Today, I went into work with the mentality that all of my ass-busting work was going to result in me finally being promoted to manager. We had a site meeting. The entire building is being laid off because Apple cut our contract. Yay, I'm out of a job. I hate Apple. FML

I’m sorry to hear this. Unfortunately, Apple isn’t the only business that is laying off. There are many jobs being lost in the US right now but no worries, according to Trump... jobs are at the greatest great that great can be great!!Did I mention he said, “great?!” Ugh. I hope that you can get a well paying job that fits your hard work ethic ASAP. Shalom.

I love Apple, but that’s not the point. I’m not sure where Apple uses busted asses in their supply chain. If it’s used in iPods, you should have seen your demise coming. Maybe Samsung could put your busted asses together with their fold-and-break screens and flaming batteries to make their next killer product.

I hate apple too! But for different reasons. But yeah, that’s job churning and vibrant economies have it. There are a lot of unfilled jobs in US (definitely partly because of Trump) to include where I work. Know how to use a manual lathe? Start at $25/hr with all the overtime you want (prob be at $35/hr with a couple years exp). It’s impossible to find people who do this anymore though. They are too busy “going back to college” and complaining about student debt and not having a job.

Why did they cut the contract is the question before you automatically go to hating Apple. Not that I like them anyway, just pointing out they might not be at fault.

I'm really sorry, OP. this was not at all your fault. look for a company that will value you and your hard work, and good luck. I know you'll do well

That’s the problem with jobs that depends on contracts. Contracts go away. Sorry you got laid off. Been there. Hopefully your company is helping with job placement like mine did.
