Today, my flatmate took his hour plus long shower while we both tried to get ready for work. I had a choice to wet myself or pee in a cooking pot. I chose the pot. FML

Sounds like it's time to talk about shower time and what's an appropriate length when you only have one toilet in the house. At the very least, he should ask if you have to use the toilet before he takes the place over.

um surely there was a way around this? a neighbour? nearby toilets? forgive my ignorance I don't live in flat.. but convinced there was another way

It looks like OP may be female, and her flatmate is clearly male, so she's probably not comfortable with doing her business while he's in there.

I'd pee right next to him, I don't care. In fact, after an hour I'd get in the shower with him and pee in there

been there, chick here takes 2.5 hours to "get ready" then another 40 minutes before she actually leaves for work, then another 1.5 hours when she gets home. I either just go in or cop knock on the bathroom door.

Hour plus long shower? Sounds like you need to get a new flat mate. I thought my 25min showers were long.

Just walk in and use the toilet

That's quite an excessive length for a shower when getting ready for work. I understand some people like to occasionally relax with a hot bath, but that's generally after work, or on a day off.

Why not a bowl that could've been a little more disposable cost wise?
