Today, I tried a DIY face mask that involved using turmeric spice. After keeping it on for 20 minutes, I tried washing it off, but I couldn't get rid of the orange residue it had left behind. Guess who's going to work tomorrow looking like an Oompa Loompa. FML

Today, I made a homemade face mask with turmeric, honey, lemon, and a few other organic ingredients. I let the mixture sit, then washed it off. It stained my face so bright yellow I look like I’m either suffering from a terrible case of jaundice or auditing for a live action Simpson’s movie. FML
Today, I thought I could make my own skincare products from scratch, but I ended up with a weird, greasy concoction, which left a red mark on my hands. It's been two hours and the mark is still there, despite several washes. FML
Today, as I finished putting self tanner on my legs, the phone rang. Telemarketer. After returning to the bathroom I put moisturizer on my face. As I looked in the mirror, I soon realized I'd forgotten to wash my hands. My face is now streaky orange. FML
Today, and for the past few days, my skin has been all blotchy and messed up so I tried a new face mask that was supposed to peel off easily. It ended up sticking to my skin like glue. I spent hours in front of the mirror trying to peel it off, one painful sliver at a time. FML
Today, while looking for some self care, my cousin and I found a recipe for homemade face masks. We were vulnerable enough to try it and ended up with bright red faces instead. FML
Today, I got my make-up remover wipes mixed up with my sister's self-tan wipes. I am currently watching my face slowly turn orange and there is nothing I can do about it. FML
Today, I tried to dye my hair blonde using a DIY kit I found online. As I was washing out the dye, I realized my hair had turned bright orange. I had to wear a hat all day to avoid being seen in public with a Johnny Rotten fright-wig. FML
Today, I ate something really sticky so I had to wash my hands and mouth. I saw a tea towel on the bench so I was wiped myself with that. Then I noticed it smelt really bad. I had just cleaned my face with turps. FML
Today, I decided to try a self-tanning lotion my friend had recommended. I put it on, and decided to take a nap. I woke up later and checked myself in the mirror, expecting to see a new, more tanned version of myself. I didn't. I'm now orange. FML
Today, I decided to try a new hair removal cream. Turns out, I'm allergic to it. My face now looks like a tomato with eyebrows. FML

This is why you always test new products somewhere it won't be obvious if something goes wrong. But hey, at least you can crack some jokes out of this time!

Really? Putting tumeric spice on your hand for 20 minutes? I dunno, I feel like if you're buying a face mask in a proper place, you're kind of expecting it to just work, and while it could be good to test it, I highly doubt most people would have in OP's case..

Yes really, OP should have tested it because OP made it DIY and didn't buy it. A purchased mask would not have used spices known to cause staining but instead it would have used organics in a dry emulsion that's coating the fabric. Those don't stain and have been sterilized. He chose to used a bad idea in a DIY mask and gets dyed orange for his trouble.

That's true, but some people should still test bought ones also. It's not necessary because of what they put in it but just what your skin likes/doesn't like. I've had an allergic reaction to one from a store causing a red rash on my face, which made me look sunburnt in the middle of winter.

Well maybe the first part applies (you should test stuff on something that's not your face for sure, though most people don't) but they didn't do it "right before work", they did it the night before work. Most people work a majority of the time, and it would be unrealistic to wait til you had a vacation to do something like try a new face mask.

I agree with the baby oil and cold cream... If not something that has a bleaching effect like a benzoyl peroxide wash might help or that hair bleach Jolen or that Sally Hanson makes all are safe for skin.

At least its a funny story, your coworkers will probably laugh and make it a joke for awhile (hopefully a good natured one) and before long either you or one of them will do something else stupid enough to overshadow this and become the new joke. Such is life. Just go with it OP :) As far as FML moments go this one is more funny than ******.
