Today, a customer at work pronounced the word "Asian" as "Ah-See-Awn" when ordering a salad. I wasn't allowed to say anything. FML

Better to leave it rather than to start crap and lose your job. Someone else will eventually deal with him

You know that's what I hate; people who can't pronounce words right !!!

What is an Asian salad anyway? Something like basmati rice with hummus, beef teriyaki, kimchi, bok choy and Thai chilli sauce? And do restaurants in Asia have a European salad?

Everything you said just reeks of stupidity.

That took some serious self control, OP! Hopefully that person was just a prankster and not a moron.

I hate when people mispronounce words, but I do not understand how this is an FML or even hat if of a deal...

Should've just repeated his order as if to check and said it correctly.

Haha OP my boss is Scottish and pronounces it "Ay-zee-un", and he's well read, fairly intelligent and can spell & read just fine. Maybe the customer is just around people a lot who pronounce it 'funny' to us, who knows. Anyway, best just to smile & nod and not offend anyone. :D

I don't see how this is an FML, maybe he/she was just Spanis or Italian, here in Italy some people mispronunce Asia and Asian like that, when speaking English. Anyway I feel your pain, mispronunciation is quite harmful for your hearing.

let me reword... why is this a big deal?

Maybe that way is correct for him. You can't always tell someone's nationality just by looking at them. Also he could have spent time in other country and picked it up there. Sometimes being curious is better than being judgmental.
