Today, I brought back the puppy I adopted for my family. I spent months doing all the research on puppy care with two young children, and at least five hundred dollars for the dog, the supplies, toys… the whole lot. Turns out everyone's allergic to her. FML

Same thing different taste

Today, I splurged thousands of dollars on the breed of dog that I've loved since I was a kid from a reputable breeder. He is allergic to all food except the 24lb food for $70 and has sensitivities galore, including a seizure from a shot. I've spent $5,000 in vet bills in the first week. FML

Today, I got a puppy. I just found out I can't bring it on the family trip. To save me the trouble of finding a friend to take her in, my mum handed her back to the pound. FML

Today, it's my wife's birthday. Since I had work, I gave her $200 to spend on herself and left. When I came back with dinner and the movie she wanted, I found her with a dog. She is very attached to him because the shelter was going to put him down. I love him, but I'm allergic to dogs. FML

Today, I had to call social services after a couple once again brought their baby in with severe allergic reactions. His allergy? The family dog. These idiots would rather let their kid die than get rid of the stupid mutt. FML

Today, I found my dog, who had been missing for over a month, at the local pound. Clearly it was my dog, she responded to her name and cried when she saw me. However, the woman there told me I could not simply take her, I had to follow through with all policies. I paid $250 to adopt my own dog. FML

Today, my husband bought me a puppy. When my daughter got home I showed her the puppy, but all she said was, “Eww, I am not cleaning it or walking it.” She’ll make a fantastic mother one day, I’m sure of it. FML

Today, my roommate unexpectedly came home with a new puppy. I'm severely allergic to dogs. When I reminded her of this, she explained that the puppy was her family now and if I didn't like it I should move out because blood is thicker than water. My roommate is my sister. FML

Today, I finally decided to get a dog. I have always been wanting to get one ever since I was a child. I bought a $1,400 Golden Retriever. I went out for lunch a few hours later with a friend, so I left my dog in the backyard. I came back home to a broken fence and no dog. FML

Man, you people are haters. I'm sure nothing's ever slipped y'all's minds before. I understand why the OP forgot: if he or she's not allergic to anything, then checking for allergies wouldn't have crossed his or her mind. That really sucks about the dog.

You should have looked into dogs that are good for people with allergies. I know you probably didn't know, but as a first time dog owner it's always best to play it safe.

Well, there are medications people can take. However, it is possible the breeder or adoption center may take the puppy back still. Next time, try looking into hypoallergenic animals. :P Also, #6, try Siberian cats. An expensive and somewhat rare breed, but hypoallergenic!

Maybe it's like that Brady Bunch episode where they're really allergic to the dog's flea powder rather than the dog? I also remember hearing a while ago that if you give them a bath in distilled water (I dunno why it has to be distilled) once a week, it really helps with the allergies. But I don't know if that is an urban legend or not.
