Sounds like an older-generation joke. As in, you crazy kids, with your Facebook and your messaging; all your friends are just little pixelated icons you chat with on computers, not real live people you have coffee with, ha ha ha. A terrible joke, true, but probably not a personal attack on you. Or maybe she thought you didn't hang out with your friends much while obsessing about your boyfriend; that's pretty common.
