Must be someone else with the same name?
Paternity test!! lol
Well, at least it sounds like you have a solid case... but you still have to go to court and probably retain a lawyer. You life sounds pretty f--ked right now.
Probably a joke. Notice by mail is not adequate notice for a child support law suit. A sheriff should have delivered them to you in person. I would call the court. There should have been a number in the information you received (if legit) and you can cite the case number. I am no legal expert, but even if its a legit lawsuit, a lawyer could have it dismissed pursuant to Fed. R. Civ. P. 12(b) 6 - Lack of personal jurisdiction because they did not adequately serve notice.

How are you still a 22 year old virgin?

#5 - On 02/11/2009 at 2:52pm by Geoff
real court papers like that arent served through the mail...
#6 - On 02/11/2009 at 2:57pm by amebix
I'm in my 20s and still a virgin too. You're not alone. And I understand the pain.
#7 - On 02/11/2009 at 3:02pm by sun
Court papers certainly are sent through the mail, and it's not always by certified mail
#8 - On 02/11/2009 at 3:15pm by TTT

#5 - Why do you automatically think it's a female? :I
#10 - On 02/11/2009 at 3:51pm by LogicalLlama

#11 - On 02/11/2009 at 3:51pm by B.
I lost my virginity when I was 24 and got into a relationship and immediately cheated on her with another girl, so the player inside of my came out late

#3: 12(b)(6) is dismissal for failure to state a claim upon which relief can be granted. And the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure only apply in federal courts. The state is probably suing in state court.
Depending on the state, mail service may be perfectly appropriate--the only overarching requirement is that the service be reasonably calculated to give notice, and mail service is (especially if certified).
#10 hmmm i have no idea...interesting
If this is true, it could be very bad depending in what state you live in. There have been cases of females putting down the name of the father and even though a DNA proved the guys not to be the fathers the courts still made them pay. See an attorney as fast as you can....unless you were playing around without penetration(since you claim to be a virgin) you still ejaculated on her vagina, and your swimmers got to the..your life is fucked egg.
#15 - On 02/11/2009 at 4:14pm by truth
Real court papers like that ARE served through the mail, depending on the state. My son's father was served through the mail because he didn't live here at the time, and he was military.
Good luck. Call the child support office number that's on the paperwork and tell them you want a paternity test before you start signing the papers and agreeing to it. Grab a lawyer while you're at it.

You're not f'ed if you don't have any kids (if you honestly are a virgin.. So idk why would you would even worry about it.
#18 - On 02/11/2009 at 4:49pm by Ladygirl
If papers showed up randomly, he probably doesn't even know the mother in question. Maybe if you decide to start paying for the kid you can establish a relationship with the mother and get laid finally?
#20 - On 02/11/2009 at 5:25pm by Cubs
Um you don't need the entire first sentence for this to be an FML, 22? Really?
#12 you fail so much at life
#24 - On 02/11/2009 at 6:01pm by dunlyku
Seriously? Y'all are f***ed up. How do you know this person isn't a virgin by choice? There are still people who believe in saving themselves for marriage. I know many, of both genders, and I find it admirable that they can stick to their convictions through all relationships.
#25 - On 02/11/2009 at 6:16pm by fleg
Will you marry me?
#26 - On 02/11/2009 at 10:26pm by IOG
Haha, I have to agree with #26. I commend you for being 22 and still a virgin, as am I.
We should talk, maybe?!
#27 - On 02/11/2009 at 11:19pm by Tiff
It's nice to know there are others who are virgins at this "young" adult stage in life. :).
#28 - On 02/11/2009 at 11:29pm by IOG
Fight it... but then you're helping the real guy with that name avoid paying what's due.
#29 - On 02/11/2009 at 11:44pm by oh em gizzle
i was a 20 year-old virgin. then my gf and i read ur post.
so we decided to have sex. thanks.
#30 - On 02/13/2009 at 2:01am by sup
You need to get this resolved as fast as possible; the window for filing a counter-claim is as little as one month, depending on the state. Pity is, many guys don't find out until their wages are garnished for child-support. Also, a simple paternity test will not absolve you once a source of dependable income is established as it can "negatively affect" the child, regardless of innocence.
This area of the law is not covered by the typical court system, and the standard of justice is not the same. Get a lawyer NOW. Don't get fucked without having sex; the family court system does not care about your innocence.

Wow man, that sucks.

Serious reply: Empty your savings and checking accounts NOW, anything that has liquid assets, and start cashing your paychecks at the bank on which they are drawn.
The idiot local DA's office did the same to me a few years ago (I have NO children BTW same as you), their paperwork was just all screwed up and so they sued the wrong guy -- and over a child-support account that in the end it turned out WASN'T EVEN DELINQUENT. But because they just ASSERTED that I was a "deadbeat dad," the local DA's office was able to drain my bank accounts for "unpaid back child support" completely without any form of due process. It took months to get that crap resolved and jeopardized my mortgage in the process. They even tried to garnish my wages and would have seized my income tax refunds. Once they DID finally head their heads straightened out they just returned what they took, and I was still on the hook for all the bounced check fees, late payment fees, and finance charges that resulted from my bank accounts suddenly an unexpectedly going from several grand to zero balance. I could have sued them, but it would have been another couple years in court and when all is done I probably would have spent more than I could recover -- IF I was successful at suing THE FLIPPIN' DA (yeah right...).
EMPTY YOUR BANK ACCOUNTS NOW. I'm not joking or being a smart-ass. If your post is serious, so is this reply.

#35 - On 02/15/2009 at 12:59am by tia
Dude, because of the circumstances in which I found this site and yours happened to be the first that I read that day I went to it, I'm pretty sure know you. So, I wanted to say I'm sorry, good luck, get a lawyer as soon as you possibly can, and also congratz on still being a virgin... completely surprising, but seriously that's pretty awesome.
#36 - On 02/15/2009 at 3:07pm by desaparecidos

More of a WTF than FML... o.0
two words (plus two more): Paternity test (demand one!!!)

SHE'S SCAMMING YOU

Do you know the girl named as the Plaintiff or w/e?
Ask her if she wants to be another Daniella Powell.
#41 - On 02/23/2009 at 7:18am by HeartlessBastard
I'd call bull on that one. Give the court a call, to my knowledge things like that are delivered in person.
Also there's no shame in being a virgin, it just means you were smart enough to actually wait for someone who loves you.
i think the fact that you are a 22 year old virgin is bad enough in itself

#48 - On 03/03/2009 at 8:56pm by LifeSUCKS143
damn chico/a? 22 and a virgin... FAIL
The real FML is that ur 22 and still a virgin lolz
If he's asexual it would be worse for him to be a 22 year old who isn't a virgin
To the people saying OP is fucked because they're a virgin at age 22 - Maybe OP has higher morals than you do? Ever think that not everyone wants to go out and get sexed up as soon as they can?
It's not bad to be a virgin at 22. He probably doesn't want to lose it to some whore in the back of a car drunk like all the rest. And how come none of the posts are about the original FML? Sigh.
Dude... I'm going to speak from experience... Think before you lose your virginity because that 1st person...... Will ALWAYS be #1..... Just keep that in mind bro
#54 - On 03/24/2009 at 12:45am by mylifenotyours
#s 52 & 53-
Yes, because we didn't have to wait until our twenties to get laid automatically means we fucked random sluts and have low morals. Not everyone fails to meet someone with whom they can have a long-term, loving relationship (in which they have sex they don't regret in the least) in their teens.
Get a lawyer. Move as much money as you can to Switzerland. And if all else fails, get CrEaTiVe...
May god or at least a good lawyer be with you.
22 and a virgin ahahahahahahahahaha thats a fml by itself
I agree with #52! I am 20 and still a virgin and I dont regret it!
I think the real fml is that your 22 and still a virgin. Oh and btw just cause you lose your virginity doesn't mean you fucked a random girl off the street. Are you gonna never have sex cause your morals are too high? Come on, you only live once.
A) Ouch, I feel bad for you. B) You'll win in court. C) #59, and like half of these people being a virgin @ 22 isn't an FML, it just means he hasn't found someone yet, not banging random whores isn't an FML
#60 did u even read #59's comment bc they clearly said that "just cause you lose your virginity doesn't mean you fucked a random girl off the street."
Why are a lot of you like "if you really still are a virgin"? If you're not going to beleive anything here why are you here???
Court papers, including notice of child support garnishment, and many others, are indeed sent through the mail. You don't need a proof of service for notices, only if you're being sued. I work at a Superior Court in the Family Law Division. I wish people would stop giving legal advise off of something they saw on TV.
