Today, while going up a ski-lift I accidently dropped my ticket. The ticket I needed at the top to come back down. I had to hike down the mountain in flip-flops. FML

I like how you replied to number one to be at the top. :P
Whateveeeeeeeeeer.
Yeah why are you wearing flipflops!?
I think this is a fake one.
If your on a ski lift you have skis on your feet & you dont need the ticket to go down!
This is fake guys!

#122 - On 07/06/2009 at 11:39am by lexilovesyou

Why are you in flip-flops on a ski lift in the first place?

#2 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:04pm by selenes

ik

#24 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:31pm by BBGood

GUYS!! There are places that use ski lifts that you dont acually ski at! Take Stone Mountain Park in Georgia- They use a ski lift sort of thing to get you to the top and bottom of the mountain. You dont ski. Its rocky, and you either climb or take the ski lift.

#29 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:47pm by caroline9994

Was this at Whistler?
Hahaha, that sucks! I went in the summer once and theres barely any snow. im suprised they didnt let you down!

#43 - On 07/03/2009 at 6:32pm by kewlcat

Ski resorts are open for skiing in the winter, then re-open for mountain biking and hiking in the summer when the snow melts.

#45 - On 07/03/2009 at 6:35pm by Samazoid

Yeah but still, why would anyone wear flip flops going hiking?

#49 - On 07/03/2009 at 6:42pm by shameinyou

he wasnt planning on hiking, retard.

#70 - On 07/03/2009 at 10:37pm by badaboom

If you're going to be on a mountain, you shouldn't be wearing flip-flops. End of discussion.

#108 - On 07/04/2009 at 1:56pm by blehargh

Shoulda kept it in our pocket... I'm going to take it you rode the ski lift during the summer to walk around at the top... not that you wearing flip flops in the snow.

#3 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:08pm by losergirl

where do you live that there is skiing in the middle of summer?

#4 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:10pm by sammbam

B.C.

but i still don't get this fml

#28 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:47pm by amy_shmamy

... BC, yes. But skiing no. Obviously they went up the ski lift to see the view from the top of the mountain in SUMMER (that's right people, Canada has actual summer weather, we're not always under ten feet of snow, metling ice to drink water in our igloos, that's really only two moths of the year ;-]).

#76 - On 07/03/2009 at 11:50pm by stopabreviating

THANK YOU! i dont understand why its so hard for people to understand we dont live in igloos i get that all the time. People are really stuipd FML for having to live on a planet with idiots

#118 - On 07/05/2009 at 11:47am by heavenandhell

omigod yes
i live in the us, but i go to canada every summer. i'm leaving tomorrow. i love it there. so beautiful! warm, but not too hot!

and duh she wasnt skiing. look at the date retards!

BC?

#123 - On 07/16/2009 at 5:51pm by wArPeD

I don't know which part of Canada you are going to but the weather sucks so far where I am. thank god I am leaving in like 10 days to real WARMTH!! :D

#125 - On 07/17/2009 at 2:46pm by mymilkshake

put important things like that somewhere you cant drop them

#5 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:10pm by dancin303

This is very confusing... Either you need a little skiing education, or you're too lazy to climb a mountain, which kind of defeats the point of going up there if you're not skiing

#6 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:10pm by Charlesdenfreude

you're dumb
YDI

#7 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:12pm by eoismynameo

That has happened to me so many times, it sucks that you were wearing flip-flops though.. SO HARD!! And to #4, if you live in British Columbia, Canada, ski resorts are open year round - for mountain biking, horse back riding, etc.

#8 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:15pm by xoxChels_

so its a crap one tbh, he/she just walked down a non snowy mountain in the summer in flip flops :O OMG THE HORROR!

#21 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:31pm by Hammy14

lol, we're weird in bc. some people (mainly tourists) will go up the ski lifts in the summer just to see the view. it's very common for people to go up the lifts in their summer clothes, such as flip flops..

#30 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:48pm by crackberrie

ok,but instead of taking the gondola down they had to walk all the way.mountains can be pretty tall.

#93 - On 07/04/2009 at 3:45am by smith_c

Flip Flops?

#9 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:17pm by Doopliss

how fun!

#10 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:18pm by lakeylove

WTF?? A) its July 3rd, the only mountains that have snow are really really high so i doubt that you where there. B) If u know ANYTHING about skiing its that u need the ticket to get to the top dumbass, not to get down. C) y the hell were u wearing flip-flops during this????? If there was snow u wouldn't even wear them to begin with. D) when they give u a ticket you put it on something like a jacket or your pants, u don't just drop it. and last of all E) They would probably make a exception if all of these happens by a miracle to be true that you could come down. So please next time come up with a better fml.

#11 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:18pm by redheadfreak929

Or, the OP is south of the equator. It's the middle of the winter down south. If you knew ANYTHING about ANYTHING, then you would know that not every ski place is the same. Maybe the OP was at one that required a down ticket. As for flip flops, the OP could have been renting boots, and maybe the shop was at the top of the mountain, and the OP wanted to cool off his/her feet off before putting them on (or after taking them off). Maybe the OP was taking the ticket out of his / her pocket t=in order to hand it to someone, or check information. Theres lots of reasons to have it not in your pocket. So please, next time before you call BS on an FML, consider how little you know about the situation, and give the OP the benefit of the doubt.

#16 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:26pm by Urisma

Or, you could read that they're in Canada. As someone else has said, a lot of the ski places are open year round...they're not ONLY for skiing. I've been to Whistler in BC and people use the ski lifts for mountain biking, or to just walk around at the top of the mountain.

#25 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:35pm by emzmcgee

I've skied all my life, i've been to Canada, and all over the USA to ski, NO one ever wears flip flops to a ski mountain, and if the person did they r dumb as hell, if they were in a ski lift, which meant they were up high, it would be cold right? if you wear flip flops then you might have socks on but you would still get frostbite just going up unless there is no snow = no need for ticket. Also i've never been to a place that you need a ticket to go down. There r some mountains where you drive to the top and ski down and then take the lift up, but you always need a ticket to get back up. When you go to a ski mountain you really just pay to use the lift nothing else, some people hike all the way. Please if you've never skied STFU, if you have you know what i'm talking about and if you've skied a lot you keep your ski ticket attached to you, because you know how much they cost.

#44 - On 07/03/2009 at 6:33pm by redheadfreak929

#44 Why someone would wear flip flops for a day in the wilderness, I have no idea, but for you to be so presumptuous about a place you've obviously never been to is ridiculous. The ski lifts in BC are open year round, even though they're "up high" it's not cold in summer. And there are certain lifts that require that you show your ticket on the way down. It prevents people from hiking up and then getting a free ride down. So stop assuming that because you've been to BC you've experienced ALL ski lifts.

#61 - On 07/03/2009 at 8:51pm by derriduh

keep in mind that they were going up the mountain, what is hell is the point of going up if your going down?? eh?

#67 - On 07/03/2009 at 9:52pm by redheadfreak929

as many ppl have said before....to see the view at the top of the mountain...you really don't know EVERYTHING there is to know about EVERY ski resort/ski lift even if you do ski alot and blah blah blah

#77 - On 07/03/2009 at 11:59pm by ziggy123

ouch

#12 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:20pm by randomxtremely

I know I am going to sound like an idiot here. I just got this app and I don't know what OP and XD mean. can someone help me out. thx.

#13 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:23pm by nattylight

OP means original poster.
XD is like a smiley face...the D is the laughing mouth, and the X and the eyes squinted shut.

#18 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:27pm by CoCoBun87

OP=original poster
XD is a smiley face that means hysterical laughter

#19 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:28pm by XxBriaxBrutalxX

Hysterical laughter? No it doesn't?

#41 - On 07/03/2009 at 6:28pm by arienh4

Yes it does. I take it you've never seen South Park? That's what the smiley face is based off of. When characters laugh really hard, their eyes turn into "X"s, and the "D" of course, is the mouth.

#82 - On 07/04/2009 at 1:21am by xxXChiiXxx

this makes NO sense and sounds totally fake.

#14 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:24pm by AshleyRose784

that's what happens when your a weirdo and wear flip-flops

#15 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:25pm by buddybash

1) Flip flops in the snow?
2) Why not SKI down the slope?

#17 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:26pm by skor

Because it is summertime, moron. The lifts here in BC are open in the summer time for people who don't want to climb up/down the mountain, but still want to do some hiking at the top or a picnic or take photos of the view or bike down it, etc.

#62 - On 07/03/2009 at 9:05pm by wolfy

I'm going to assume that this is possibly whistler? Anyways, that really sucks. At least it was downhill...
And to everyone saying that this is made up, I highly doubt it as there are places in BC that do have mountains open during the summer for hiking and biking and such.

#20 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:29pm by wallspoon

even if he/she was hiking or horseback riding, no one does those things in flip flops...

#22 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:31pm by AshleyRose784

Who goes skiing in their flip flops?

#23 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:31pm by Stephai

If you were going up the mountain what were you planning on doing when you got to the top in flip flops? Just go up the ski lift and down again for no reason?

#26 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:39pm by emer_helena

At least they didn't make you ski up the hill as punishment.

#27 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:41pm by 24788

Why did you wear flip flops to go skiing?

#31 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:50pm by madasahatter

Who the fuck said she was fucking skiing? You dumb shit. Ski-lift does not automatically ski trip make.
But to the OP.. who cares? So you walked down hill, whoppie. This is only an FML if you say .."and it really sucked because I am a fat lazy ass-hole who hates physical movement besides moving food to my mouth."

#84 - On 07/04/2009 at 1:45am by killabee

wait, WHAT? am i missing something here? i thought you needed the ticket to actually RIDE the ski lift. why would they bother checking it at the top of the mountain when you obviously just got off the lift? wtf?

#32 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:50pm by shybullet

90% of the people that replied to this FML are total dumbasses.

#33 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:55pm by dearnewoikkin

I'd up it to 95%

#50 - On 07/03/2009 at 6:50pm by thatcatholicgirl

Oh good grief people. As some have mentioned before, most mountains keep their lifts open in the summer to allow hiking, biking, etc. Many of them have a restaurant, short walking tour, info booth or something of the sort at the top that are open during the summers. Point is, there are usually activities at the top that don't require hiking boots. Some resorts require a ticket to get both up and down the mountain because 1.) it takes money to run the lifts in the summer when there is a much lower rate of tourism, and 2.) because they do want to make money off of you and allowing access up and down the mountain without paying would decrease that.

Sorry, OP. Hiking down the hill takes a lot longer than skiing it. I did that one time when I dropped a nice pair of sunglasses off the chair. :-(

#34 - On 07/03/2009 at 5:56pm by buckskinpony

It's fucking summer where the fuck do u live???!

#35 - On 07/03/2009 at 6:01pm by LukeDog

whether or not you were skiing, why were you wearing flip flops on a mountain

#36 - On 07/03/2009 at 6:05pm by tripleplay181

Exactly, obviously they were going up a mountain to hike around or whatever since its Summer (even in Canada) and many resorts stay open for hiking and mountain biking. Regardless of how warm it was, wearing flip flops on a mountain is one of the stupidest things a person could do.

OP next time clip your lift ticket on you or put it in a secure pocket...oh and dont wear flip flops on a mountain.

#37 - On 07/03/2009 at 6:11pm by SOMAgirl

Obviously they were NOT "going up the mountain to hike or whatever" or else they wouldn't have bitched about having to walk (aka HIKE) down the mountain. Maybe OP just wanted to see the view, --viewing, perfectly compatible with flip-flops. I don't know what they were doing, but it was NOT hiking. So chill. Why people keep saying "she must've been planning a hike!" idk, frickin idiots.

#86 - On 07/04/2009 at 1:55am by killabee

fake fake fake.
1. i have never been to a ski lift where they scan tickets getting off the lift.
2. if you were skiing you had rental gear or personal gear and the ski lift people cannot take it from you
3. you don't wear flip flops skiing you wear boots
4. if you were doing some "summer hiking" then ydi for wearing flip flops. they are not designed for any long distance walking at all.
5. who even takes flip flops to a mountain hiking or not.

this should have never made it past mods

#38 - On 07/03/2009 at 6:13pm by Nightfallz

You need the pass to GET BACK ON THE LIFT TO RIDE DOWN THE MOUNTAIN AS IT IS SUMMER (AKA THE SEASON WITH NO SNOW).

#46 - On 07/03/2009 at 6:39pm by netfreak

Yeah I don't get this at all. Why would you still need your ticket to go back DOWN the mountain? Obviously, if you are at the top of the mountain, they know you had to have gotten up there on the ski lift. Which means that you had to have had a ticket. There's no way you could be trying to trick them. So why would they give you shit about it? No place would make you hike back down the mountain yourself. Imagine the possible lawsuits! I'm sure you're not the first person who dropped your ticket, and if you had explained that to them and said you would pay them or something once you got back down, I'm sure they would have let you back on the ski lift.

#39 - On 07/03/2009 at 6:15pm by ladidadi

was this grouse

#40 - On 07/03/2009 at 6:26pm by letmethinknow

THEY WERENT GOING SKIING. JUST BECAUSE IT IS CANADA DOESNT MEAN IT SNOWS IN JULY.
you take the lift to the top and get off. you enjoy the view, maybe theres a restaurant or something. then you have to go back down using the lift, which means you need a ticket. just because they were on a mountain doesnt mean they were hiking/skiiing. flip flops are perfectly appropriate for just looking at the view.

#42 - On 07/03/2009 at 6:30pm by tappywappy

why would you wear flip flops when going hiking?

#47 - On 07/03/2009 at 6:40pm by colourmealy

Mother nature doesn't close in the summer...

#48 - On 07/03/2009 at 6:41pm by netfreak

Ok... First of all there are mountain's in B.C. (like Grouse) that have something called the Grouse Grind. Pretty Much you hike up the mountain and then can choose to hike back down or take the lift. With that being said, if you were to hike up the mountain and then take the lift down you would need to pay for the lift at the top when you are about to go down. It sounds like the OP bought a round ticket but she lost her ticket, the lift operator could have thought she hiked up and hadn't paid for the way down, meaning she would have to pay again. The OP may not have had enough money to pay for the way down so she had to hike down. Second of all, If it were snowng here in BC (which it isn't!!) she wouldn't be wearing Flip flops! do you think she's stupid? Lastly, there is plenty of stuff to do in the summer on BC mountain's. Some you even need to take the lift to get to the city. I hope this helps everyone understand :)

#52 - On 07/03/2009 at 6:54pm by KerrBear1990

YDI for wearing flip flops

#53 - On 07/03/2009 at 7:13pm by awalkb

omg.... i actually feel really bad for you

#55 - On 07/03/2009 at 7:24pm by rachelsantixo

OK... so i'm assuming the only reason you would use a ski lift in SUMMER is to give you and your mountain bike a ride up. Even so, why the fuck are you wearing flip flops mountain biking?

#56 - On 07/03/2009 at 7:30pm by Leoplum

Why... why oh why get a ski lift up a mountian if you're not skiing? Just the whole joy of standing atop a mountain is a sense of accomplishment that nothing but your own two feet got you up there. Epic fail.

#57 - On 07/03/2009 at 8:02pm by Tri

Why were you wearing flip-flops?!

#58 - On 07/03/2009 at 8:13pm by iluvscc37

Damn, I agree with all the flip-flop comments. Why would you wear flip-flops when you're skiing? YDI!

#59 - On 07/03/2009 at 8:25pm by YDIForSure

I'm assuming you mean a cable car? Cos you wouldn't need a ski lift to go down if you're skiing :P Also that would make the whole "flip flops" thing make a whole lot more sense.

#60 - On 07/03/2009 at 8:28pm by Wroyth

you know an easier way to get to the bottom, would have been SKIing, but riding a ski lift to the top of a mountain and skiing down IS pretty ridiculous i guess, huh?

#63 - On 07/03/2009 at 9:11pm by CaptainPat

this is more of an FML to all the dumbasses who can't comprehend what happened to the OP.

#64 - On 07/03/2009 at 9:24pm by dan0

you're wearing flipflops,
to go skiing / snowboarding.
in bc.
ookaythenn.

#65 - On 07/03/2009 at 9:29pm by OMIGODNOWAI

No1 in their rite mind wears flip flops 2 go skiing or anything involving mountains. YDI!!

#66 - On 07/03/2009 at 9:50pm by laffalot53

woudnt the flip flops fall of your feet in the air?

#68 - On 07/03/2009 at 10:28pm by lakeylove

people people, they have ski jumps that are opened all year and they are in british colombia so their are mountains, so clearly the person was planning on changing out of their flip flops and into skis. or they just wanted to go to the top, look around a bit and then go back down nice and easy you know. or even they might not even had planned on going there but then they saw it and was like hey that seems fun. all you people saying "why would you where flip flops to a mountain" are idiots and clearly have not gone outside in a long time.

#69 - On 07/03/2009 at 10:37pm by samantha246

Ummm i dont care if he/she wasnt gonna ski.... Who wears flip flops to a skiing place? Its retarded!

#71 - On 07/03/2009 at 10:59pm by Mikaylatte

I live in BC Canada. They were probably doing the Grouse Grind or in Whistler and no snow here right now its 72 F!!!! We actually get really warm in the summer were on the coast!!!

#72 - On 07/03/2009 at 11:16pm by canadianblondie

This comment page is full of people who shoot first and read never. :(

#73 - On 07/03/2009 at 11:21pm by CosmicPossum

Actually, I did the same thing 2 days ago. Not skiing, of course, but at Stone Mountain, which I think is the type of thing the OP meant. And I wanted to walk down. But, still, that sucks :/ FYL

#74 - On 07/03/2009 at 11:32pm by aqualad51

what moron wears jandles to a mountain?? YDI

#75 - On 07/03/2009 at 11:45pm by myrddraal

I just made an account to specifically comment here.
FYL, I feel really bad for you. Also, i'm sorry for the stupid people commenting, who don't bother to read the other comments. Many mountains, not just in BC, but also here in New England, stay open all year. In the summer, it is common for mountains to be open to the public for mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, and enjoying the view and the day at the top. Your post makes total sense, and i'm sorry!
The other thing that I think is actually pretty funny is that many of these people actually thought you were skiing... it's JULY, summertime here in North America.

#78 - On 07/04/2009 at 12:15am by 022793

Wouldn't you have needed the ticket to get on in the first place? So couldn't you have just explained to the attendant as soon as you got to the top so he would know you weren't lying? Also you should always dress for the occasion, Teva or similar sandals would be appropriate but flip-flops are what a dumb ass would wear to day on a mountain. YDI.

#79 - On 07/04/2009 at 12:16am by weirdgirl_sf

in a way you kinda deserved it for wearing flip flops :\

#80 - On 07/04/2009 at 12:28am by spamtastic404

Aww. So sorry.

#81 - On 07/04/2009 at 1:06am by ILoveJace01

ATTENTION PEOPLE:
British Columbian mountains are open for mountain bikers, tourists, and hikers.
Clearly, the OP went to the top in flip flops because they thought they'd just hang around the top, maybe take some pictures. There are mountains with restaurants right at the top, ice skating rinks, museums, etc. Before you make a retarded comment, please take the time to realize that not every mountain is the same.

#83 - On 07/04/2009 at 1:29am by Mish_Mish

You deserved that crap, next time dont wear godamn flip flops to the freakin ski resort

#85 - On 07/04/2009 at 1:49am by Nickistheman15

I'm assuming this is at Grouse Mountain, where there is no skiing right now (hence the flipflops)... and this could very easily happen. To get off the mountain you need to take a gondola, and If you do not have your pass they will not let you down. You then have to take the grouse grind down, which an extremely steep hill that takes probably over an hour to get down, THIS WOULD NOT BE FUN.

#87 - On 07/04/2009 at 2:16am by sideways13

That seems mildly retarded that they wouldn't let you back down, especially if you needed a ticket or the gondola to get up there in the first place. Unless theres a road to get there. Then I can understand the confusion. But you simply explain the issue/predicament, excuse yourself for being stupid, and hell they might have let you down the mountain, flip flops or no.

Sorry OP, but YDI

#90 - On 07/04/2009 at 3:01am by BSPiotr

#90- you really need to read the rest of the comments before you post! There are about 5 of us who have written perfectly good explanations but NO ONE is reading them!
For the final time.... It is SUMMER in BC! No Snow! There are other activities you can do.

#92 - On 07/04/2009 at 3:45am by KerrBear1990

Most likely, the OP was talking about Grouse Mountain, which has something called the Grouse Grind which is a hiking trail up the mountain. Some people hike up the mountain but are too lazy to walk back down, so they take the gondola, hence the need to check for tickets twice. Stop assuming that OP is retarded just because you don't understand.

#95 - On 07/04/2009 at 3:49am by Mish_Mish

Pot calling the Kettle Black? I didn't mention anything about snow - I realize the OP may have gone there for the summer. Hell, I just posted this under a question that spoke about that!

Besides, you do nothing to answer my quandary of wondering why they would need a return ticket if getting to the top was so hard.

Same with Mish_MIsh. Completely misreading my post. I mentioned the establishment would be retarded if they didn't let him down. He came on *flip-flops*. I would immediately assume that he did not make that grueling hike up, if its as bad as the others have said.

Welcome to reading comprehension kids. Next time don't drop out of school. Hell, if I ever own a gondola-riding establishment, I'll make sure to never let people like you down.

#106 - On 07/04/2009 at 12:11pm by BSPiotr

that sucks. i dropped my phone off a ski lift once, but the guys at customer service were nice enough to get it for me.

#88 - On 07/04/2009 at 2:45am by dreamscreams

k im pretty sure liek everyone else sid this, but basically this is BS. YFI for either making this up, or somehow even being stupid enough to WEAR FLIP FLOPS SKIING! it's really hard tp believe someone would do that. you shouldn't even be bring flip flops to the snow. and is there even snow this time of year?

Whoa, here's a thought buddy, read through the comments before you open your mouth and regurgitate not only what has been said dozens of time, but what has been answered dozens of times.

Simply because I absolutely hate ignorance, here's the rundown: It's July. In BC, Canada. Contrary to popular belief, we actually DO have summer up here, and that's what season we're in right now (also known as Construction, but that's another tangent), so the OP was probably not being stupid enough to wear flip flops skiing. Like others have said, she probably got on the lift to check out the view from the top, have a meal if there's a restaurant there, etc., not planning on doing any horribly strenuous walking, so the flip flops would be fine.

And for those calling BS about needing a lift ticket to go back down, because 'if she's at the top she obviously took the lift up'- let's go over this concept slowly for a second. It's summer. It's summer and therefore the resorts are open in the mountains, not for skiing, but for mountain biking, hiking, etc. It's summer and therefore the resorts are open in the mountains, not for skiing, but for mountain biking, hiking, etc., and so there would be people at the top of the mountain that had hiked up rather than take the lift. It's summer and therefore the resorts are open in the mountains, not for skiing, but for mountain biking, hiking, etc., and so there would be people at the top of the mountain that had hiked up rather than take the lift, and these people WOULDN'T have paid for a lift ticket.

Holy crap, read the other posts before replying. THERE IS NO SNOW. You take a lift up to the top of the mountain, stay up there for a bit, maybe eat at the restaurant, enjoy the view and then take the lift back down.

ALL OF YOU ARE RETARDED.YES,I KNOW THE WEATHER ON THE US NEWS MAPS GREYS OUT WHEN IT GETS TO THE 49TH PARALLEL,BUT WE DONT LIVE IN ANTARCTICA.you see an amazing view by looking at the top of a mountain.you see around you.you see other mountains.it's summer.you can take the gondola up,eat at a restaurant,it's not that cold, see the sites.blah blah blah.I'm sorry that all of your preschool educations didn't include this.

Wow. People get super heated over things.

If anything, I think it's mostly just that in the 300 characters you can't be too clear about everything. People that don't live anywhere near mountains and have never gone skiing wouldn't necessarily know that ski resorts can be open year round or that ski lifts can be used for things other than...well, skiing. I'm from NJ and got confused until I read the explanations.

That said, I don't really see how this is FML-worthy. It sucks, but your life isn't f***ed.

#97 - On 07/04/2009 at 4:33am by fannylovesfelix

Did you explain what happened? I feel like so many FML's could be avoided if people just spoke up.

#98 - On 07/04/2009 at 4:59am by kaitlynadele

whythefuckwereyouwearing FLIP FLOPS???

#99 - On 07/04/2009 at 6:42am by dlogan93

reading the rest of the comments, wow. You can really tell who are Americans. Wouldn't that piss you off to find the ticket on the way down? IMO, I think its a win-win scenario for you. A lot of people lose stuff on the ski lift. On your way down, you could've totally checked out the area. What is lost from others, could be found by you :). Who knows, you could've found a new pair of hiking boots. Lol, unlikely story though.

I do see where you are coming from though, climbing a mountain alone in shoes is a difficult task, but in flip-flops? Ouch on the feet. I hope you did something for those blisters. The people on the lifts watching you go down the mountain probbably said, "What a fucking retard" lol. But it's okay. You made it down there to post your FML worthy story on Fmylife.com. So your still alive. :)

I know skiing resorts are open all year around for various activities...but i dont think its smart to wear flip flops to any of these activities. Anyways you wore flip flops and had to walk down a mountain ,poor you. YDI for wearing flip flops and being dumb!

#101 - On 07/04/2009 at 9:28am by Mikaylatte

FML because there are so many retarded people in this world... ALL of the answers are laid out like 200 times infront of you but instead you decided to comment on why she was wearing flip flops in the snow to make yourself look like an even bigger dumb ass. The sad thing is.. I run into people like you and shake my head, and then I actually pray for 2012 to be the end of the world.

#102 - On 07/04/2009 at 9:40am by iloveericmaynor

And I hate dumbasses like you who don't realize that there is some god damn summer resorts that are open all year. Why don't you take your brilliant self, and try walking down a mountain with nothing. Then we'll see whose dumb then

#104 - On 07/04/2009 at 9:44am by freakoffer

youre dumb as fuck. hes saying its obvious that the spot he was going to is a summer hiking area, but the man is probably just going for the view which you get once at the top of a ski lift. hes saying youre all retarded for not realising that, and you just highlighted his point by rambling on about something that had nothing to do with it. well done :) and walking down a mountain in flip flops wont alter how smart you are either.

and they do check. i went up Mount Etna, there were stalls at the top which you needed to scan your ticket on to get a lift down. otherwise the people who actually walked up would be able to get a free lift down.

the only fault is that they would of probably let you down if you only asked. people are usually kind

#105 - On 07/04/2009 at 11:57am by leoofbodom

Fake. If you managed to get up on the lift, they don't check on the way down.

If true, YDI for not talking to the lift attendent right after you lost it.

#103 - On 07/04/2009 at 9:41am by rocketdog

Are you guys SERIOUSLY insulting eachother, and like this - like fifth graders?
Jesus, its an anecdote. Make your comment and move on. Christ.

#107 - On 07/04/2009 at 12:31pm by Azy

This story makes no sense. If you're going up a ski lift, why are you wearing flip flops? Also, they don't ask for tickets on the way down, because if you managed to get on it in the first place obviously you have the ticket. Also, people usually don't go down using the ski lift anyway. :/

#109 - On 07/04/2009 at 2:37pm by poiuytrewqlkjhgf

Lol @ everybody not udnerstanding. You go up in flip flops because its what everybody does, or dunks or vans or whatever. You're wearing ski socks and your flip flops cuz its comfortable and u dont want to change into ski boots while going up cuz u gotta walk. Dropping ur ticket suuuuucks, but why couldnt u get a ride in one of the trucks that go down? The snow is only at the top, people. You go UP the chair, then DOWN the chair *downloading* cuz u cant ski down it. And ya, they ask for tickets on the way down. This kid is def at Momentum/Camp of Champions, or just at the public park up there. Could also be just at the top enjoying the view, but people dont usually go in flip flops, but when i was at COC last year most people wore flip flops up the lift

#110 - On 07/04/2009 at 3:27pm by k416

Holy mother of god, most of you are so mentally incompetent. Consider the possibility that she wasn't skiing and the weather was great. All right? Fantastic.

Depending on the mountain, it must've been total hell walking down in flip flops.. practically tripping over yourself the entire way. FYL.

#111 - On 07/04/2009 at 6:44pm by 26242

I'm guessing you were at grouse mountain?

#112 - On 07/04/2009 at 9:00pm by Zr0w

why were you in flip flops?
and why would they make you get a ticket to go back down when you used it to go up.. that's like paying to go up the stairs to a water slide and then paying again to go down it.. stupid
and were you not going up to ski?

#113 - On 07/05/2009 at 12:27am by mymilkshake

be glad you did not drop a flip flop

#114 - On 07/05/2009 at 2:38am by FarSide

Well, lets look at this, the OP posted from Canada, and by Canadian law the mountains are for anyone, the tickets are needed to use the lifts, so ticket checks are ALWAYS at the bottom, therefore making this story null and void.

#115 - On 07/05/2009 at 2:57am by Crash92

You don't know what you are talking about. First of all, the mountains don't belong to anyone. Marmot, Lake Louise, Whistler, etc. are all private property, owned by the operating company. Second, they check the lift tickets during the summer at the top and bottom because some people choose to hike up the top and then take the lift down or vice-versa.

#119 - On 07/05/2009 at 2:42pm by nvan97

well then they should just have tickets that are for going up and down. not just up.

#121 - On 07/05/2009 at 10:41pm by mymilkshake

WHERE YOU AT WHISTLER?
PS: Kids, it's Canada. It's summer. We climb mountains. Sometimes we just want to get to the top of mountains, breathe, then come down and we do that using our ski lifts. It's A-OKAY. No need to panic.

#116 - On 07/05/2009 at 3:21am by tamarra

why were you wearing them at the snow?
and isn't it illegal to put another human in a situation where you are in endangerment of things like frostbite n shit?

and their called thongs

#117 - On 07/05/2009 at 8:19am by RyJames
