Today, my ex-husband has always been a snob about his high IQ and has always been open about his disappointment that our children are academically average, but now he tells me he won’t be helping pay for college because, as he puts it “What’s the point?” FML

Regardless of the reason, his child support obligation has ended. That said, what an ash pole for talking about IQ, which is meaningless n the real world. I've knowM a "high IQ" dude who can't stay housed because paying rent is beyond him. And I know people who are obviously low IQ who have good jobs with benefits, happy families, pay their taxes, and have an IRA. So, in short, F him.

He's not wrong, but not for the reason you state. College has increasingly become a waste of money for most students.

That's for sure! Unless a student has an actual goal, like RN which pays >60 K per year in most hospitals right out of school, plus benefits, it's a waste. Can't make a living with a degree in Gender Studies or other such crap.
