Sounds like it's time to have a serious talk with this person,OP.
While the saying goes: Never dip your pen in company ink... I know of several successful relationships that started at the work place.
Communication IS the key!
Sit this person down and ask why they chose to act this way. Maybe, just maybe, they're one of those people that can separate feeling from work; such as you have described.
