Today, I am moving 2300 miles across the country for work, and after trying for 3 weeks (and sending countless emails) to find some roommates where I am moving to, I have exactly zero meet and greets for roommates. I don't know where I'll live when I get there in 3 days. FML.

Are you that weird on your roommates.com profile that no one wants to meet? Jk op! I'm not even sure that site allows a profile lol! In all seriousness though, depending on the area, it's easier to make connections and find available places in person and by word of mouth. I'd call ahead and find a motel or something similar that rents by the week just for starters, and hit the bricks once you get to your destination to find a more permanent solution. Good luck!

Pretty sure you find a roommate BEFORE actually moving. Like weeks in advance. But hey. Either way, good luck!

Try an extended stay hotel. The longer you stay, the less expensive your nightly rate will be. I stayed in a TownePlace Suites for almost 3 months while I was buying a home. It wasn't too bad - free breakfast every day :) full kitchen in the room, maid service twice a week.
