What did you do?
Today, I realized that my husband's family hates me for something I did 10 years ago. When I was 18. I’m so done apologizing for it. My daughter does not deserve to see her mother treated like this. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my eldest daughter has 'officially' removed herself from our family and will no longer communicate with any of us. Apparently it's my fault that her younger sister is having a baby before her, and she can't be part of a family that 'treats her so unfairly'. FML
Today, my soon-to-be step-daughter had as absolute meltdown at our rehearsal dinner, screaming that I ruined her family. Her parents were divorced 10 years before I even met him. Her mother was there because we’re friends. She’s 23 years-old. I honestly don’t know which one of us was more embarrassed. FML
Today, nine years on, my dad still hates my husband for "ruining" my life by getting me pregnant in my late twenties. FML
Today, I told my late husband's daughter that I have no interest in reconciliation because she was horrible to me the entire time we were married, and never once warmed up to me, no matter what I tried. Now she's telling everybody on social media that I really am an evil wicked witch stepmom. FML
Today, I tried to reconcile with my estranged father after learning that all the things my mom said were lies to turn me against him. He refused and told me that he has a new daughter and that I'm not part of the picture. I know I deserve it but… FML
Today, my mother came into my workplace to wail on me for "ruining our family's reputation" because I got a girl pregnant. I've been married to the "girl" for 8 years. FML
Today, my daughter's 14-year-old boyfriend confessed, in front of her, that he only went out with her so he might have a chance to date me. My daughter isn't speaking to me. FML
Today, my husband is threatening divorce because I loudly objected at his daughter's wedding and made a scene. His daughter is 19 and got married to a 40-year-old man. FML
Today, my husband and I sat our 10-year-old daughter down for a chat over her recent cursing. When my husband asked where she'd heard the words, she "innocently" replied, "from mommy's other boyfriend." He took her seriously, accused me of cheating, and hasn't been home since. FML
Today, my 21 year-old daughter sent me the longest, violent, most hateful text I've ever seen in my life. Apparently she opposes me marrying her best friend of 12 years. FML

"Something" can range from double-dipping your chip to pushing Grandpa down the stairs. Without knowing what it is, it's hard to say anything other than: Sounds like a shitty situation!

I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but the fact that you seem to be unwilling to even hint at what you did is kind of suspicious. Edit: Another commenter (LaLaLaila777) guessed that you may have had a baby as a teenager. They’re right—that’s NO reason to hate someone. I’m truly sorry if that (or something similar) is the reason that your in-laws hate you. To heck with them.

I believe that this point, his family are just using that as an excuse to hate on you. Do not put up with it... especially if it's affecting your daughter. Your husband should be putting a stop to it as well.

your speaking without knowing the actual reason they don't speak. op spoke little to no details here so I'm siding with the family on this one. if I chose to hate someone for something they did 10 YEARS AGO, it must be pretty serious. point blank

My husband's family still hates me fifteen years later for dyeing my hair red. My hair has not been red in a decade. But they still hate me because "red heads are ******" so I must have been sleeping around on my then-fiancé.

I'm assuming that you got pregnant at 18 and now have a 10 year old child, and that they consider you having a baby at 18 a reason to hate you. id have an open conversation about their behavior. you need to set strict boundaries on what is acceptable or unacceptable behavior, and clearly state it To them and your partner. for example, no talking negatively about me to my child or in my childs presence. if this boundary is crossed we will not be visiting (or having you visit) any longer because I'm feeling disrespected by that behavior. I'm sorry you're going through that, i was a young mom as well, enjoy your life and let those who wish to hate To go hate on themselves

Maybe they don’t have to see your husband’s family.
