I feel really bad for you, safe travels.
I know exactly how that goes. I guess you know who your real friends are. I empathize.
#5 - On 04/26/2009 at 3:16am by onigiriqueen
Yeah, um. Nobody. Heh. Better luck abroad.
Are you sure they got the right address?
From experience, never throw yourself a going away party and expect folks to come. Just tell folks you are leaving and if someone wants to organize something they will and invite people over and set it up. I have heard of several friends inviting over a hundred people to these things, just to see only about 0-15 show up to send their good byes.
Wow, jerks need to learn to keep their end of the RSVP.
Hopefully you find better friends in the new country.
That really sucks... At least you got to say goodbye to those 2? LOL
FYL. :(
Wouldn't those 2 feel bad about no one showing up and stay? Fucked up either way. Sucks bra.
#7: You agree with #7? Uh...
#13 - On 04/26/2009 at 3:31am by plethora
awww i'm sorry thats soo unfortunate. when you go to your new country, get better friends.
I guess that would explain why your leaving the country forever huh
well at least you're leaving those douchebag behind, things can only get better now! good luck in your new life
it's kinda bad to set up your own going away party anyway, but yeah FYL.
Maybe you're leaving forever for a good reason, eh? Next time.... better luck, better plans, and don't flatter yourself? Be safe in your traveling, and good luck.
....don't you have phone numbers?
#8: I think parties should be held anyway. You find out who your true friends are. Which, I guess, the OP did.
#20 - On 04/26/2009 at 3:47am by deplorableworld
I would be pissed if that many said they would show and then just ditched me.
why are you leaving the country..I WANT TO KNOW!!!!! well if indeed this pitiful country...I can see why...everybody hates us...and im embarrased...for being..an nacirema (get a mirror) it also shows how sad we are...well they are because they left you....for no reason..=[ idiots too bad I wasn't invited lol
you're probably really pretty, i'd like to meet you.
aw but i'm sure there was a misunderstanding or they didn't talk to you after their rsvp so they weren't sure if the party was still on?
Must be a good reason why no one likes you.
#27 - On 04/26/2009 at 4:25am by thelonelylurker
Man, that sucks. But next time don't throw yourself a going way party... People/Family should throw it for you. Well if they don't, just go somewhere with a few friends. When I was leaving to go to a new college I didn't get a going away party... I just hung out with some close friends... of course going out of town for college isn't that big a of deal, but whatever.
dude, maybe its cause you're a douchebag. i can tell from the way you said "yes! of course i will go!" LAME
Guess you're not very loved and your friends don't give a damn about you. Good thing you're leaving the country for good.
I was going to go, but I started having 'Cloverfield' flashbacks.
Wow that sucks but then agian moveing at all sucks sooooooooooooo much ass the party doesnt really matter
That sucks. I invited about 50 people to my I'm-leaving-the-country-forever part and all of them showed up, at least for a little while - I was actually kind of surprised, since we were all between 18-25 and there was no drinking allowed since my parents were afraid of upsetting the neighbours. We were rowdy and annoying anyway, so sucks to them
FYL :| tht sukz, atleast you wnt see them anymore!
sorry bra, hope you find some better friends within your travels tho
Wow that sucks, hopefully when you move you will get better friends than that
This is one of my biggest fears, though it's never actually happened to me. I have been the one of 2-3 people to show up to a party though, and once I was the only one.
Tough, man. Your "friends" are dicks and at least you know who's worth it now.

That sucks so much, I'm sorry.
I'm agreeing with the others that said there must've been a misunderstanding though, since it seems a bit unlikely that only 2 of 60 people would turn up.
wow that sucks. sorry man
and also, what does OP stand for?
#40 - On 04/26/2009 at 7:51am by skiz
did you invite them via facebook?
I agree with number 5!
This is so sad...
I feel sorry for you. But at least you will never have to see those jerks faces ever again (the ones that didn't show up when they said they would)
mate, you'd be cut! have a good flight!
from a random.
this really is very sad!!
#46 - On 04/26/2009 at 9:23am by sheepyblah
OMG! that is some harsh stuff. :(
I feel so sorry for you. TBH if i was you i would call each of them and be like...where were you? just to make them feel bad. Cause that is some really mean stuff.
Hope new country turns out well and you find new and better friends.
That sucks. But at least you're leaving the country and will never have to see those people again! Make better friends next time.
That really is horrible. Dust yourself off and look forward to your new adventures. Don't look back. There is no point wasting your efforts on people like that. Have a GREAT time in your new country!
that's terrible = ( your "friends" suck.... why are you leaving the country forever? You'll never go back? And where was your family?
I agree with #8. Your mistake was throwing YOURSELF a going-away party. Sounds egotistical. Probably turned off a lot of your "friends." Maybe now that you're leaving the country you have a chance to start over, beginning with that attitude of yours.
#23 he's not necessarily an American, and plenty of people still think America is awesome. You should really try taking a step back and seeing the good in this country.
#52 - On 04/26/2009 at 10:32am by FerreThoughts
thats just fucking sad...
hope you find some real friends where you're moving

Shit like this is why I never have parties for anything. People are such dicks.
They must be glad you're leaving the country. ;)
That makes me want to cry.
You just found out the easiest and least painful way who your true friends are... Consider yourself lucky!
Leaving the country forever? Are you on the run from the law?
Oh, wow... that's awful. I know (or can at least try to know) how you feel.
hard to believe, but if it's true then you probably put the wrong date on the invitations or something. but this can't be right, haha. something surely went wrong.
but sorry anyway!
hahahah 300 bucks for a party? tht must suck dick i wonder why ur leaving the country? maybe cuz u cant afford it
Same question as 41. Because when people say they will be attending on that it doesn't count. If you did, you totally deserve it, next time spend money on actual invitations. If not, your life is really fucked.
That's either fake, you're stupid and didn't send out real invitations, or you have no friends.
For any of those, yes, please leave the country.
#68 - On 04/26/2009 at 12:59pm by heathcoate
I don't see anything wrong with throwing yourself a party as long as it's a "I really want to have one last good time with all my friends" vibe and not a "sucks for all of you that you'll never get to see me again" vibe.
#69 - On 04/26/2009 at 1:00pm by wut
A least you're going to make new, better friends in a different country!
#70 - On 04/26/2009 at 1:26pm by pommeblossom
you sound egotistical and self-centred. maybe that's why you don't have any friends. get a reality check and stop looking for pity on the internet.
aww man and leaving forever!
It must be a misunderstanding. Or those friends of yours are just acquaintances in reality.
something is wrong, why didn't they call an cancel? If they are no call/no shows then maybe it's better you're leaving the country
sounds like you need to work on your people skills.
wow that was messed up. and why did 7 agree with him/herself?
That sucks. But just think...They showed you their true colors, and now you don't have to feel guilty or miss them. In a way they just made things more simple...I say fuck 'em, and find better friends in the new country you're moving to. It might not be a bad idea to keep in touch with the two that showed up; although they should've stuck around for a bit in a time like that.
Just as an example...I moved to a new state 1500 miles away at the end of '07, and in the course of a year (along with a couple visits back) I learned a LOT about who my true friends were and who weren't. If I were to vacation or move back to where I'm from, I'll know exactly who I should get in touch with and who I should not bother with, just like you will if you decide to visit your home country at some time.
FAKE!!
I can't pinpoint the source atm, but I know that someone wrote an article in a magazine about Facebook and social networking. They invited ALL their Facebook friends to a party at a bar, and only two ended up showing up.
So YDI for making this shit up.
You must be a terrible person
forever? are you being deported?
I hope you find better friends in your new country.
#81 - On 04/26/2009 at 3:54pm by Rain
a) what country are you from b) why are you leaving forever?
if its the US, good. i dont want your type here. We're the best country in the world any if you dont think so, STFU and GTFO.
uhhh, wasnt the fact that you were throwing your own going away party kind of a heads up that not that many people are going to show up at all? And yes, your life is f****d
all of them are dicks, even the two that came. i hope someone notices what i just said. that was actually really mean of them to leave. they should've stayed.
this seems a big unlikely. 58 people just decide to rsvp then not show up?
but if it's true, fyl.
that's jst sad
this is one true "fml"
YDI for leaving the country. Enjoy exploration of the 3rd world.
#87 - On 04/26/2009 at 7:34pm by QJD
Let's see.... $300 divided by 60 expected people....$5 a person. Wow! You were really going all out.
Why do so many people do that? Honestly so many people say they will show up to something but never do... When I say I will be there guess what... I'M THERE!
FUCK THEM THEY SUCK LIKE SHIT
TEXT THEM AND TELL THEM THEYRE ASSHOLES
THEN KILL THEM
haha jk but rlly yea
#91 - On 04/26/2009 at 9:03pm by scateice
Lemme guess... you invited them on facebook..
what do you care you're leaving them forever, so you don't have to deal with there bs anymore
#93 - On 04/26/2009 at 10:48pm by 91Caleb
Well, you'll never see these idiots again so it's no big loss. Hopefully you'll find better friends in your new country.
Put it this way, you won't need to pay to go back and visit them.
Maybe they got the date wrong? Haha if #91's right, you might've deserved that..
lol---> #14.....
yeah. this is a definitely fmylife worthy story.
aww :( sorry bout that...
probably wrong address? :/
well now you get to leave all those shitty people behind :D
sounds like you invited them by facebook right? in which case im not suprised seeing for msot people even though they have hundreds of 'friends' on facebook probably only ever talk to a few of them.
It's a relatively cheap way to discover you have absolutely no GOOD friends. Enjoy your trip, travels, and new life - you won't have to worry about anyone back home.........
US sucks after a while,I don't blame her for leaving lol.
That's so mean though,wow.
i got almost the same thing when i left the country
so just realize that those were absolutely not your friends and forget them
were are u going ?
aw yeah I had a similar experience with a party, i had 60 yes and 13 show up... and spent around $150... it sucked and i was really embarrassed at the time, but at least i learned a good lesson about how to tell who my real friends actually were. don't worry about it, it's behind you, and your life is moving forward anyway if you're leaving for good!! have a wonderful trip :)
Thats sucks really hard.
Good luck.
Thats so fake, Your not leaving FOREVER. and then why would no one come, and they wouldn't just leave.
Sounds like you used facebook, since that's one of the default responses. Chances are they do what I use to and my friends still do, just say "Yes" to every invitation and decide later which one you'll go to. Kinda fucked up they did it since it was a going away party, we only did for club and weekly house parties. Shouldn't use facebook for the important events though.
I've been in a similiar situation when I moved cross country. No party was thrown but I spent my remaining hours with my closest friends. I'm curious as to why you are leaving the country forever?
That sucks a lot man, I hope where you travel too people are nicer.
That sucks a lot man, I hope that wherever you travel too people are nicer
damn dude, bad friends and bad people.
My mom sent out the invites for my 8th birthday the day before the party was to happen, because my mom fails at everything she tries to do. Only one kid showed up. I sympathize with you.
I assume you did that event on Facebook? Because for Facebook events, Maybe = No, and Yes = No.
thats just plain depressing.
i would check the date you sent out for the party...there may have been a HUGE miscommunication
Yeesh, no wonder you left the country.
at least your leaving
#122 - On 05/31/2009 at 11:30am by kimisaparasite
That's not good at all!!!
Ouch, that must really hurt. :-(
Dude, that's bullshit, I felt the same way when I was leaving Central America to come here...
Sucks, huh?
the bright side is you knew 130 people to invite? Thats something
where the two people who came your parents?
Awww! That really sucks! i feel so bad for you. God Bless those 2 people. Have a safe trip!
#131 - On 07/22/2009 at 11:20pm by iloveblackshirt6
I bet you're one of those people that invites all their facebook friends and then acts surprised when they don't show up.
Most people outgrow the imaginary friend phase when very young. Some have to take a little more time to learn that fb friends aren't going to loan them money, help them move, or show up at their parties.
Ouch! That's harsh that only two people showed up after sixty said they would. Maybe there was bad weather or something that made it difficult for people to get there. Maybe the location was hard to find. I hope it goes better for you in the future!
wow that really sucks.... but think about it in this way: youll make muuuuuch better friends in the new country, especially if its brazil!!! (for comment #87: what is the problem with 3rd world countries? i live in one and i have the best time, i would never move...dont say what u dont know! prejudice is NOT nice-thats why the world is the way it is...)
enjoy your new life! and keep in touch with those 2 people for sure!
wow that sucks..but think about it in this way: in the new place youll make muuuch better friends thats for sure... and for comment #87 dont say what u dont know..i live in a 3rd world country and i love it, would never move...its because of people like you that the world is the way it is...
enjoy your new life! and keep in touch with those 2 people!!!
don't have a going away party if know 1 likes you.
