Today, my car window got smashed, because someone somehow confused the doll my daughter always leaves strapped into a carseat for an actual kid. It's a cabbage patch kid. FML

Today, I passed a car, and heard a baby crying in the back seat. It was hot and no one was around. All the doors were locked so I broke it with a rock, cutting my arm and setting the alarm off. Only to find out that it was a realistic baby doll. I have to get 7 stitches and pay for the window. FML
Today, the driver's side window of my car was busted, and inside was a note that said, "Sorry, thought this was my car." FML
Today, I was mowing my yard when I hit a small rock, which hit my shed. I got done mowing and realized that it wasn't a small rock, it was my son's toy plyers and it wasn't my shed, it was my car window, which had shattered on impact. FML
Today, while driving home, I looked in the rear-view mirror and saw that my three-year-old daughter had managed to get out of her seat and had crawled to the back window. I pulled over and strapped her in again. Five minutes later she was back at the window. FML
Today, a woman pushed a stroller in front of my car. Thinking I'd hit someone, I jumped out. Turns out it was a doll. The "woman" was a 14-year-old girl, claiming, "I did it for the Vine!" FML
Today, when I was finished eating at McDonald's, I went to Shoppers to pick up a new toothbrush. I got back to my car only to find the windows smashed in. The only thing that was missing from my car was the Hello Kitty toy I got from McDonald's. Someone broke into my car for a 10 cent toy. FML
Today, I wanted to go shopping in my new car that I bought just a month ago. When I stepped outside, I saw someone had smashed the driver side's window. They didn't even steal anything. FML
Today, I walked outside to find someone had egged my house and smashed a pumpkin onto my car. I later discovered that the perpetrator was my own 8 year old son. FML
Today, I woke up and saw my new car was gone and my son seemed very shifty. When I questioned him with the cops, he admitted to taking it for a joyride and "leaving it" behind a derelict mall. We drove over. It was wrapped around a light post, completely destroyed. FML
Today, I couldn't get into my car. In an attempt to get in, I broke a window. As I climbed in, the actual owner of the car walked up. Mine was across the street. FML

From a distance it might be easy to confuse a doll for a child. But once they got up close I'd think they could distinguish.

Before going all Hulk and smashing other people's windows, one should think to further investigate. Such as peering into the window and/ or tapping on it to see if it's an actual human being. Common sense should eventually kick in and you would realize it's just a doll.

I believe that the person, who called the cops, thought they were doing the right thing. However, that person jumped the gun instead of investigating 5 more seconds. The right thing to do was have the same person, who called the cops, call the cops back immediately (or admit to mistaking the doll for a baby while still on the phone); therefore, OP wouldn't have her car window broken. Also, why didn't the cops (on scene) take a good look before just smashing OP's window? Some people get overwhelmed and all common sense goes out the window. OP, I say sue the cops and/or the person who called the cops for negligence.

A "Real Doll" is a custom made doll that is created to look exactly like an infant, rather than kids dolls that have more cartoon-ish features. Look them up, they're actually very realistic looking. They're more for adults than children, by my understanding, so I couldn't see why a child would have one.

Well that sucks OP. If they saw the doll sitting in the seat, I'm pretty sure the doll would not move. Do you know the person who did it? If you do you should ask for an apologey but everyone does make mistakes.

I would assume she knows who did it, otherwise she wouldn't have known if they did it to save the "baby", or if they were a possible thief breaking into her car.
