Could have been a stranger who had picked up the phone, not knowing what to say to a random stranger and thinking a vaguely witty 'Nope!' would be the best way to solve the situation and to, sort of, be helpful?

Is it entirely impossible that she was being sarcastic? Like maybe, she meant "well I must have, otherwise why would you text me and how would I text back?" It's what I would do. Plus, she said "Nope," not "No, I'm still looking for it. If you see it, let me know! :(" So, it sounds like sarcasm.

Didn't you kinda get the hint when she told you not to call her or text her because she lost the phone. I mean really who says "hey I lost my phone don't call me!!" Usually you just say Hey i lost my phone. CAUSE YOUR GONNA KNOW SHE CAN'T TEXT OR CALL YOU IF HER PHONE IS LOST.

I would have been slightly suspicious when she told you not to call or text since she lost her phone. If anything, she might hear the beep of the phone of someone texts and find her phone.

If she had really lost her phone, she might've said something like "If don't answer, it's cuz I can't find my phone". That would be the logical thing to say...
