Today, I was sitting in my chemistry class when a sick girl behind me asked "Can I go to the bathroom?". My teacher, being smart said, "Don't you mean MAY I use the bathroom?". Meanwhile, the girl behind me started throwing up all over her desk and me. FML

The teacher wasn't being a "Grammar Nazi." He is doing what he is supposed to do - TEACH.
Regardless, she should have left the room without asking. Forgiveness is much easier than permission in that situation.

And #23 - I understand what you mean, he was doing what he was supposed to do, but it says it was in chemistry class. The chemistry teacher's curriculum most-likely has no field about grammatical rules.
@23 When you see someone about to throw up, that isn't the time to correct their grammar. You just tell them to go.
The girl was being polite and asking to leave the room, but she really should have just left.
Bother of them were being pretty stupid in that situation, but it really sucks that she had to puke on you.

Personally, I would have picked up some of the vomit and done 1 of 2 things; Throw it at your teacher, or. and this would be my favorite one, put some of her vomit in your mouth and then just spit it at your teacher. So if this happens to anyone else, you can use this idea

i feel bad for the girl, i have an anxiety problem where if i'm not close to a door or an exit i start feeling really sick and usually have to leave wherever i am and i've always been nervous of that happening to me.
to everyone who's saying the girl should have just left the class, i understand why she didn't. i'm incredibly shy and would never dream of running out of a class even if it means i would have to puke on the guy in front of you (mind you i'd probably turn and puke in the aisle)

How is the teacher an asshole? "May I" is the correct way of saying it. Even if it was just a joke, how was the teacher supposed to know that the girl was about to be sick? Agree with 4, 10 and 33.
Although maybe the girl had to ask as part of the school rules.
Sometimes when someone in one of my classes is desperate for the toilet, the teacher won't let them go because "There's five minutes still to go until lunch and they can hold it in." even though these people look like they're on the verge of peeing (And embarrassing) themselves. Although when they feel sick, they can run out at any time.
I don't understand why the rule changes in regard to needing a pee. They still mess up the classroom. :S

When I was sick ... my teacher said I couldn't go to the bathroom because he wanted to finish his lesson first... I just ran to the bathroom ... he wasn't mad at all ...
If you're sick, just go to the damn bathroom and don't wait till the teacher says you can go ..

omg the same thing happened to me, only our teacher wasnt a douche he was just old. the kid behind me was sooooo sick and tried to ask to go to the nurse and our teacher couldnt hear him. it went on until me and the kid who sat next to me were like yelling that he needed to go to the nurse. before we could even finish the sentence he puked EVERY WHERE. the only thing that kept me from getting covered in it was his backpack lol
Very similar event happened to me in elementary school. I was in my gym class, I'm somewhere around 10 years old. I'm nauseous, so I ask "Can I go to the bathroom, coach?". He says "Please, Mr. Barrett, may I use the facilities?". As soon as he said that I puked all over Mikey Casey, most popular kid in the class. Everyone still swears, to this day, that me looking around to find a trash bin was me looking for Mikey to vomit on him.
