Today, I was let down for a movie date. As I'd already paid for the tickets, I got my narcoleptic sister to come and sit next to me while she slept, so it didn't look like I came on my own. FML

Today, I went to the cinema with a girl I like. Knowing she has a bit of a soft spot for me, I was keen to sit in the back row. Too bad her sister tagged along, insisted that we sit somewhere else, and scolded me every time I so much looked at her. I ended up paying for the unwanted guest as well. FML
Today, my boyfriend was complaining about how we never see the movies he wants to see. So I took him to the movies, and he picked which one. Then he fell asleep. FML
Today, I went to the movies on a date. I went to pay for the tickets when I realized that I didn't have my wallet. Instead of my boyfriend paying, he laughed and paid for his own ticket. Then he went ahead and saw the movie without me. FML
Today, I went to see a movie with 4 friends. I didn't realize that I was the only one who didn't have a date. The theater row had just enough room for everyone but me, I got to sit in back of everyone else while they were making out in front of me for 2 hours. FML
Today, I was late to a sold out movie in the theater, so I had to shuffle in during the previews in the dark. I sat down in what I thought was the last vacant seat, but I'd really just sat in a small woman's lap. She was not happy. FML
Today, I went to the movies with my crush, who had asked me out on a date. Assuming he'd pay, I left my money at home. When the time came to buy the tickets, he only bought one for himself. FML
Today, I went on a first date with a guy who insisted we watch a film at his place. I agreed, despite feeling wary of a potential trap. Halfway through the film, he fell asleep and started snoring. When he woke up, he blamed me for “keeping him up all night.” I was there for less than an hour. FML
Today, my friend had invited me to his home for a movie night with another friend. I had to decline because I have prior plans. He then revealed that they only wanted me there so I could bring DVDs, but "don't worry, we'll find something on Netflix to watch instead." FML
Today, I wanted to be alone for once, so I went out for dinner, planning to go to the cinema afterwards. My sister ambushed me at the restaurant because she’d heard I was stressed out and wanted to be alone, so she thought she should keep me company while I was alone to make me feel better. FML
Today, an old friend of mine refused to go to a movie with me. Turns out he was sitting in front of me with my girlfriend. FML

But still, a movie is a terrible first date idea. It sounds classic, but what's the point of a date if you don't talk to the person and just sit together in a dark room?

I go to the movies by myself all the time. It's much more peaceful than going with family or friends who talk throughout the movie (Nothing pisses me off more). There's no company like your own! Besides, there are bigger problems in the world than caring what strangers think of you.

Thank you 26. I completely agree. People dont think of things like that anymore. All they think about is social acceptance, and what other people think. Screw that, I'm enjoying myself and not letting anyone bring me down.

I used to go to the movies by myself every Wednesday. There was a movie theatre across from my college, with student pricing, and I had a huge break from 11:30 until 4:30, which I'd otherwise spend wandering the mall and spending money I didn't really have. Couldn't go home, I lived an hour and a half's commute away. Some movies aren't meant for solo experience, but it's not a bad thing to go alone. No one ever bothered me about it.

I go to movies by myself all the time. On Tuesdays when the price is significantly cheaper than usual. Movie, popcorn and a couple tallboys of beer in my pockets, a great way to kill a couple hours and enjoy some alone time. It's pretty much the only time no one can get hold of me and I like it that way.

I used to go to the movies alone all the time. *shrug* I worked hours that meant I could catch a bargain matinee, in an empty theater. And I didn't have all that many local friends with whom I could share my taste in movies.

Well, they say silence is golden in movie theaters, at least you didn't have someone beside you that would talk incessantly. Yes, I'm speaking from experience. Lots of it.
