Why the secrecy?

Today, my wife kicked me out because I had a vasectomy behind her back. I'm 45 and we have five kids, three of whom have already left the nest. FML

yeah so having a vasectomy - totally reasonable, the fact that you didn't tell her - totally unreasonable and I'd be hurt as well, not because she's entitled to force you to have another child, but why on earth would you hide something like that?

That is something huge you need to discuss with your SO before doing it. Was she trying for one last one only to find out you had a vasectomy behind her back? That feels very deceitful and untrustworthy.

... You might want to talk to her, she may be suspecting that you got a vasectomy because you're cheating on her. If that isn't why, she's being ridiculous. Sorry man.

Your body, your choice. As she is your wife, you should have mentioned it to her first. Is she very religious or something?

Many people believe that they have the right to monitor their SO's reproductive system, and have an exclusive on their semen. I'm not really sure why, but I've heard, "you're taking the choice away from me," and "now you can have sex without consequences, and that makes me feel insecure." It reminds me of an adult woman's parents or husband finding out she is on birth control pills without their knowledge.
