Man or woman?

Today, my landlord came over while I wasn't home. My friend and her pets were thrown out by her husband. I'm the only person she knows in this state and she begged me to stay. I reluctantly told her fine; just don't answer the door. She did, with the animals, and told him she was living here. FML

I agree, your life sucks (17199) - you totally deserved it (3268)

OP, you're friend is an idiot. She's not wort it.

#68 - On 11/03/2009 at 11:50pm by Ohnothingreally

Now you have a roommate and some pets as you have to find a new place to live!

#3 - On 11/03/2009 at 2:19pm by Skull_300

Wow... That sucks! I'd kick her ass out and try and kiss your landlord's ass.

#4 - On 11/03/2009 at 2:21pm by perfectwinds

Hey just explain why to the landlord and kick her out for treating you that way.

#6 - On 11/03/2009 at 2:24pm by Jeef27

So....?

I have never heard of a lease that prohibits house-guests. Pets, yes, but not house guests or roommates.

#7 - On 11/03/2009 at 2:25pm by ozymandias

I've had leases that prohibited guests for longer than so many days. (A week, I think.)

#8 - On 11/03/2009 at 2:31pm by trogdor_ca

By telling him that she lived there, that implied the pets lived there too (and she wasn't just visiting with them).

#10 - On 11/03/2009 at 2:33pm by Postlude

now do you know why she got dumped?

She deserves it. Why is it FYL? She was stupid enough to open the damn door.

Now you know why she was stuck with youm becayse she's an idiot!

#12 - On 11/03/2009 at 2:35pm by whatxthexeff

It's not really FYL, unless your lease gets broken because of her stupidity...then yes, FYL indeed. Sorry you have dumbass friends who don't know how to listen.

#14 - On 11/03/2009 at 2:44pm by Luckster

This isn't an FML unless your landlord is Mr. Roper and he thinks you are lesbians.

#15 - On 11/03/2009 at 2:50pm by perdix

Now you know why she got chucked out by her husband, shes an idiot. Now i suggest you do the same.

#16 - On 11/03/2009 at 2:52pm by Stured

someone explain this to me

#17 - On 11/03/2009 at 2:53pm by kira1kira

Some landlords prohibit 'roommates' who are not paying their share of the rent. Some landlords also prohibit animals without a cover payment. I'm guessing this landlord prohibits both.
Yeah, FYL dude. Kick her ass.

#42 - On 11/03/2009 at 5:04pm by LeverPuller

Kick her out, and send her to a woman's shelter. That's what they're there for. Explain to your landlord what happened, and that she was only supposed to be there temporarily while she got back on her feet, but apparently your friend thought it was more permanent. Maybe he'll cut you some slack.

#18 - On 11/03/2009 at 2:59pm by birds

My landlord has a strict policy about pets. if they find out one is in your house, not only do you immediately have to pay the deposit, you have to pay extra as like...a fine. Plus, she said there's a good chance you'll lose a lot of your deposit when you move out! That's even if someone is just VISITING with a pet.

FYL! Kick her out!

#19 - On 11/03/2009 at 3:00pm by idkweird

This is a badly written FML.

#20 - On 11/03/2009 at 3:09pm by hornetchik

Yeah it's terrible..

#33 - On 11/03/2009 at 4:00pm by aero

As mean as it is, I think you have to kick her out. She did the /one/ thing you asked her not to do and therefore she does not deserve your friendship and help.

I think you mean YDI?

#52 - On 11/03/2009 at 6:41pm by potentpotable

I think your friend would benefit from a few semesters at Hard Knock University. Maybe it'll teach her some sense. Enrolling her is easy: just kick her out of your apartment. Hopefully you can explain things to your landlord and avoid getting evicted.

I second this notion.
If I were OP, her ass would be gone. I wouldn't give a shit if I was her only friend in the state. FUCK that shit.

#46 - On 11/03/2009 at 5:29pm by Boxingsweets

your friend is an idiot.

#34 - On 11/03/2009 at 4:07pm by worldjudge

what a fkn moron I'd kick her in the face

#35 - On 11/03/2009 at 4:18pm by kile88

YDI if your landlord says no animals then that means no animals if you get kicked out then oh well you broke the rules now pay the consequences.

#36 - On 11/03/2009 at 4:29pm by bullshitdetector

Your friend is a total fucking idiot. You should kick her the fuck out too!

#37 - On 11/03/2009 at 4:31pm by noshitsherlock

To the people saying it is poorly written, the fact that you cannot understand english isn't exactly the fault of the OP. I can understand it just fine. Then again, I'm not 12.

#38 - On 11/03/2009 at 4:51pm by netfreak

It isn't that it is hard to understand, it's that the wording is very poor. And if you can't see that, then you must have the writing skills of a 12 year old.

#40 - On 11/03/2009 at 5:00pm by GreenHacker

Go back to school. Idiot kids.

#54 - On 11/03/2009 at 6:45pm by netfreak

Are you calling yourself an idiot kid, or the OP?

#58 - On 11/03/2009 at 7:44pm by GreenHacker

This is poorly written, end of story. When you have to guess why it's an FML, it's poorly written. The fact that your damaged brain finds it logical doesn't change anything.

#72 - On 11/04/2009 at 7:32am by Jotne

Probably only kids who are still at home and have never had a rental agreement would have trouble figuring out why this is an FML. It's pretty straight forward...

#75 - On 11/04/2009 at 10:09am by Twinklestar

It's still poorly written. Your post is irrelevant.

#76 - On 11/04/2009 at 10:28am by Jotne

It's not irrelevant. You said it's poorly written because people have to guess why it's an FML. I pointed out only children who haven't lived on their own would not find this self-explanatory, and even then you'd have to be a bit slow. Clearly you have trouble seeing obvious links if you can't see the relevance of my post or the OPs problem. This isn't really anyone elses problem sorry. One day you're going to move out of home and be in for a shock when your realise you have to be responsible for your own short comings.

#77 - On 11/04/2009 at 11:11am by Twinklestar

First off, there's no debating the fact that it's badly worded. Second, she seems to have just written down whatever popped into her head without being overly concerned about conveying the information in a sensible way; we're left to guess at exactly what happened here. It was obviously bad that her retarded bitch of a friend told the landlord that she lived there with a shitload of cats, but why? No pets allowed? No bitches allowed? What? It's not all that hard to connect the dots, but it's still written by someone with a tenuous grasp of the English language (her mother tongue). Actually, it's not explicitly stated that she got in trouble with the landlord, there is a remote chance that it could be something else.

Crappy writing, end of story. Your posts were, and are, irrelevant. You'll also be happy to know that I moved out the Autumn after graduating from high school. No great shocks yet, at least not any that would be relevant here. Maybe because I have the brains not to do stupid shit like this? Of course, I've never been homeless after moving out of my parents' house; that would probably make life more shocking. Still, I yet again fail to see the relevance.

#79 - On 11/04/2009 at 6:45pm by Jotne

You can't just say "there's no debating the fact" and make that true. It's worded fine which is the reason it got through the moderators and that the majority of the people in this thread get exactly what happened. A tenuous grasp on the English language? Ignoring the fact you're just assuming it's her first language, would you care to point out exactly what part of her FML is grammatically incorrect or awkward? FMLs have a word limit and are quite often left with ambiguous endings. Although this is hardly that ambiguous anyway; her friend announced to the landlords face that she was breaking her tenancy agreement after being told not to even answer the door. A tenancy agreement states how many people can live in the house and generally whether or not pets are allowed. Honestly, this isn't a very difficult concept and hardly a matter of connecting the dots. Stop embarrassing yourself by repeating that you didn't get it straight away like everyone else so it must be "badly worded".

#80 - On 11/05/2009 at 2:36am by Twinklestar

If you have taken any higher level English course at any university, you would know that the wording of this FML is very poor. It doesn't have to be hard to understand to be poorly worded. It isn't a grammar issue. The wording is just awkward.

#81 - On 11/05/2009 at 2:09pm by GreenHacker

Thank you GreenHacker, my point exactly.

Twinkle my dear, where do I "keep repeating" I didn't understand it? Her friend told her landlord she lived there. This was apparently bad. We get it, ok? My point is that not only is the story unclear as to exactly why this was bad, it's jumbled and awkward. By the way, my tenancy contract does not state the exact number of people who can live here, nor does it forbid house guests. It does say that I can't keep pets unless I clear it with the landlord, but it wouldn't exactly be a major crisis if something like this happened. There's no universal standard for these contracts, you know...

Oh, and I'm assuming her first language is English because she's from Wisconsin. Weird, right? There are numerous grammatical errors in the text as well, but I don't really care; this is the internet, I've come to expect it. Just for fun, I'll let you try to find them yourself, should keep you occupied for a while.

but it is badly written

#43 - On 11/03/2009 at 5:04pm by KiddNYC10

That really sucks. I definitely would've kicked her out after that. Such a dumbass.

#45 - On 11/03/2009 at 5:12pm by PhillyFox

I must be stupid cause I read it perfectly the first time. then the second I read it I did not get one bit of it lol

#47 - On 11/03/2009 at 5:49pm by bballer32

ok honestly, I have no idea what she is talking about and maybe I'm just tired... but can someone please just rewrite it in understandable english??

#49 - On 11/03/2009 at 6:16pm by tornado4327

I FIGURED IT OUT!!! It took me several minutes, but I think I figured out what the OP is trying to say!

1. Her friend was kicked out by her husband.

2. Friend, with animals, needed a place to stay; OP agreed to let friend stay with her.

3. OP probably has a rental agreement which states that only OP is allowed to live at the home, with no pets (I'm guessing).

4. OP was not home today, when the landlord came to visit.

5. Friend answered the door and told the landlord that she lived there.

6. Landlord is now possibly upset because of a violation of OP's rental agreement.

Unfortunately the OP started the story at the end (landlord came to visit) and then jumped back to the beginning and finished it in the middle.

#50 - On 11/03/2009 at 6:24pm by FerrariCake

thank you ferraricake, i was confused too

#53 - On 11/03/2009 at 6:42pm by danielleFML

Thanks for the fuckwit-to-English translation there Ferraricake. I read it as follows:

The OP's friend was thrown out by the landlord's husband. The landlord didn't know anyone else who was in such a state, and begged the OP to stay. The OP told the landlord that the OP would stay, but the landlord should not answer the door. The landlord answered the door with animals, and told the door she was living with the OP.

FML indeed.

#57 - On 11/03/2009 at 7:37pm by buzzy

LMFAO... yours is the literal translation of the original post, but as you pointed out, it was written in Fuckwit. I've found that if you read enough FML's day after day, you get pretty fluent in Fuckwit and it's not too difficult to interpret.

#62 - On 11/03/2009 at 9:19pm by FerrariCake

Thanks for the translation, Babel Fish doesn't seem to do Fuckwit-to-English.

#73 - On 11/04/2009 at 7:35am by Jotne

So what you're telling me is that she Tarantino'd the story.

#78 - On 11/04/2009 at 2:20pm by crews200

Thankyou FerrariCake, I honestly had no idea what OP was talking about...

#51 - On 11/03/2009 at 6:40pm by iFruit

Revised FML:

Today, my friend was kicked out by her husband and she was forced to take her animals with her. I am the only person she knows in the state, so she begged to stay with me. I let her stay, as long as she
promised not to answer the door because my landlord has a rule forbidding pets. While I was out, the doorbell rang. It was the landlord, and my friend let him in. FML

#55 - On 11/03/2009 at 6:48pm by iFruit

Wife thrown out by her husband? I can't think of many reasons I guy would get so pissed at his wife that he kick her out of the house.

Suggest your friend live with the guy she cheated on her husband with. She obviously knows more than one person in the area. (Yeah, I know, being a presumptuous douche.)

#56 - On 11/03/2009 at 6:51pm by Nakedsquirrel

No wonder you're her only friend in this state. FHL for being such a dunce.

#59 - On 11/03/2009 at 8:31pm by CyclonePsycho

Wait, what? This was so convoluted and confusing I don't even know what you're trying to say. Can someone clarify exactly what happened?

EDIT: Okay, I think I understand now, after about 6 re-readings.

#61 - On 11/03/2009 at 9:11pm by wrenched

Landlords suck...mine caught me and my boyfriend screwing. He entered my apt without notice. A$$hole!

#63 - On 11/03/2009 at 9:29pm by Erindub

Say What???

#65 - On 11/03/2009 at 9:37pm by sababa1

I clicked on YDI because you had to learn the hard way. It's ok, I did, too, as do most people. You should never have pets in your place. It's always a horror show. You could have invited your friend in, but told her to put the pets in a kennel or at somebody else's house or whatever, but forgetting the landlord, just for your own benefit - don't bring pets in, it always ends up in a horror show. I understand that some pet-owners have no-problem pets, but trust me, they're only no-problem pets for the pet-owner. not for anyone else. The only exception I would make is if the friend had a working dog because she was sight impaired. Then I would do it, but with the knowledge that it would probably be a horror show, but I would do it anyway.

#66 - On 11/03/2009 at 10:29pm by ChuckIII

YDI for having a friend who is criminally stupid.

This level of imbecillity is darwin-award-esque.

#67 - On 11/03/2009 at 11:11pm by Moemoemoe

damn even after you told her not to answer the door she did AND with the pets! what an ass FHL

#69 - On 11/04/2009 at 12:46am by iplayrugby18

no wonder her husband kicked her out, she's stupid as fuck. Every once in a while, a woman really deserves to be punched or beaten, I picture this as one of those times.

#70 - On 11/04/2009 at 2:38am by FlaminYawn

YDI, that's what you get for having retarded friends. Now please, redeem your own stupidity by punching her in the ovaries like she deserves.

#71 - On 11/04/2009 at 7:26am by Jotne

Also, now you know both why her husband kicked her out and why you're her only friend.

#74 - On 11/04/2009 at 7:38am by Jotne
