Today, my grandma told me that I'm starting to look like my sister. I jokingly replied, "Uh-oh I'm in trouble then." She gave me a very disapproving look and said, "You should be happy. She's beautiful, unlike you." FML
Today, we had a group of friends over, as well as my grandma. She started talking about me when I was a kid, when I suddenly heard her saying, "Well, yeah, she wasn’t a beautiful child, not at all, she looked.… OK." FML
Today, my grandpa pointed me out to one of his friends, saying, "Yeah, she's the ugly one." FML
Today, my grandfather told me that I was ugly. When my mom found out, she said that, "Old people are allowed to tell the truth." FML
Today, feeling very self-conscious about my looks, I told my mom I felt ugly and wished I could be as beautiful as her. She only said, "Yeah, I'm pretty, I wonder what happened to you." FML

Today, I asked my mom if I was ugly. She said, "Ask your girlfriend." I said I didn't have one. She said "Exactly." FML
Today, I was helping my elderly neighbor carry her groceries into her kitchen. When I finished, she sighed and said, "You're such a sweet girl. It's just a shame about your face." FML

I mean that OP's grandmother may see a bit of herself in OP. she loves her. she cares about her. and being old she's a little more at peace with what she might call the truth and isn't afraid to say it haha. there's nothing wrong with any of that

I hate when people say things like "I'm sure you're beautiful", "I'm sure you're smart" etc. Well, you know what? Most people aren't beautiful or smart. Most people are ugly and not very bright. We need to embrace who we are. I am ugly,. Why should I lie to myself? This is the only way to live a truly happy life. Stop worrying about little things like that!
