Today, my psycho girlfriend tried to blackmail me into giving her money, threatening to show everyone the nude pictures I'd recently sent her. Except the pictures on her phone that she threatened me with weren't even of me. Nice to know I'm also being cheated on. FML

Guys, I am pretty sure that OP dumped his girlfriend, but this FML happened when they were still together. If he said "ex-girlfriend", or even "now ex-girlfriend", it would cause confusion.

Plenty of FMLs use the wording "now ex-girlfriend/boyfriend" and I don't think very many people get confused.

I've seen people misunderstand even if "now ex" was used. A lot of people do understand, but I'm simply speaking from personal experience.
