Today, I tried to open the research paper I've been working on for the past month, only to discover that the entire file is permanently lost and can't be recovered. This is not the first time this has happened to this paper. FML

Google docs is good. Immediately saves your paper when you stop typing.

Why didn't you back it up the first time?

Google docs automatically saves your work when you stop typing.

you'd think you'd make multiple copies if the file

Always save versions of important work and keep them all in a folder together. If possible keep a backup on an external hard drive.

Was your file corrupted? Was the program manager corrupted? Did you have bootleg copy? Does your computer have a virus? So many questions. Keep multiple copies across multiple computers and/or USB's. Or use cloud storage like Dropbox and Google Drive amongst others.

You'd think you'd back it up genius! YDI

maybe you need to learn how to use a computer

if its not the first time then maybe you should learn to back up your work. ydi
