First, I don't really understand why it's up to you to explain. That's really for your brother or cousin to do. But, even so, it's better to be the bearer of bad news than the source of said bad news. Asses are gonna be whupped and I doubt that one of them will be yours.

I understand feeling like you have to help your brother, but he’s got to man up on this one. You can sit with him for support, but make him do the hard part. He’s the one that made use of the hard part after all.
