GO OP
(0)hahaha, this is great!
#3 - On 04/19/2009 at 8:44pm by skitz
(0)psh, take it for a spin anyway
(0)You're 21; buy one yourself; but, anyways, that would make me mad too just because I would be hyped up at first.
(0)That's rather histerical.
(0)Your dad's cool. I would have laughed so hard at that joke.
#7 - On 04/19/2009 at 8:47pm by Callyn
(0)ahahahha that suckss. sorry though "/
(0)What a dick.
(0)oh wow that really sucks!
(0)Why would they give you such an expensive car??? Buy your own car, you're an adult!
(0)have you ever seen those stupid sweet sixteen shows?
#178 - On 01/30/2010 at 1:24pm by Sabre300
(0)lmfao ur dad just pwn u
(0)your dad is the fucking coolest
This comment has been moderated.
(0)And?
(0)You're twenty-one years old, kid. You shouldn't be trusted with a Corvette anyways.
(0)That's a mean joke... he knew she would think it was a gift. Granted, a corvette for your 21st birthday would be excessive
(0)i wish your birthday was on april fools.
(0)hahahaha, amazing! That is what you get for being 21 and living with the 'rents. Your dad is a G!
(0)That's the same car my dad promised me for my Sweet 16. Hypothetically, of course. Sucks, though, that'd be a sweet gift.
#20 - On 04/19/2009 at 9:00pm by Ray_
(0)LOL
tht suxx...poor yu ! =(
(0)Thats actually kind of funny lol. I'm sure as long as you got something for your birthday that would be cool. And i understand there are many reasons you may still be living at home but maybe get your parents to pay the first few months rent for an apartment for your birthday.
(0)Take it out tell him you didnt see the note and hide it until he appologizes... I love paybacks
(0)lmao, nice, xP
(0)I like his sense of humor.
#25 - On 04/19/2009 at 9:08pm by dickinabox
(0)I would love to meet your dad. He has some good jokes. FYL... HILLGROVE!!!
(0)YDI for thinking you deserve A CORVETTE just because you turned 21. An age of drunken immaturity. Cars cost money and tons of maintenance (not to mention insurance). Wow. Spoiled much?
#27 - On 04/19/2009 at 9:12pm by autumnshivaree
(0)so your dad didnt get you a car for your birthday? your life is f***ed?
if youre 21, you should be getting your own car, not waiting for daddy to do it. sorry, this is not a FML at all.
(0)hahahaha at least he knows its your birthday! :)
(0)There's nothing wrong with living at home at 21. Not a lot of kids move out so quicky. 1. Going to college costs money. 2. The economy sucks. 3. Even so, people need to save up to afford an apartment/place.
#30 - On 04/19/2009 at 9:18pm by Ray_
(0)That sucks. Guys, the FML part is the part that the dad bought himself a car, even though it's his daughter's B-day. Selfish, much?
If that happened to me I'd dent the car, and then I'd give him the cold shoulder for a week. I like to play that way. :P
(0)why would you think you were getting a corvette for your birthday? That's a little much for just being a year older
#32 - On 04/19/2009 at 9:22pm by JKPPS
(0)lol I'd laugh it off and bring it up during family reunions. It's funny how he knew you were going to assume it was for you. Harhar.
(0)You're 21 years old. Why do you think you deserve a car for your birthday? Buy one yourself.
(0)xD.
#35 - On 04/19/2009 at 9:28pm by Frlf
(0)hahahahahahaha what a dbag!!! +its ur dad and ur 21 =P
(0)to all the people telling her to buy a car herself:
the op never said she deserved or expected a car. but honestly, if it was your birthday, at any age, and you all of a sudden saw a nice car at home that you wanted, what would you think?
that's a harsh note from your dad.
(0)I agree with #37 heaps, glad I wasn't the only one to think that x
(+1)Whatever, corvettes suck anyway. They are for old people trying to look young, or cool or rich.
They don't look that great, or have good back seats, or good performance and sound like something is dying.
Your dad should have got a BMW, Mercedes or Audi. Those would have gotten him much more attention and apreciation from people who really care about cars instead of 12 year old who think a Corvette is like a Ferrari.
(0)i completely agree with #37.
(0)its my bday too, dont worry i didnt get a present either
(0)I can't believe this is an FML. Your parents are rich enough to be able to buy a 2002 corvette. You can stfu and stop wasting everyone's time.
(0)isn't the better question: If it's your 21st birthday...how are you still able to read a note & why are you not passed out on your best friends floor and not able to recall the night? really now...I'm disappointed in how you party hahahahaha
(0)HAHAHAHAHA.
well i guess you just have to wait for your birthday present now.
(0)You're home this early on your night out?
(0)this made my life, and your dad is my hero, ROTFLMFAO, and to everyone bitching about her dad...grow up...the man has a wicked sense of humour...actually thats something my own dad would pull...i'd just take it out anyway
(0)Who said they thought they deserved it?
Who WOULDN'T think that they might have gotten the greatest gift ever if it was sitting in their driveway the day of their birthday?!
damn people, calm down.
(0)Your dad bought himself a red convertible? haha...
(0)actually 38 corvett beat ferrarie in a road test
(0)Heh, funny, but your dad is an ass. He could have just not bought it on your 21st birthday...
(0)HAHA , oh man that sucks :D
(0)That's mean. D:
(0)Dude, some of you guys are idiots. The FML isn't that she didn't get the car, the FML is that her father deliberately tricked her into thinking it was going to be for her by buying his new car on her birthday. Which, by the way, is pretty mean. Stop calling her spoiled or whatever, that's not what she was trying to say.
Funny, though.
(0)Agree with #52.
And "psh" to people who rag on you for living at home when you're 21. If you're in college, you're saving your parents upwards of $5000. If you just have some shitty job and can't move out right now, at least you're not making them pay for you to live in some fancy apartment. You're the fiscally responsible one.
(0)Ouch, daddy doesn't love you that much! xD
(0)How spoiled do you have to be to actually think your parents bought you a Corvette for your 21st birthday? Sorry, but if it was my birthday, and I saw a new car in the drvie-way, my first thought is NOT "that's mine!". Get a job yuppie.
(0)#38: Don't hate on the Vettes. Sure other cars have their advantages (I
(0)18 hahahaha. i feel bad, but that's hilarious.
(0)aww haha that was a funny joke :D
but sucks on your part.
(0)Awww sucks for you
but maybe ur dad will let u drive it sometime!
(0)hey hah its my bday today too
(0)u dont have a job? so u cant buy ur own car? u have 2 have ur DAD buy u ur car?? dammmmn
(0)I don't know a single 21 year old who can reasonably buy themselves any kind of car, let alone that kind of car. All of you saying that the OP deserves it for living at home at 21 and not buying themselves a car need to stop living off of mommy and daddy and figure out what the real world is like. You're probably 16 and think that your parents are going to pay for you until you have a career.
(0)YDI for thinking it was yours in the first place
kodus to your dad for not spoiling you like a bitch
(0)lmfao
(0)lol I can't believe that you would think that your parents would buy you an expensive car like that. Sure, it's your birthday, and it's special... but it's not THAT special. Unless you're some spoiled rich kid and get whatever you want...
But for serious, buy your own car or get them to buy you piece of shit that would get you from point A to point B. Think of it as transportation, and not a status symbol.
(0)ya, sure, your life is realllly f-ed, you are spoiled enough, and apparently so rich that u think ur family can afford to buy a corvette-poor you :(
(0)#38, exactly what road test was that?
#58, just stating my opinion and maybe even pointing out a brighter side for the OP, thier not missing out.
#42 I agree completely! Party it up! Go crazy man, go to Amsterdam for a weekend. Legal weed!
(0)haha no one likes a tease
#70 - On 04/19/2009 at 11:06pm by jcov2454
(0)hahahah your dad's an ass
(0)Your dad is awesome.
(0)Not an FML, and nobody should ever get a car for a birthday present anyways.
(0)The majority of you are children.
(0)This is Fuck My Life, not I'm A Spoiled Piece of Shit...
#75 - On 04/19/2009 at 11:28pm by Broc
(0)#31, if you were my kid, you'd be giving me the sore shoulder. You'd also find all of your shit thrown to the curb afterward. Come to think of it, I'd make you nurse your bruises somewhere else, also.
Buying oneself a car instead of for your child is not being selfish, you spoiled cunt.
(0)bahahaha i love your dad
#77 - On 04/19/2009 at 11:48pm by ellebell
(0)Buy your own car - if you can afford the bloody insurance.
(0)You don't deserve a nice car like that.
#79 - On 04/19/2009 at 11:54pm by Dusa
(0)Aw im sorry but your dad sounds really funny :) I asked my dad to get me a car for my 16th birthday and a few days later i found a toy sports car with a bow on it and a tag that said "Happy Birthday!"
(0)my parents bought me a car. i guess they don't love you.
(0)Man (or woman), please tell me you at least laughed a bit when you saw that note. It was perfect.
xD
(0)Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw, poooooor youuuuuu. I lol'd irl.
(0)yep, we need a "so, what?" comment. This is not an FML, so I can't agree your life is f**ked, or if you deserved it.
(0)The FML is that there was a shiny new car in the driveway on the person's birthday and that little pang of excitement got crushed...the FML was not "Today was my birthday and I did not get a corvette" so jeez cut the guy or girl some slack, being optimistic/hopeful doesn't make you spoiled. Also, as previously noted, living at home at 21 does not automatically mean you're a loser. Most college students, especially those who go away and live in dorms, still live at home during breaks. So, yes, maybe it is a little silly to assume that you would get a Corvette for your 21st birthday, but who wouldn't have that moment of excitement if they came home on their birthday and saw a new car in the driveway?
(0)Haha...that's pretty clever of your dad, but really mean at the same time! I mean come on people..what would you think if you walked into your garage on your BIRTHDAY and saw a new car...most normal people would assume it was a bday present! She's not saying she thought she deserved to get one. That's the whole point of the FML...her dad obviously deliberately did that just to get her hopes up and then prank her.
(0)Gah. comment deleted itself. freakin HTML tags.
Love your dad.
48 is not entitled to an opinion because he can't spell. Brand does not determine performance specs.
(0)@ #38, r u retarded? Corvettes will always be better than pos bmw's audi's and mercedez. You should stop talking if you dont know anything about cars.
#88 - On 04/20/2009 at 12:46am by mata
(0)My rents bought me a 2002 mustang for my 18. Haha that sucks for you though. Now your dad is going to be one of those creepy fat bald guys that buy a corvette during their midlife crisis. No offense to the OP her dad deserves it for playing a trick like that
(0)lol thats kinda funny
(0)so your angry that your parents who fed, and clothed you for 18 years didn't buy you a corvette for your birthday?
(0)I agree with #85. The OP is saying FML to thinking the new car was his, and then seeing mean the note from his dad that it wasn't his.
(0)I meant I agree with #86
(0)#14, I hate to break it to you but parents owe their kids at least one car in their life. The OP did not ask to be born, did not ask to be brought into this world. Therefore, his/her parents owe her a car.
If you cannot see that, then you are just freaking stupid.
(0)key it
(0)#94, you're either an amusing troll or bonafide fucktard. I'd like to think the former, since it's late and I don't feel like going in depth as to why your comment makes you a bonafide fucktard.
(0)i agree with #27
(0)not everyone can have a super sweet 16, princess!
(0)#94: Parents do NOT owe their children CARS. They are duty-bound to see to it that their basic needs are met until they are legal adults, which in your country is, I believe, eighteen. Three years prior to this. They owe their children food, clothing, adequate shelter, clean water, access to health care, education. They do not owe them cars!! Sure, most 21-year-olds can't afford cars! That's why you a) take the bus, b) get a job and save until you can c) buy your own damned car!
(0)aw cmon, doesnt everyone want a car?
(0)at least he remembered
(0)Jeez, y'all, ease up on the OP. They never said they DESERVED the car or any such thing, but it's a mean joke to put something new and shiny out on the day that happens to be someone's birthday just to say "nope, not for you".
(0)OMG you didn't get a free car? WTF. YDI.
(0)lol, maybe the note was a joke :P
(0)this reminds me of the porsche garage in transformers
#105 - On 04/20/2009 at 5:23am by ravinshrestha
(0)i hate it when people tell OPs off for sending FMLs of them "whinging". this isnt really whinging, she just wants to share her story which happens to be really funny. and im not sure that she once mentioned that she thought she "deserved" the car. she was just really surprised, thinking it was hers.
(0)Don't worry, he's just an indifferent prick with an ability for really bad timing ;)
(0)why were you sober enough to walk up to a car and read on your 21 birthday after you returned home?
(0)why are most of the posts here retarded. He/she isn't saying he/she is spoiled, just that the OP thought the car was a present, a reasonable conclusion. stfu and 21 is still living in college so its quite understandable that she lives at home
(0)hahahaha. that's awesome... at least you can ride shotgun!!!
Yr Dad is Legendary!!
(0)That is funny. But I think he's mean for bringing it home that day. That's not cool. Still, it's funny. No way would I ever get my kid a Corvette for their 21st.
(0)I can't imagine how horrible it would be to not get a corvette for your birthday.
(0)Trust me, you dont want a vette.......
No disrespect to your old man but every person I have ever met driving a corvette has been a complete tool.
P.S. what the hell are you doing living at home when you're 21? Get your ass out and buy your own car.
I knew the car wasn't for me to begin with but there is nothing wrong in wanting one...my dad had been looking at getting one for a while now. This is just suppose to be funny as are all the other ones out there!!! Get a grip people. I have been supporting myself for years! And I do live on my own. Thanks f-heads. And to everyone out there that can actually appreciate a good joke, thank you!
(0)Does anybody else smell a rat here?
How did she know right away, just from looking at it, that it was a 2002 Corvette?
(0)I'm tired of people thinking that on their birthday they can do anything they want, and everything and anything is a possible gift for them. Seriously, get over yourself. How is this a FML? Because your spoiled ass didn't get a brand new Corvette? Be lucky you get to drive it some time.
btw, your dad sounds hilarious. What's his FMYLife.com handle?
(0)Oh, one more thing... MOVE OUT OF YOUR PARENTS HOUSE! 21 and live at home? AND you think you deserve a Corvette on your birthday? FYL for sure, but not for the reason you expressed in your description. Loser.
(0)#117 - well, the OP might be going to a college that's close to home and trying to save out on housing... in that case she'd actually be saving her parents money by just living at home.
(0)HAHAH....I would have laughed at my dad.
(0)Greedy much? Some kids dont even have food or shelter.
(0)LMFAO! thats great!
(0)your dad rules.
Maybe you should try to be more like him and less like a cry baby
(0)you deserved that for sure... move out of your parents house!!
(0)You are all idiots! Read the post the OP made #114...it actually explains the situation better. Why are you sitting here judging this person? I could sit here and judge every single one you, but I wont because I don't know a single thing about you. Except for the fact that you're all morons for judging someone before you know the whole story. It's funny...end of it.
(0)@ 124
Actually, the whole point of this website is to JUDGE whether someone's life is fucked or not from 300 characters or less. If you're coming on here, you are judging people.
I do agree that the people who posted after 114 are annoying for not reading it, though.
P.S. OP's dad is awesome.
(0)because # 115, its not only guys who get that into cars......
(0)Ahaha this is my IRL friend. And believe me she was floored for her 21st. we had gone barhopping the entire night before. As for the spoiled...she has tons of nice show horses =). I think her dad is hilarious for doing this though. It's classic.
(0)Not getting a 2002 Corvette is NOT an FML.
And I do think it is hilarious that your dad did that.
(0)I agree with #128. This isn't a FML. When you're middle aged, you can buy one too.
You are all STILL IDIOTS!! Go read my post at 114!! I didn't think i deserved the car...and its not a FML b/c I didnt get the car...its just suppose by be funny. And you guys are the ones the decided it should be on FML i just posted it...you voted. And as for you my Saddlebred friend...you're suppose to be helping.
I thought it was hysterical that my dad did that. I wasn't even the least bit mad. Oh and it says "fmylife your EVERYDAY life stories" Sorry that I thought it was funny and posted it. Next time I'll make sure i have a near death experience and then post it. Dicks.
(0)just cause it aint yours dont mean u cant drive it. i would've ignored the note and say i couldnt find it.
(0)Bummer.
I lived the other side of the coin. When I turned 21, I got a new 2000 black/black C5 with 6spd, Z51, HUD, polished rims, both tops and sport seats. Loved it, and it was "paid" to me in lieu of my working for two years for my dad without pay while making him able to retire.
Joke's on me. I had it three years and it spent 9 out of the final 18 months parked or at the shop waiting for warranty problems to be repaired. In the end, the right rear rotor cracked and seized the wheel, spinning me into a telephone pole at 40mph wrecking the car and putting me into 9 months of rehab. FML LOL
(0)I would take it. He said quit drooling on it. Doesn't mean you can't take it for a spin. Who knows? Maybe it will explode in some bizarre "accident".
(0)... Why would you get a car for your birthday? Cars are big and expensive.
(0)Hahahaha #108.
Why can't a person want a car? Everyone WANTS stuff.
Anyway, I think your dad is hilarious for doing that. :P
(0)you went on a night out, you're 21, and you're expecting good presents?
Welcome to reality dude, I'm only 18 and I know that...
(0)lol yea what #4 said jus take it
damn somthing like thats just to good to be true
(0)#88 is that a joke? Corvettes can't touch a BMW 7 series. They are so much more practical, sound so amazing, you hear the power, but without the whine of a dying animal. You can actualy use the back seats, and no car enthusiast see's a corvette and says "Yeah, this person has my respect" Thier handling is considered the best in the world, they are leading the technological curve and have that understated, sleek look. Don't ever tell me Corvette is better than a BMW.
Agree with #89, like I said in my first post, Corvettes are for middle aged men trying to look young or 'hip'.
OP don't let theese idiots worry you. They can't see the real FML and are just angry becasue thier parents sent them to boarding school so they can be free of them.
To clarify for everyone who doesn't understand. The FML, as has been stated 5 times already, is that it was the OP's birthday and they found a (nice?) car in the garage. Nowhere does the OP say they deserved that car, but would you not be excited to find a sports car in your garage on your birthday? Is it not a crushing moment when you find the note which destroys your spirits?
Take some time to think before you comment.

(0)your dad rules.... ahhahhahahahahahahaaaaahahahahahahhhahhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Thank you 139! I laughed so hard when I saw the note...I walked inside and found my dad just rolling with laughter.
(0)Anytime scarletduderose88
GODDDDD, I don't think I can even put into words how much the commenters on this site suck. And I just joined a couple minutes ago. It's a lighthearted FML, chill out people.
Y'all act just like the Xanga community. Maybe you should all go post your argumentative comments over there and leave SOMEWHERE in the world just ONE ... just ONE.. site without your deliberate arguments and liberal bullshit.
#143 - On 04/21/2009 at 12:22am by shannonleigh332
(0)tough luck kid i got a mercedes benz sl500 for my 16th!
(0)You know, to all those people who say that you should buy one yourself, its more of the emotional roller coaster rather than the car itself, if he bought it a week before or ahead, fine, but like, why buy it on your child's birthday and just put them through that? I mean, I think most of you'd be typing an FML like that up if it happened to you
(0)wow.. that was sure some long night out that you had.. since you posted at like 5 pm haha..
(0)#145: No, I wouldn't, I'm not a presumptuous ass that thinks I deserve a $30k car handed to me because I screamed out of my mother's womb 21 years ago.
Also, buying a car generally doesn't happen in one day, especially with a used car. He couldn't necessarily control when the car was ready for him. At least he left a note so she wouldn't think it was hers until he was around to tell her himself.
Finally, OP sounds... choice word here... finishing the FML with "Thanks Dad" like her dad never did anything for her because he didn't buy her a Corvette. 21 and that immature and unappreciative of your parents? Really?
#139: Yeah I'd be excited to get to borrow it for a drive from my parents. Because it wouldn't be my car. Birthday or not. I guess my parents are those rare types that teach personal fiscal responsibility. They paid $40k to send me to school. I used that education to get a job to fund my wants (such as a nice car).
#144: Have fun wrapping it around a telephone pole.
p.s. To kill ideas that I'm jealous before they start, I drive an Acura TSX. A rather enjoyable car, and one that I paid for myself.

(0)Cars in general tend to spike all the young tender egos when comparisons come up. It's kinda funny listening to all the immature people (of any age, apparently) dishing over nonsense.
There will always be someone faster, richer, stronger, more attractive. That doesn't mean any one of us is better, or better off, than any of the others. People need to relax.
In the meantime... I'm in de boss office... signing your pink slipz.
On the weekend, I'm in my GTS, laying strips of 335 in front of the road rage driverz.
(0)#1 Your dad is awesome
#2 YDI for thinking that your parents would buy you a 2002 Corvette for your birthday
spoiled punk
(0)Awe that sucks, people are being ass holes
They all would think the same thing, esp. seeing a note on it at first
(0)owned!
(0)Your dads a genius. :D
#152 - On 04/21/2009 at 6:53pm by fuckass
(0)aw! thats funny! im sorry though... that really sucks i would be pissed at my dad but i wouldnt expect a car for my 21st birthday
(0)I would have thought it was funny, but in the first place, my dad would never ever ever buy me a car.
It is funny...I wasn't mad at all. I knew he was looking at getting a new toy, but my drunk mind decided against all logic at the time. It was just bad timing lol
I did think it was funny...wasn't mad at all and I think that's what people are assuming, that I was actually mad at my dad b/c it wasn't mine. Oh well if people can't think that its funny, then they have no sense of humor.
(0)Assumption is the mother of all fuck-ups.
And birthday disappointments, apparently.
Your dad's a gun! Baha!
#157 - On 04/22/2009 at 6:22am by plethora
(0)Your dad's MEAN could he not have waited until after your 21st to buy the car???
Thats totally misleading.
(0)MukyDaCookie you're an idiot. I own an Audi S4 and I know for a fact a Corvette is a better car. The new ZR-1 has a faster Nurburgring time than the Ferrari Enzo, so don't say it's "like" a Ferrari. It's better than one. Well, not the base model and probably not the 2002 base model, but at least the ZR-1. The Z06 is probably on-par with an F430 but don't hold me to it. Don't make unsubstantiated claims.
(0)um4m3d when did I ever say anything about it being "like" a Ferrari? I said it doesn't compare to one.
The F430 is how old? And the Z06 is the most recent modle im guessing? The Ferrari was just an example, maybe ONE part of the car is better but the overall performance and specs are much higher. Audi S4 is a street car. Corvette is a sports car, why don't you compare a tricyle to a racing bike next time?
Try next time, not to start with your arguement with an insult it makes you look bad. You idiot
(0)Hahaha your dad is so cool
(0)The F430 has been out for about 5 years now, maybe less. It's still a produced model. The first ZR-1 came out in 1978, and the Z06 is the model down from the ZR-1. The Audi S4 is a very competent car in motorsport, but I know it couldn't hold up to a ZR-1, I'm not that cocky. The Corvette ZR-1 has THE fastest production car time around the ring, behind the Dodge Viper. The ZR-1 is also 11x cheaper than the Ferrari. There is a lot to compare since they all have 4 wheels =). The Enzo is supposedly the "best" production car Ferrari can come out with at 1.2M dollars. I'm not particularly fond of American Cars either, but you can't deny the facts. And I was only mentioning my Audi because you said that "Audi, BMW and Mercedes are better." The ZR-1 is also faster than the BMW M3, Mercedes SLR McLaren, and Audi R8, all of the brand's respective top-end sports cars. Sorry to start it with an insult, but again, only the facts. Btw, the joke was really funny, I'd be mad at a parent that pulled something as sly as this, too.

(0)that's a bit much. buy it yourself like me. i'm saving up for my own car and i'm turning 18 this year. have sook.
(0)how spoiled do you have to be to see a corvette and assume its a present for you?
(0)AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA. This would be something my dad would do.
And 163/live2ride, it's YOUR BIRTHDAY and you see a shiny, new car. Logic states that it is for you, even if it's just illogical hope. When you grow up with gifts on your birthday every year, even if they're little ones, you see something new and it's like "Oh, really? Cool!" ... so yeah.
...but honestly, if it were my rents, they'd get me something like a rusty jeep with a top that occasionally doesn't close all the way. I'd like that better than something I was afraid to harm anyways. And I'm digressing, so, back to the point.
AHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA.
Yup. Good ol' humor.
(0)dude.
