Today, I removed the safety padding from around the trampoline because it seemed useless. This afternoon, I did a backflip, got my hair stuck in the springs, ripped out a chunk of my hair, and face planted it into the brick pavers. FML

Sure they didn't have padding in the old days but injuries were much higher from trampolines in the old days!
Once (pre padding, in the early 90s) I was on a friend's trampoline. His mother was watching me from the window. I jumped, slipped, landed on the springs and ended up hanging by a sock in a handstand over the edge of the trampoline. If it wasn't for my sock I'd have been quite seriously injured. If there'd been safety padding I'd have just fell on that.

I had a friend that had a trampoline with no padding. While we were on it he pushed me off, but instead of falling on the ground, my right leg fell into a hole between the springs and caught me. The only problem was that I was hanging upside down by one leg while my so called friends laughed hysterically.
