Today, I worked up the courage to tell my girlfriend that I love her. She made a face like she'd just sucked on a lemon and said, "Um... yay, I guess...?" and awkwardly left the room. FML

Wow. She could have been definitely more polite about the situation, it took a lot for you to say that to her and to react like that is uncalled for. Even if she doesn't feel the same way, it could've been handled way better.

Don't make a big deal about it. You're putting so much weight on it. Just communicate regularly instead of dropping the L-bomb like you're expecting the same response from her. Maybe you'll laugh about it later (together)!
