Today, I had a concert. At the end, my conductor was recognizing soloists. When he pointed at me, I was confused, but stood up anyway. It turns out he was pointing at the person behind me. I had to awkwardly sit back down in front of over 500 people. FML

Hey guys, OP here. Thank you so much for voting for this. So after my conductor pointed at me, I pointed to myself, and he nodded. Apparently the person behind me did the exact same thing. He was alright with it and looking back, it's actually pretty funny. Thanks

Don't worry too much about it. Although the thought of 500 people thinking about you at the same time seems unnerving, I suggest you to just shrug it off and move on.

At first I thought FML, but this is kind of a ydi too. If he was pointing to soloists and you didn't give a solo, why would you assume he was pointing to you and none of the students around, beside, & behind you. Either way it's a FML though because that's super embarrassing. Hope your conductor wasn't too upset.

Nervousness (from being on stage) and confusion (from being sure the conductor was, in fact, pointing at them) is a dangerous combination, and can make anyone do rather hasty things.
