Today, I picked up my passport, as my previous one was damaged in a car crash. As the teller warns me that a pattern of damaged passports will result in longer processing periods, she spills her coffee - all over my new passport. I'm supposed to go overseas in a month. FML

Today, after cancelling work, arguing with my family, scrambling to pack my bags, speeding to the airport and filling in immigration forms to fly out to have a much needed holiday, I wasn't allowed to check in. My passport has less than 6 months away from expiration on it. Yes, that's a thing, apparently. FML

Today, the passport office informed me I won't get my passport in time to go on holidays. However, they took the money for the passport out of my account 2 months ago, causing me to go overdrawn, and not pay my travel insurance. The same insurance I needed to get the cost of the holiday back. FML

Today, I finished filling the pages in my passport. Also today, my mom's cat urinated on my backpack, soaking my passport with rancid pee. I have visas that last 10 years and can't be moved to a new passport, so I have to keep this nostril-burning booklet. FML

Today, I went to the airport to start the amazing 3 week vacation in Costa Rica that I've been saving for and planning for more than a year. They wouldn't let me on the plane because my passport expires in less than 6 months. FML

Today, after spending 2 years saving for my flights, I was denied boarding due to issues with my passport. I heading straight to the embassy only to be told a replacement will take 8 days. The airline will only hold my place for 7. FML

Today, I had to call the Australian Passport office to track my passport. Turns out they lost it in the mail. A week ago, I got my dream job as a flight attendant. Without a passport they won't accept me. I lost my dream job before I even started it. FML

Today, after months of planning and saving for our honeymoon in Italy, my wife and I were turned away at the airport because my passport only has a month until it expires, even though it's only a five-day trip. FML

Today, my purse was stolen. Too bad it had all of my money and my passport. My flight is tomorrow, and the embassy is closed until Monday. Guess who gets to stay in a foreign country with no money and no identification for the next 3 days. FML

Today, my family and I were coming back from a trip to the US. As we reached the border patrol we realized that we were one passport short. The border patrol lectured us for 30 minutes about how irresponsible we were for not realizing that they had forgotten to give us one of our passports back. FML

this just reminded me. a friend put his passport in the wash. it was still fine afterwards ;s well, for ID purposes anyways. not sure if it would be fine to go abroad, etc, but it looked fine just a bit tatty. and don't ask me, i don't know HOW it survived the washing machine...

get it expidited. it'll cost a little extra, but you'll get it in time my mom once got her passport in 4 days, she didnt realize her old one expired until 4 days before a trip out of country

you're going to have your passport if you were smart enough to stay to ask to a higher authority to show that the teller split her coffee on your new passport! So not really FML worthy... they have rush service which can be done in an hour.... it wasn't your fault so they have to rush the service for you so that you can go away in a month

if you can prove when your going away they can do it for on the same day. i lost mine the day before i was spoused to leave for siwzterland and got mine. had to pay a little bit more but they can do it so dont worrie!

i dont get it my passport wouldnt be ruined by coffee and i dont see how one would get 'damaged' in a 'car accident' its a hard little booklet thats laminated inside pretty much. FAKE
