Today, for the first time in over a year, my mother actually called me. I excitedly picked up the phone. All I heard was rustling; her purse dialed me. FML

#2, I don't know what kind of relationship you have with your mother, but most people don't want to go a year without hearing from them! OP -- very sad. But you should call her. Whatever happened between you can't be that important -- it's your mom!
