Spill the T

Today, seasonal allergies are whooping my ass again. The last time this happened was… only two weeks ago. Even more unfortunately, today also marks the day I discovered that while hot tea does help soothe my poor, inflamed throat, if I drink too much of it without a break, I throw up. FML

Try green tea with honey. Green tea naturally has less caffeine than other kinds of tea. Personally when I have a cold my go-to remedy is green tea with honey and Rose’s lime juice (1-2 teaspoons each). Rose’s is sweetened and it’s in the mixers for booze in the grocery store. The tea is warm but low in caffeine, the honey soothes a sore throat, and the lime juice both balances the sweetness from the honey and gives you vitamin C. By the way Rose’s doesn’t require refrigeration so I kept it at my desk… Or you could could go to the drugstore and get some generic Zyrtec and take one a day - It’s for allergies.

If your allergies are that bad you should 1. Try over the counter medications (the pharmacist can help you to choose one that is most appropriate for you), and if that doesn’t work then 2. Talk to your doctor as there are once a month shots and stronger prescriptions that can make all the difference. You don’t need to just sit and suffer!

Hot lemonade is a thing. Lemon juice, hot water, honey, and any other flavorings you'd like if you get bored--chucking some blueberries or cucumber in there zests it up great.
