Today, my boyfriend lamented that I do not profess my love for him as often and poetically as he does his for me. I try my best, but he's Italian and I am German, and this is not a level playing field. FML

Today, I showed up at my boyfriend's work to surprise him by speaking in Spanish, his first language. I've been taking classes secretly. He smiled, kissed me, and then finished telling his friend, in Spanish, that I'm boring and ugly but he's got nothing better going on. FML

Have him study up on "The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate" Book by Gary Chapman. People express their love in different ways. learning about those can help you each both give and recieve each other love with more understanding.

Oooo the historical tension...ya know? Germans were the one's who caused Rome to fall. Hitler also made a fool out of Mussolini by making him his puppet. Germans and Italians historically conflict with each other so maybe your relationship will won't be much different.
