Today, whilst I was in a corner deli getting snacks, my girlfriend thought it would be funny to drive the car 50m down the street so that I would be confused when I come out... She was picked up by a cop driving without her license and now my car is impounded for 28 days. FML

YDI for having an immature girlfriend. Tell the cops she stole it, get your car back, and dump her.

This sounds like a fake. If a cop pulls you over in Australia and you don't have your license, they check your name and unless your license has been suspended or is a learner permit, all they do is give you a warning and you have 30 days to show up at a cop shop with your license to prove you have one and nothing further becomes of it (had this happen once when I left my wallet at work) . At no time will the cops impound your car for something as trivial as this, unless the car was severely unroadworthy (In which you're an idiot for driving an unsafe car).
