get his name and complain. he'll get the sack and you may get some actual help
This comment has been moderated.
um.. okay? like #1 said, just complain and he'll probably get the shit he deserves
ur an idiot #2
You'll probably end up on www.notalwaysright.com any day now...
They can track who you spoke with - wig till he is fired WIG!!!!
it's hard to get good help these days....
This comment has been moderated.
man you shold get him fired
Bwahahahaha!!!! He may get fired over it, but it's still pretty damn funny!! YDI
you know, if after an hour and multiple explainations you still dont get it... hes probably right
lol its funny to call the tech support people and really piss them off,
be like
" uhm sir i still dont completely understand you, you want..me... to plug the cord... into the ... wall?" lol and just keep going on
its funny because they cant get mad and all the calls are recorded
but anyways mann that sucks lol hope you figure it out
I'm with him.
#16 - On 06/02/2009 at 10:14am by plethora
The person was terribly rude, so FYL, but I've got a feeling it was an expression of a thought that has some basis, so YDI. Wrong kind of computer? No app for the files? Something simple is wrong.
#2 you are scum
YprollyDI for being a fucking idiot, and I'm refreshing notalwaysright as we speak.
But also FYL for not being able to figure it out in the end. Ain't technology grand?
YDI for not knowing how download and install.
Online classes can be awful to get onto. Believe me. I had to go into an actual office and they had to set it up. Apparently, there was a glitch.
That's rude though. I'd complain and get him fired. It's their job to help, regardless of how long it takes.
#20 - On 06/02/2009 at 10:18am by redbluegreen
hahhahahha.. thats awesome.. Y100%DI
Wow, that gives me another reason to hate tech support, beside the fact that no one speaks english ok those things.
That sucks. Your probably not an idiot, he is.
Okay, call me an idiot, but my phone doesnt work if i am online....
My brother works in Tech Support...based on what he's told me about some of his customers...YDI. Especially if you had it explained to you multiple times...as far as getting fired goes...If tech support people got fired every time they called someone an idiot no one would be able to work in tech support.
i used to work as a csr. while there are some stupid people if anything like that was said whoever said it will loose their job. All calls are recoreded so just call back and ask to speak to a manager or superviser and get them to listn to ur conversation. you may even score some free crap out of it

burn in hell
YDI for calling Tech Support
That's rude, you should report his behaviour.
Looks like you are stupid...
Okay you probably ARE an idiot
but he's an asshole for saying that to you
he should be fired for being rude.
no offense.... but there's only so much tech support can do to fix a short between the keyboard and the chair....
Alright, completely unprofessional of him, and uncalled for. But still. That's funny as he'll bro.
Btw try googling your problem, then you won't have to deal with these funny assholes
All calls are recorded, so you could probably get him fired if you wanted to. However, you probably are an f****** idiot anyway.
Unless you have worked tech support you have no idea the stuff that they have to put up with. For example there was one time a customer came in screaming and hollering like a crazed baboon that her "brand new f***ing laptop stopped working" and trying to be as calm as possible I start asking her trouble shooting questions to which her response was "It didn't say nothin'." Then I said okay I'm going to need to take a look at it and it wouldn't power and was giving a flashing power light which means dead battery, I then ask her for her power cord "What the f*** do I need a power cord for? It's wireless, which means it don't need a plug!"
Not to excuse what the tech that you had to deal with did, but customers some times make things harder to deal with than they have to be. I wouldn't say you life is F'ed for having to deal with this tech, the tech you got was just having a bad day and for most techs that just means having clocked in as there are rarely any good days at tech support.
most tech support guys are fucking idiots
You need to report that dude. If you were following his instructions, the issue wasn't on your end, it was with his lack of knowledge as to what was wrong.
I don't know, your grammar is kind of making me want to side with the idiot part. I'm not usually the grammar nazi, but how has no one pointed that one out?
Complete sentances much?
The tech. guy was of course rude and uncalled for. Totally unprofessional.
I side with the techie here.
Assuming he really tried to explain it to you understandably, I really get how he was annoyed and upset by your still not getting it after an hour. His behavior was rude but you probably pissed him off first, you probably weren't his first idiotic user, and we techies can take only so much before we snap. We're humans, too.
And, yeah, of course, #13, it's TOTALLY hilarious to call support and piss people off by acting like a moron because they can't get mad and because you can. It's especially reasonable to be an asshole to people whose help might once save your ass. How old are you, 15?
#43 - On 06/02/2009 at 10:28am by no_one
What the tech support guy did was inappropriate and bad customer service. He should have escalated your issue to a level 2 tech or supervisor to get it resolved. I hope you got the tech's name because If I were you, I'd call back and demand to speak to a manager and file a complaint about him.
You probably are an idiot.
To everyone who thinks the tech support guy should be fired: How do you know this wasn't his "I've had it, I quit" moment?
He probably got off the phone and created a scene, yelling "Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, you're cool, and fuck you, I'm out!"
Hahahahah! Funy.. Srry 4 you though lol
Considering how difficult it is to find/keep a job these days, its rather shocking what lousy help people still receive. That sucks majorly.
#40- SPELL "sentences" much?
This comment has been moderated.
Notalwaysright will probably have an entry about this soon.
I have to agree with the Tech Support guy. You spend 4 years, maybe more, learning how computers work, how to fix them, etc etc, then you spend your day walking people through how to make a new folder, or how to download a file for hours.
Lol... Tech support people suck. I agree with the other people though, just complain about it.
I've been working in a call centre for 5 years. It was only once that I hind up cuz the person was a complete goof. The company ignored his complain after listening to the recording
The dude should be fired I mean ya u couldn't do it but that's no way to talk to a costumer
how unprofessional
#60 - On 06/02/2009 at 10:53am by Juli
Wow, he either gave his 2 weeks notice or he's about to I bet. I agree with the people who said call and complain. If you don't have his name, have them check your account for who accessed it last or something.
If someone from Tech support tells you that after hours of explaining then YDI! Get a brain.
PICNIC : Problem in chair, not in computer. Case closed.
Some one should fire that guy
If you've ever worked in tech support, you'd understand the tech's frustration.
are you an idiot? or were his instructions vague?
How did you figure out how to post an FML?
Haha, just kidding. That sucks, go file a complaint. Even if you're actually a dumb dull and can't get his instructions, he's paid to help you.
You probably are an idiot.
#71 - On 06/02/2009 at 11:07am by ellameno
What a douchebag. I work with the public and no matter how frustrated you get, you can't talk to customers like that. He should be fired or at least reprimanded.
@ #38 Wow! I don't understand people who start screaming whenever something stops working. Maybe they have childhood traumas for not getting enough attention lol?
And for OP; he probably just had a bad day and you don't seem to be good with computers. I'm just an average computer user yet I've been the 'tech support' for some of my friends, it gets extremely annoying pretty fast.
Well maybe you are stupid.
OP: PEBCAK?: Problem exists between chair and keyboard?
I work in tech support. I know the kinds of calls we receive all~ the time. On the other hand, that was rude and unprofessional. I can't say I don't blame him, but really.
I only click FYL because you couldn't figure out what happened after an hour of support.
I agree with the tech guy.
YDI definitely.
Lmao
#13
Are you 12 years old? These people actually have this for a job, if you bother them because you think it's funny, go die.
I'm not sure. I'd say YDI and FYL are both viable options. YDI because he's probably right, FYL... because he's probably right.
If you take online classes make sure to know basic stuff about computers.
must be because you ARE a fucking idiot
I hope that call was monitored for quality assurance! If not, I would call back and ask for a manager, give the time/date/description of the problem. This person should be reported, there is no excuse for treating someone like that. I have two degrees and no job and I would LOVE to help people! I would never dream of treating someone like that.
Haha, I called them because my internet wouldn't work. My kitten chewed the cord. I felt like an idiot, but they never said anything, they just laughed.
That sucks though, I'd complain.
A large percentage of computer problems can be diagnosed as PEBCAK - Problem exists between chair and keyboard. Chances are, you deserved this. An hour of repeated downloading instructions sounds pretty incriminating. For anyone saying the tech should be reported and filed, you try helping people who have no idea what they're doing with a simple problem for hours on end, 8 hours a day, every single day and see how long you can go before losing it after a while. Go ahead, try.
You should know more 'bout computers.
Sounds like Techie was right.. After an hour and you still cant get it to work you are a moron...
I work in tech support, and anybody that needs more than 10 minutes of help IS a f'in moron, sorry to say it.
people keep saying you should complain and he should get fired. i COMPLETELY disagree...all this complaining in this goddamn country is getting real annoying. when you're being a "fucking idiot", people should tell you...so you know. i had to do customer service for about a year and a half, and to be honest, i think a lot of people would have been better off if i could have told 'em "you're a fucking idiot, you shouldn't own a computer".
p.s.: i think everyone should work retail or customer service for some period of time, because you find out pretty damn quick-fast that the customer is definitely not always right
I agree with him did you ever think of having them come to your house?idiot and a loser
@90 That is one thing I got so tired of hearing the customers say "I am the customer, I am right!" Whomever came up with that saying should be stabbed repeatedly with a rusty spork!
You deserve it dumbass. Learn how to use a computer.
DUST
#96 - On 06/02/2009 at 11:35am by Hewy48
Although you can go ahead and complain about it to the company, if you got called a FUCKING IDIOT by TECH SUPPORT, then it's pretty obvious what level of intelligence you possess.
@97 That depends on the company most companies unless the tech is on probation will record randomly and rarely even if they give the general disclaimer of your call being recorded.
HahahahahahahHahha that sux dude
U shoulda told him to fuck off and get a real job!
W H A T S C H O O L ? ? ? LOFL
Yea... i had this problem with dell... I had to enter in commands on my computer and the guy was repeating them to me over the phone and i was typing them all in right it just wouldn't go through... i told the guy that this was happening and he kept getting annoyed with mea nd was getting more sarcastic.... douche bags he really pissed me off i had to pay them fucking 256 dollars to do this. #95 or whate4ver the fuck some people are technically inclined stop being a bitch :P
btw.. some places such as delll insist that you do shit over the phone unless your computer is really fucked... less money to spend for them...
You know you probably are doing something really stupid, but its probably not your fault you don't know how to use a computer.
You're not an idiot but you are a computer idiot.
Do all of us a favor and stay away from online course and computers!
wtf is it with all this retards saying "get him fired!" ?
so u want to ruin a mans carrier for having a little outburst because of a complete idiot who prolly dont understand shit about computers?
Wow.. Did he say it in an indian accent?!
they actually deleted number 2 coment off of here wish I could've seen it but neway imnot usually mean to tech support becuz I used to b one but I would have his A fired bigtime!!
Tech support guys are usually on a time table. If one call takes excessively long then it screws up their quota and they get in trouble. So I can see why he got pissed because you couldn't figure out how to do something as simple as download a few files after an hour of trying. Don't blame the tech support guys, blame the system.
I work for a school's tech support (I'm a student there too) and you people piss me off. Learn to use a fucking computer. YDI.

He is probably right. It's usually user error.
Call back. Get a manager. Have the jerk fired. That kind of action is what makes people abuse help lines. I've fired people for less.
Yeah, most customer servers don't know how to properly do things and when you get help from them, they will complain about it. Just file a complaint against him. They're paying him money when he doesn't deserve it.
If you truly are an idiot, like the people who repeatedly click cancel when told to click next, then nothing will happen from his calling you an idiot. Other than his superior getting a good chuckle when he reviews the call (if they actually do that - alot of places only say they are recording when they aren't)
If you actually did everything right, you didn't neglect to tell him you were using a browser/interface incompatible with the system etc, than yes he can get in trouble. But he definately wouldn't get fired over calling one person an idiot one time - especially not after dealing with them for an hour. At most that would be a days suspension, but usually just a verbal or written reprimand
its an i.d. ten T error, ID10T
I guess its not a complete fail, he was able to speak clear english.
What nerve! Ha and pretty funny. I bet he knew that u didnt catch his name so he went all in risking his job to say that. I commend him for his efforts.
So basically you wasted an hour of a tech support guy's time. Definitely an 1D107 error. Seriously how hard is it to open a file, freaking double click the thing.
Does anyone else notice that #23's grammar was bad when he was saying how they can hardly speak english on the support lines?
Lol ouchhhhh
#125 - On 06/02/2009 at 12:38pm by kjh
He is fucking stupid
#126 - On 06/02/2009 at 12:39pm by rockingclarissa
He's probably right, but that was still inappropriate to say...
im sorry but am i the only person who thinks that the OP totally deserved this???
@119, I typed this on my iPhone, so it auto-corrected everything.
You deserved it for being such a dumb ass
YDI for wasting an hour his life on something that probably can be fixed in 5 min.
are you a retard? juat playin, get him FIRED
wow. you must be pretty slow if tech support actually lost patience with you. cause they have to deal with some STUPID shit on a day to day basis and they usually dont hang up on those people/
#134 - On 06/02/2009 at 12:52pm by fuckthiscity
Seriously, he deserves to be fired.
Wow, he "said you're a fucking idiot," and it still doesn't work. That always works for me.
you probably had a glitch with your computer so he's a "fucking idiot" for not assuming it
to anyone who thinks they deserve it and tech support is right, stfu kthx
Sometimes I wonder if my computer skills will ever be needed... but then I hear another story like this.
1. Check whether you're using the right program to open the document.
2. Next, try and find the right program.
3. If that doesn't work, right click on the file and click on "open with."
4. Select "notepad."
You can probably figure it out from there.
i give him the benefit of the doubt that you're a fucking idiot. i use to work in tech support and there's a lot idiots out there. i mean usually the answer to their question is that they either didn't turn something on or forgot to plug something in.
while he was rude and out of line,
you probably are a fucking idiot.
seriously, an hour to open downloaded files?
I would have done the same thing.
Wow...that sucks. Just complain
YDI for not being able to open files... LOL. The tech guy was right :|
As someone who's worked in IT before, YDI if a techie can't help you in an hour's worth of time.
If he was starting to lose it, then there's more to this story than you're telling us. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume you did what most people do before they write an FML.
YDI for being a douche to him first. He has a right to refuse service for any reason.
Well you
Must be a fucking idiot
You deserved it for being so incredibly ignorant and not being able to follow simple instructions.
For the rest of you saying that the person was rude and should be fired, of course it was rude but you obviously didn't read the FML where he said for an HOUR. If it's not already hard enough to try to troubleshoot or fix something over the phone for an hour, imagine repeating the same instructions just because a person cannot comprehend it. Those tech people have years of computer training then specialized training within their own company's products. You would have to work at tech support to understand how many morons they deal with every day for simple problems. Maybe you all don't understand it because you havn't been around enough stupid people in your lives.
A similar thing happened to me where the woman on the phone was being really offensive and impatient and when I said "Can you please not shout at me" she hung up. When I called back her boss defended her and said he couldn't do anything about it because I didn't have proof she hung up on me! I'm still in pain over this and it happened like five years ago! :-(
I've done a lot of tech support before switching to network administration and most of the time, confusion is caused by the person calling for support. The person calling for support will give you wrong or misleading information even if they don't know they are doing it. Help desk and tech support have to deal with this all day and can only take so much. So YDI.
Aren't those conversations recorded? If that one wad he's totally gonna get fired.
thats cold... im guessing he has temperissues?
Working in tech support myself this is a complete FYL. A GOOD tech support person can do two things right
1) Diagnose the issue properly
2) Speak on a level that the user can understand
He obviously failed at one of the two item above. He's mad because he sucks at his job. Its his job to work on a level that the average user can understand and work at a pace that works for you. It is not your job to understand shortcuts and lingo unfamiliar to you.
That was lame of him.
I use a Mac computer and had to ask for special software to make some of my school's virtual aspects work. You don't own a mac, do you?
Everyone who thinks the tech should be fired can be summed up in the truest sign ever made for a store:
"The customer is not always right. Most of the time, the customer is a clueless moron. If this sign upsets you, YOU are this moron."
That applies especially to #139
Why do we have to waste our time coddling people who don't want to be called what they are? In a sane world, the OP would have been called an idiot and hung up on after a few minutes and then someone who really had an advanced problem that required professional help could be assisted sooner.
#41
"I don't know, your grammar is kind of making me want to side with the idiot part...Complete sentances much?"
You misspelled sentence. Lol.
I wouldn't be surprised if the OP is a fucking idiot and was doing something wrong, not one bit.
I have no patience for the computer illiterate. NONE. The only excuse for this is if you're 82 and have never used a computer before (and even some 82 year olds get it).
I don't feel sorry for you. You deserve it for not knowing how to follow directions and install a simple program.
RhymePrime- hahaha6(#40) has been made aware of his/her error, and has very graciously conceded the point.
Call again and get that ass fired!
I agree with number 12. If you can't figure out how to open files on your computer than why the hell are you taking an online course? YFDI.
That was very unprofessional. If he was that frustrated with you, he should have transferred you to a another Tech or Supervisor.
I would call back and complain. Even if it was a step you missed or didn't understand, you don't deserve to be treated that way.
#169 - On 06/02/2009 at 2:27pm by Jennydew
I work tech support, and while I think he was being rude to you, I can't imagine having to spend an hour on fixing a problem like that. In order for that to happen there must have been a misunderstanding between you two somewhere along the line, because no tech call should take longer than 20 minutes, in the years I've been doing it.
I think you kind of deserved it, but that's based on my own experience with clueless customers who can't grasp simple concepts. I do think he was needlessly rude to you though. Most of us tech people have pretty amazing patience if you consider how many people we have to support who are just as bad if not worse.
What's with people thinking the tech guy should be fired just for getting angry with one customer? I could see a reprimand or even a suspension, but people need to pull their heads out of their asses and stop thinking themselves so important that anyone who is the least bit terse with them deserves to lose their job.
People working in Tech Support have to deal with stupid problems all day. Between equipment not being plugged in or turned on and people who can't follow instructions on screen, it makes one rather irritable.
At what point do you begin to ask your self the real question: Maybe he's right.
Well maybe if you understood it the first time, he wouldn't have had to call you a fucking idiot. YDI...
That's probably because you are a fucking retard.
I'll have to agree with #174
Oh come on, you gotta know what tech support has gotta feel sometime.lol jk :) What a jerk!
WOO #6 :D
Call the company and act really pissed off and complain and threaten to sue. They might give u some free shit lol.
What the hell? All you people bitching that they didn't know how to use a computer are stupid, thats what tech support is fucking for. Just like its his job to not be a dickwad to a customer. Yeah, people have some dumb problems, but that's part of the job. Get a new job or get over it.
#179 - On 06/02/2009 at 2:59pm by Megan_515
I call fake. Tech support can't yell at you like that. I've called for worse/dumber problems and nobody has ever yelled at me like that.
That would piss me off to.
@179 actually tech support is there to walk you through a problem and help to find a resolution, it has nothing to do with teaching you how to use a computer.
He probably got fired for saying that though.
Huahahaha, thats funny. Chances are he was Indian and thats why you couldn't understand... Unless of course you have no idea how a computer works and he was asking you to press the power button.
Tbh u sound like an idiot, it shudnt be that difficult if they talked u thru it, stupid ppl shud be banned from technology
Get his name and report the stupid guy.
He probably didn't have any more patience, what an asshole. |:
Hahaha, he said that? That's amazing!
But usually those Tech support guys are like from Taiwan or India or someplace. I'm going to assume that you are a citizen of the greatest country in the world... America. an American shouldn't take crap from an Indian. you should've put Babu in his place!
#187 - On 06/02/2009 at 3:29pm by TheAmazingRacist
If it took an hour, you probably are an idiot. People don't take ANY personal responsibility for learning how to use the computer. It's why I've stopped doing anything resembling tech support for family and friends.
Imagine somebody going to an auto mechanic saying their car won't start. And after an hour he figures out that there's no gas in the car. Those are the kinds of stupid situations tech support people deal with.
Hey, another fake FML.
facepalm
You could just get that guy fired. Can't you? Ydi for being an idiot and not understanding. Imagine how annoying that would be
If you had to be led through multiple times and still didn't get it. Then you are an idiot.
Wow i would have got his name and reported him
Rofl, but yeah you should complain
Well, are you?
LOL just kidding.
Call and complain just as most people are suggesting. Get his sorry ass fired!
YDI if you gave him reason to do this. If you had a difficult problem to solve then he wouldn't call you that. There is no excuse to not be able to use the basic functions on a computer nowadays.
#197 - On 06/02/2009 at 3:54pm by Ra
Lol he was probably just frustated because he was having a bad day. Don't take it personally I can barely get my computer to turn on half the time!
an hour?! call resolution should be Minutes!! your incompetence jeopardizes his security. i would swear too. theyre tech SUPPORT, not Tech Tutoring. sorry but take a frickin class if u cant get up to speed on your own. wth. every1 in c/s should do Everything?! where does this entitlement come from??
I work in classrooms to help students who are developmentally and physically challenged. Some days it's a struggle to get students to comply with my requests/directions. Other days it's a struggle to even get students to do basic math.
I can't just tell one of my students "You're a fucking idiot" and walk out of the classroom. I'd be ripped a new one by faculty, administration, and parents. I understand the frustration of the worker, but it's completely uncalled for them to say something like that to a customer. It's their/my job to help to the best of their/my ability without snapping.
Not saying it's not difficult, but if you can't handle the "idiots" of the world, then find a new job.
That guy must have some serious anger poblems.
Wow I'm sure he was kidding
I worked in tech support a long long time ago. I vote, your an idiot.
I had some customers with legitimate problems, that could be fixed in a matter of minutes.
I had some customers who I could spend hours on the phone with them, babysitting them through every mouse click. They still wouldn't get it. I never told anyone they were an idiot, but sure as hell I thought it.
We had one guy who was the master of putting people on hold to bitch about them. One of the times, he didn't hit the hold button enough. That made it up the chain of command. He was told not to ever do that again. I made it clear to people, if you're going to bitch about the customer, make very sure they're on hold first. Easy enough.
If it took an hour to talk you through downloading from a link, well ... you're an idiot.
I did get to the point a few times where I told customers, "to explain this any better, I'm going to need to get on an airplane, fly out to your city, rent a car, drive out to your house, and click "Yes" for you, or you can do it yourself. The company won't pay for my travel expenses to spend 2 seconds clicking "Yes", so you're either going to need to provide your credit card number so I can make the required purchases and I'll be out there in 3 days, or you can figure out that you can click the "Yes" button."
They'd click it, and say "Oh, that was easy, thank you."
I hate customers. 10% are good customers that you'll never hear from unless there's a problem, and even then they're polite about it. If there's a problem, we already know so we can just confirm that it's being worked on. The other 90% are complete idiots that I'm surprised that they could even figure out to sign their name on the credit card receipt to buy the computer in the first place.

I could try to help you out if you want me to. Email me at coolgameworm@gmail.com if you want me to try and help
youre taking online classes, odds are the guy is right
@205 you know by doing that you just got yourself signed up for every porn spam site known to man. Hope you have a good spam filter.
Just fyi, WE FIGURED OUT THE PROBLEM. I had to go to the office with my laptop and have someone actually look at it. The correct folder wasn't put on my CD, and they gave me the wrong CD. It was the CD for PC's, I needed the Mac CD
YDI for sure. If after an hour of him explaining the process you still didn't get it, you are indeed a fucking idiot. Please take your computer, pack it back up in the box, and return it to the store because you clearly should not be using one.
Ok anyone who doesn't know how to work a fucking computer is retarded and should be killed. Hope you don't have any offspring, asshole. Oh I forgot, you don't have anyone in your life anyway. YDI
#209 - On 06/02/2009 at 4:38pm by 0geckofun_
I just read that you're using a mac. You're a fucking idiot for sure.
#179, tech support is for real problems. Computers can be extremely complex. There is a world of knowledge out there to be learned, so becoming qualified to fix some of these very complex problems takes a lot of time, effort, and aptitude. So imagine dedicating all those resources into earning the required certification and other qualifications, only to be stuck for an hour helping someone do something a 3 year old can do. Now imagine repeating that for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year (I'm gonna assume a two week vacation for simplicity) for years on end. Can you imagine how demoralizing that is? How frustrating it is to put so much effort into getting a position that allows you to solve real problems for competent people doing useful things, but instead you are forced to deal with the equivalent of the driver who took his car to the mechanic because he didn't know how to put gas in the tank?
#200, well it is in your job description that you're specifically dealing with developmentally challenged. If this tech support worker was working for the "Developmentally Challenged Support Line" then yes, he'd be in the same place. Otherwise, it is only reasonable to expect a limitation on the patience one has while dealing with someone who has embraced their own mediocrity because they perceive a lack of consequences. The customer is not always right, period. If they were, what would you need experts for?

Maybe you're a fucking idiot
Maybe he had a point there....(just a thought)
OP has a Mac. That literally explains everything we need to know here. YDI X1000. Case closed.
I got the wrong fucking CD. Of course it wouldn't work. You guys are selective readers.
This was a clear case of the "Infamous 1D-10T Error" hahaha. Anyone in I.T. should know this one...
Tech support guys are usually on a time table. If one call takes excessively long then it screws up their quota and they get in trouble. So I can see why he got pissed because you couldn't figure out how to do something as simple as download a few files after an hour of trying. Don't blame the tech support guys, blame the system.
YDI.
If having spent an hour speaking to a tech guy, for something as simple as the OP's problem, and you still can't figure it out, one of two things has happened.
1.) You are repeatedly doing a step incorrectly
2.) You have left out some essential information
Both of which will be your fault. People also have a general habit of talking to people in call centres like shit as well, as if the caller has some sort of god-given right to have everything fixed for them because they are too stupid to fix it themselves.
And to all those saying "oh my god fire him waaaaaaaa", jesus, get some thicker skin.
A simple rule in life is: if a tech guy calls you a fucking idiot (relating to your computer proficiency), 99% of the time he is right and you have been wasting his time because you haven't been listening properly.
Best FML yet you f*cking idiot
OP: "I got the wrong fucking CD. Of course it wouldn't work. You guys are selective readers."
And you never thought to check the CD? You never thought "Hey, most of the computer using world uses PCs by default, and Macs have compatibility issues with a lot of software. I should make sure mine is Mac compatible."? You never mentioned the possibility of this incompatibility to the tech support? Heck, even when I get software for my PC, the very first thing I do is make sure it is compatible with PCs, and compatible with the specs for my machine. That's just common sense.
The only thing that could slightly redeem this in the OPs favor is if she specifically told the tech she was using a Mac and the tech didn't follow up by asking her to make sure it was the Mac version. Then again, I could definitely understand not wanting to ask such a common sense question since that would insult the intelligence of the average user. Imagine "Today, I called tech support and they asked me to make sure my software was Mac compatible after I mentioned I have a Mac. They must assume I am an idiot. FML" Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Agree with #221.
I assume the CD says PC or Mac on it.
lmfao
YDI for being computer incompetant.
Even if you are an idiot, he can't do that. Either this is BS or you need to complain to the company.
#222 a lot of people don't know the difference between Mac and PC. All they know is it's a computer.
You should have called them back and said "no your a fucking idiot
uhgg!! #75 seriously most 12 year olds arent stupid- i would take that as a fucking compliment!!
you douchebag..
I suspect this Support Person was correct. From the terminology in your entry, it sounds like you don't know much about computers. I am imagining you are like my dad. He would get the smack from a Support person as well and I would totally think its justified
this tech guy is a fucking idiot
just remember: you have friends, and he doesn't!

YDI for being an idiot.
#234 - On 06/02/2009 at 6:02pm by elfuzzo
yeah, call back, ask for a manager, and say what happened.
mofo is gonna loose his job. in that kind of job, you NEVER EVER do something like that.
hell, if he was being monitored, he could already be fired.
Hey, #41, don't even THINK about ragging on the poster about their grammar. Especially when your grammar AND spelling is absolutely atrocious!
I'm sorry, but no one deserves to be called a "fucking idiot" by a professional who's there to specifically help people! That guy deserves to loose his job, seriously. There's thousands of people looking for jobs now, if he's not willing to take it seriously he doesn't deserve the job he has!
#236 - On 06/02/2009 at 6:13pm by mezochan
The techie indeed fails for being a douche, but I remain suspicious of anyone who uses the phrase "it won't let me" with computers. If you're talking about a computer like it's an autonomous entity with agency and desires, you don't understand the computer and therefore, how to maintain it.
What an asshole! God, that's what those people get paid to do.
Oh my god my teachers always give me that look but they no they can't say it
#239 - On 06/02/2009 at 6:23pm by
@151 - I worked at my school's tech support. The only training at tech support I was given was a link to a website. I was hired because I had previously worked on designing alot of the universities webpages - I was hired from that job due to information I learned from Neopets Html guide.
that happened to me. try using firefox instead if you're using internet explorer.
#222 - You want this dog?! (Apologies if you weren't making the reference I think you were)
Anyway, I work the best type of tech support - on-site. I speak with my users in person. It means I really can't call people idiots to their face, but it also means that if someone doesn't get it I can go and do it for them.
If I worked on a phone line (a job I've been asked to switch to many times, but refuse), I don't know how much restraint I'd be able to show. Many callers ARE idiots, and even with the additional information the OP provided in the comments, I'm pretty sure she's one of them.
haha that is totally something i would say. sometimes i wonder why i work in customer service.
You may or may not have deserved it, depending on how much of a fucking idiot you really are and how well (or poorly) the tech support guy was explaining the process.
You're probably an idiot, if it takes you over an hour and multiple walkthroughs you probably shouldn't be using the internet. Plus the way you word it convinces me you don't know what you're talking about.
Damn, that sucks.
It's their JOB to help you with that shit.
Don't sweat it. Just report him.
If you call tech support, and they say ur a fucking idiot, you might be a redneck.
I don't believe this person. They are probably making it up. No person would say something like that to a customer. I smell bullsh*t
I agree with the support guy you are an itiot
ur probably just a fucking retard that doesn't know how to work your computer. the reason he said that is most likely because the answer is right in front of you
An hour? Well, one of you HAS to be an idiot.
You're an idiot. Really, an hour on the phone? And I bet you were soooo polite about it too. No, you were probably screaming and insulting him and treating him like a peon. I have no sympathy for you.
You're using a Mac. In a world where Macs are a very tiny minority, and all Mac users should know about this. And you didn't think to check if your software was the Mac version.
Then he was right. l2computer.
HAHAHA but i love people like that
they tell you just how it is
and nothing ever happens when they do, punishment wise
and you don't know the whole story, he could be quitting
thats hella funny
fuck his life for dealing with you
obviously you did something to dserve it
people that work at jobs like that arnt really like that
HAHA
That is the funniest thing I have read on FML in a long time. I'm sure every tech support person wants to say that to every caller. You just got the one who had the balls to do it.
People who are saying to get him fired need a reality check. The tech guy had to repeat simple instructions to the OP for OVER AN HOUR. The OP is obviously an idiot. Also you want this guy to be fired simply for losing his patience with a really stupid customer. Getting fired is a big deal and being unemployed can really damage some ones lifestyle and on the flip side, calling someone an idiot is not a big deal. If you get some one fired for calling you an idiot you are a fucking asshole.
i doubt he actually said 'you're a fucking idiot,' because those calls are monitored- those slip ups don't happen (i should know). I suspect you embalished the story to make it funnier.
Well as much as you want to complain don't because of the economy
Dude the same thing happened to me with geek squad
I moderated this not that anyone care...
lol.... i got a good chuckle out of this :)
#267 - On 06/02/2009 at 9:47pm by anonnie
It's his job to help u should report him
i hate talking to those damn people from india
You probably are a fucking idiot.
Call back and talk to a supervisor. I had a website with one of those home sales companies once, that allowed you to change your site's name through another company. All the instructions were encrypted or something and came through completely garbled. I tried for weeks to get it working, downloaded it in every program I had, all the tech people said it should work. But it didn't. It would either refuse to open or come up a mass of senseless symbols and gibberish. I ended up not renewing my contract with them.
YDI. I work tech support, and I can pretty much guess exactly what kind of customer you are. IT people often have people with real, pressing problems to help, but then they get stuck with someone like you, who obviously failed at following basic instructions/correctly conveying information, for what feels like forever, with no progress at all. The guy was giving you a desperately needed reality check. For the love of god, just stay away from computers.
lol at all the people whining to get him fired. WAAAAAAA SOMEONE CALLED ME AN IDIOT BAWWWWWWWWWWW
YDI for calling tech support. There's better tech support, it's called Google.
I have to agree with #12. There's no way he'd be pushed to say that unless it was true. YDI
Call the manager or supervisor of the company and tell them what the little nerd fuck said and his ass will be fired.
#275 - On 06/02/2009 at 10:42pm by deathproof
This is too fucking funny!
haha are you really tht stupid that u cant follow simple directions?! lol anywys fyl
Ok I call it your falt I do some over the phone computer repars and some ppl r so stupid u jest want to find them and slap them
We don't know how the conversation went. Maybe you really are an idiot. He doesn't have to say it to your face (or ear), but maybe you should follow the instructions more thoroughly, obviously he lost his patience with you.
At least you know how to work FML.. lol
This is why I hate tech support. Most of the representatives suck and don't know how to use computers and they all have thick Indian accents. The accents really piss me off.
"Reboot the what? Download the what?"
i hate computers. but dont tell them that. then they'll just flip out on you more. Its true
LOL, there were 8000 YDI's when I read this on the mainpage and 8032 when I clicked on it.
He needs to work on interacting with people on fixing problems, no matter how big or small they may be to him.
if your working with low level tech support you probably are a fucking idiot
i work tech support for medical software and i have to agree most of the people have no idea how to run a computer. i've wanted to call people idiots more than not, so you probably deserved it.
100 bucks says the tech guy was indian
Get him fired tho I can sympathize with him what r u an eighty yr old grannie?!
good on him for calling it how it is.
youre a fucking idiot. if you do get him fired, youre a bigger fucking idiot cos now not only are you stupid, but youre lacking the balls to acknowledge when you fuck something up.
idiot.
ha! i AM a tech support guy. let me tell you, all calls are NOT recorded! just some. it's luck of the draw if a call is recorded or not. the vast majority aren't. so, all you assholes out there . . . go ahead and act stupid. i'll hang up, or get "accidentally" disconnected and then "forget" to call you back . . . then put in the notes of the call that i DID try to call you back after you hung up on me. yeah.
and really . . . all of you IDIOTS out there . . . you need to take some classes to learn how to use your fucking computer before your parents buy you one. i mean really . . . you kids these days were BORN with a computer in your fucking hand as your mother gave birth to you.
and i'm NOT old and bitter . . . i'm 25. F *all* of Y L's.
you probably ARE a fucking idiot
#180. That's a sterotype
You fail.
I'm with #291, you must be a fucking idiot otherwise you'd be able to get it to work
"click 'start'"
"click what?"
Sorry but u r a fucking idiot just joking computers are really hard to masterhe was very mean
@154/Babawaba : Please go die.
lmao. I did tech support for years while in highschool and a bit after, and fuck are people ever retarded. He's probably right, and doesn't care if he gets fired
After an hr...ur a fucking idiot. Its an online class. How the hell did you get in? Better yet, if you suck with technology, why take the chance? Dumbass
holy shit! they mut hate ther jobs?
I call fake. Every tech support operator has a supervisor who listens to each call to make sure that the operator does their job right and is polite and receptive. Only someone who hated their job and who was also a giant retard would even think of doing something like that.
I agree with the tech guy. Were you one of those kids that couldn't do simple puzzles in first, second, third..grade??
"Getting fired is a big deal and being unemployed can really damage some ones lifestyle and on the flip side, calling someone an idiot is not a big deal. If you get some one fired for calling you an idiot you are a fucking asshole."
That's one of the most ridiculous things I've read in a while. It doesn't matter how annoying a customer is you gotta just do your job. In his case it was repeating simple instructions. Someone that is unprofessional enough to tell a customer "You're a fucking idiot" totally deserves to get fired. Especially when so many people just want a job.
To the OP, Call back and get this douchebag fired. He doesn't deserve to have a job!
Lmfaooooooo hahahhahahahahhahajaahaaa sue him and get $$
Google it next time:)
you do know where the internet cord goes into right?
I'm pretty convinced you haven't heard of Wi-Fi yet...
Technically, you used a period where a comma should have went at the end of your second sentence, effectively making no sense. Might be a hint of idiot in you?
Agreed with the rest. Lodge a complaint.
YDI for being an idiot, put yourself in his shoes and see how you feel. FHL for having to listen to you for an hour.
He's gone with you through the process multiple times and you never got it.
I'm surprised that you actually managed to use FML and submit one.
YDI for being so stupid and dumbass.
did you ever stop to think that in all likelyhood you are an idiot and should not be using computers? food for thought...
1. That kinda sucks .
2. You must be reeeally bad with tech stuff .
3. They must get a lot of people who require help, if he said that to you, you mustve been preeettttty dumb.
4. Or he's just an impatiant mofo.
:)
Wow... Seriously? you went through the process step by step and you still couldn't get it. Either, the Technical specialist you spoke with is entirely correct, that you are "A fucking idiot." or there is something wrong with your browser.
Run some updates, get a new version of IE or something like that, either there is something wrong with your computer 1 way or another, or you truly are an idiot.
I call BS. They record those calls. He would be fired on the spot!!
Problem exists between chair and keyboard. Kudos to the tech guy for realizing it, too bad it took him an hour.
Complain. Talk to a boss or someone important.
Let me guess, PC? Microsoft really sucks....
I was SO thinking of notalwaysright.com when reading this...
I work as a helpdesk agent and, trust me, there are people who really deserve this kind of statement. You can't tell them that, obviously, but they deserve it. Once I've spent 15 minutes explaining to a guy where "Enter" is. I mean, if you can't figure it out for the first dozen times, you're a complete idiot.
As for you, YDI. You're probably just stupid.
I KNOW the feeling. My community college website WON'T load, although EVERY other website will, and it loads in my roommates room! I've spent the past 3 hours on the phone with the college, mediacom, geeksquad, and the problem is unresolved. The class started 3 days ago. We aren't idiots!
You're a fucking idiot *click*
Ummmm that was me
Just kidding
wow that sucks....

Call back and get them fired
i agree with the tec support guy
#332 - On 07/01/2009 at 4:56pm by YDIprobably
I have to deal with morons like you on a daily bases at my job. It's reasons like this why I always say people need to be licensed to operate a computer at home. If you can't do the simplest tasks on one like telling me what the hell your operating system is, you have no reason to own one. Learn to operate a damn computer and stop making us hold your damn hand when you have no clue what you're doing!
