, of you that say are white/caucasian. You just dont know what it is like to be a minority. Officials always "bend the rules" to invade your personal space. So airport security "aressting" you for not looking like your passport photo is entirely plausable to me.
On a seperate note the thing with passports is they arent really needed to LEAVE the USA, you can leave with little to no id. But the trouble is you really need it to ENTER the USA

Your US passport is valid for 10 years as an adult. It's very possible.

#52 - On 04/12/2009 at 3:45pm by route95

lmao. @26- the passport was six years old not from WHEN she was 6. :|
Also people saying to get your passport updated every 5 years: I'm not paying $80 every 5 years when a passport expires every 10.

#53 - On 04/12/2009 at 3:45pm by wotchersarah

This is bullshit, they would not have arrested you, and there are a bunch of ways you could have still proven it was you.

Oh! That really sucks... I would've gotten mine renewed a few months ago if I knew I was going to be traveling, though

They should have asked for a second form of ID. These things happen, and it's really the government's fault for making passports last 10 years before expiring.

#58 - On 04/12/2009 at 5:24pm by Sammara

As anyone who has a passport knows this is clearly fake - unless all 50 pounds she gained were around her mouth

#59 - On 04/12/2009 at 5:27pm by cartering

For the idiots who can't figure out why the OP needed a passport, think about this: this thing we're on called the internet doesn't just magically stop at the borders of the US. Hopefully this helps you understand this one.

#60 - On 04/12/2009 at 5:28pm by luxornv

#56 I've known plenty of women who managed to not get fat in the first place when they had kids. The secret? They didn't use it as an excuse to eat way too much and not move. Little extra gut, fat on the thighs, these are just some of the unavoidable pregnancy things that can be almost impossible to get rid of afterward. 50 lbs is a LOT of goddamn weight.

By the way, I'm not typing this all because I have any urge to say this to the OP, this is directed toward #56 alone. I simply hate when people use black boxes like childbirth and illness to tag other people as "insensitive" when referring to things that can be avoided. If you gain 50 lbs having a child, and then you run, you will lose a whole lot of that 50 lbs, or maybe all of it.

#61 - On 04/12/2009 at 5:40pm by Cormophyte

maybe she didnt mean arrested, but like, held by security until she could prove it was her. not arrested by the police as such.

#62 - On 04/12/2009 at 5:42pm by fueledbyamy

Yeah i just got my new passport. Im 16 now and its a 10 year passport. So hopefully i'll look the same.

Also i was on a cruise to Bermuda last summer, and i had used my Birth certificate as identification to get on the boat in the US. but they tried to stop me from getting back on and leaving Bermuda because i was supposed to have a picture ID over there. Not gonna blame you, but loose some weight goddamnit.

#63 - On 04/12/2009 at 6:00pm by mrdotkom

Didn't you have a driver's license or something to prove that's YOU! I call BS on the arrest!

#65 - On 04/12/2009 at 7:03pm by Floatout2sea

i call bluff.

#66 - On 04/12/2009 at 7:28pm by hahahalol

I call BS. This is just a little dig at mothers and/or those who this poster perceives as overweight. And you wouldn't get arrested for stealing a passport just because the picture is a little different, there is such a thing as ID other than passports.

#67 - On 04/12/2009 at 7:40pm by knowitall

How did everybody come to the conclusion that the OP is American? How did everybody figured what airport or where she's flying from? And where does it say anything about the OP's age? Ask yourself this question before you morons claim fake.

Whether you gained 50 lbs or a 100 lbs, I would not pay another $80+ for another passport when you know for a fact the current passport is valid. They'll let you pass eventually when they figure out your passport if legit.

#68 - On 04/12/2009 at 7:40pm by Wonka

#61- I never said she couldn't work it off. I hated how people phrased it. She doesn't deserve it for actually gaining the weight in the first place- a lot of women gain weight during pregnancy. Whether she decides to exercise after that is her choice, but she didn't have a choice on whether or not she would gain the weight during childbirth. It is actually healthy and beneficial to gain some weight during pregnancy. And each person is different- some gain even more during that time. Unless the women you know make up the entire female population, let's not assume things about people.

#69 - On 04/12/2009 at 7:40pm by chanceuse

SALAD

#70 - On 04/12/2009 at 7:43pm by permission2laugh

As I read more I am just annoyed with the kids on here. Yeah you can gain 50lbs from being pregnant, a healthy pregnancy requires you to gain 30-40lbs. And big shocker for you girls in your teens- even if you *don't* have a baby? You're likely to start gaining weight in your late 20s, early 30s anyway due to metabolism and maturity. You aren't even done growing/developing until your early 20s.

#71 - On 04/12/2009 at 7:46pm by knowitall

Impossible, you'd have to renew your passport every 5 years. I smell bullshit.

#72 - On 04/12/2009 at 7:47pm by z4opv14

this is obviously fake the could see the resemblance if it was only 50 pounds

#73 - On 04/12/2009 at 7:53pm by marcus1234

obviously fake. i've used a passport from over 7 years previous (which i got when i was 10) and i never had a problem. your facial features wouldn't have changed that much.

#74 - On 04/12/2009 at 7:55pm by xbentxlovex

If this is true, you deserve it. I'm not a woman and I've [obviously] never given birth, so I'm not going to pretend that it's something easy. However, being pregnant and bearing a child is really no excuse for gaining 50 pounds. Woman need to stop using that as an excuse to eat like cows.

My mom bore 4 children and still looks great. Take care of yourself.

#75 - On 04/12/2009 at 8:15pm by GubuntoidOSX

Well unless you gave birth through your nose, I don't see how the picture wouldn't look like you!

#76 - On 04/12/2009 at 8:44pm by Shihaby

This is why you update your photo?

#77 - On 04/12/2009 at 8:52pm by SarahxJane

It's amazing how it takes some women gaining upwards of 100 pounds to have a 6 pound baby.

#78 - On 04/12/2009 at 9:01pm by YtotallyDI

Passports are valid for 5 years since the date they were issued. This would mean that your passport was no longer valid regardless of how fat you got.

#85 - On 04/12/2009 at 11:03pm by kylepwn1

Passports for people over 18 are valid for 10 years in the U.S., should have shown them your drivers license/check book for backup proof. That is pretty screwed up though.

I think you should rephrase this one. Your child could really take this as an insult to him/herself. :x

FAKE ALERT

#91 - On 04/13/2009 at 12:32am by KillaDilla

Obesity is defined as 30 pounds overweight. Unless she was at least 20 pounds underweight as a model, she's ok now, but otherwise she is obese now.

As for weight gain during pregnancy, that was 6 years ago.

#92 - On 04/13/2009 at 12:40am by I_am_stupid_also

Wouldn't the name match the one on your driver's license?

#94 - On 04/13/2009 at 1:57am by jthm_guitarist

I like all the people calling fake because she showed her passport for domestic travel (that is assuming she was flying from within the US and not from another country). My wallet got stolen and while waiting for my license to be sent to me I had to fly from SF to San Diego and just for that I had to use my passport. So you might want to think before you sound like an ass (ahem #93).

And who cares about the weight gain, she might have just had the kid and not lost the weight yet. And every woman carries pregnancies differently, despite eating healthy and exercising some women can gain a significant amount of weight. Also if she was a model she was more than likely underweight so its no surprise her body would put on a lot more weight in order to have a healthy pregnancy. Its amazing how many people sound like righteous idiots in this thread, half of the responses sound like they are coming from 13 year old boys (which wouldnt surprise me).

#95 - On 04/13/2009 at 1:57am by SOMAgirl

#97 - On 04/13/2009 at 3:10am by FoundManyLemons

okay, i couldnt put to much info in my thread because the 300 word limit kept me from writing too much information.
As a mom, i can't really go around wearing all this fancy makeup or whatever, it would be unreasonable. Also, i cut my hair to about chin length, and dyed it brown (i used to be blonde) because since im a mom, i wanted to look the part.
when i was a model, I was 20-30 lbs underweight, so when I gained 50 lbs, it made a difference to my face.
Also, i was NOT travelling from somewhere in the US to Chicago, i was travelling from my vacation in Korea to Chicago. I have a Dutch passport, so its different there.
but anyways, im loosing weight and i acually got a new passport picture today so i wont be having this problem again

#98 - On 04/13/2009 at 3:34am by chococool223

I'd just like to say that the last time I got my passport the lady working at the post office was dumber then a bag of hammers. She acted like she was God's gift to the postal service. It honestly took an hour for her to take my photo. I'm totally waiting for mine to expire before it gets renewed

If it came down to getting detained by the semi-competent airport security people or dealing with the bat-shit crazy post office lady, I'm getting arrested.

#114 - On 04/14/2009 at 4:58am by crazy_legs_mcgee

# 56, I wish guys could experience the joys of giving birth, too, cause then women wouldn't have to do it.
OP, YDI for not updating your passport. FYL, though, for all these assholes leaving comments saying you were never a beautiful model. Earth to Assholes: with pregnancy comes weight gain, and also, maybe she WAS a model... you guys are just jealous bitches.
Also, I just read # 96 (aka, comment from the OP) and yes, I add to my YDI... you changed your hair color, you gained weight, and in the first picture you had makeup on?
This was stupid of you. The FML is believable, but you behaved stupidly.

Why do the majority of you ASSUME the person has a drivers liscence anyway? A drivers liscence isn't going to get you in and out of a country.

that's what you get for not looking good

#101 he might not mean dress sizes but "ranking" out of 10.

OP forget theese guys, everyone is bolder anonomously. Sucks you were inconvieninced so much, but at least you're not brown right now. It's not fun to FWB (Flying While Brown) its even worse than DWB (Driving While Black)

Hmmm, weird. They do check your fingerprints. Those guys even take a face pic of u at the moment, and the compare it to their database. They would ask u for more ID's n stuff like that; also, ask u questions to determine that. That's really weird. I'm 23, n my passport pic is from when I was 14 n about 120 pounds overweight. I travel, and never had a complaint or anything said about the pic n I don't look remotely close to how I look now.

I call fake because even if you had gained weight they would be able to tell it was you by looking at your face. And I highly doubt that you were a "beautiful model".

#129 - On 06/18/2009 at 10:57pm by swimmer07

maybe yur just saying that because yur ugly.
im pretty sure you dont like it when people call you ugly.
models are confident, because there models and represent stuff, so obviously they wouldnt be ugly.
so stfu.

OP, I just read your comment. who cares about "looking the part" as a mom, and who goes on vacation in Korea? NOBODY! and if u were a model wouldn't you have a good metabolism and be able to lose weight fast? fake.

#130 - On 06/18/2009 at 11:02pm by swimmer07

yur retarded. just because someone is a model doesnt mean they HAVE to have a high metabolism. maybe she just excercised a lot and didnt stuff her face like most people do. seriously. retard.

#132 - On 08/05/2009 at 1:53am by tangerine_12

Please guys... Some things on here are offensive.
And #129 and #130, I was a beautiful girl, and there is nothing wrong with thinking that. I vacation in Korea because Korea is a beautiful place with wonderful people. I don't have a very fast metabolism; I just ate little and exersized a lot, but gave up on my figure after giving birth and aging. You guys don't have to fret anymore because I got a new passport picture, and I am trying to watch what I eat. Why are you being so negative, swimmer07? Models are supposed to be confident, not low-self esteemed. Would you be all nice to someone if they were not confident, even if they were like the confident person? You need a different attitude towards things.
