Today I thought I couldn't afford to go to my favorite barbershop, so I went to a cheaper one. Without realizing that the hair washing cost extra, it ended up being more expensive than at my favorite barber, and it looked worse. FML

I'm sure they can but my favorite part of getting a haircut is the wash. just something about someone else doing it for you is amazing (if they do it right) maybe try it sometime.

At most hair salons, the hair wash process is complimentary since most barbers want to work on clean hair - to understand what works for your hair texture and to avoiding cutting on hair that has been texturized by products.
