Today, while shopping at American Eagle, I found the same "$1,500" wedding ring my fiancé proposed to me with, marked on sale for $10.95. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was out with my boyfriend, when he started browsing wedding rings. He found a ring, proposed to me right there in front of a crowd, and then was promptly denied a payment plan. We left without a ring. FML
Swoon
Today, my boyfriend said he wanted to marry me. Since he doesn't know my ring size, he asked for me to find a ring that I liked, and he would buy it and propose. The only problem is that he won't spend more than 200 dollars on it. Oh, the generosity. FML
Today, I found out that my beautiful engagement ring is a remake of the late Princess Diana's engagement ring. I also found out my fiancé bought it from an infomercial, for $19.95. FML
Today, my wife figured out I gave her a dollar store ring for our anniversary. FML
Is she better than me?
Today, I found out my boyfriend, who is buying me a ring for my birthday, is buying my best friend a ring that cost 10 times more than mine. FML
Today, I was shopping for rings with my fiancée. We spent over two hours selecting the perfect ring and diamond to match. When filling out the paperwork I discovered I left my wallet at home. She had to pay the 20% down payment for the ring. FML
How can I put this…?
Today, I went with my girlfriend to the mall. We were looking at jewellery in Zales and she came across the engagement rings. She looks at one and says, "Are you kidding me? That ring is hideous and it's the most expensive one here! Who the fuck would buy that?" Well, that would be me. FML
So romantic
Today, my boyfriend proposed to me with the prettiest, most simple ring I have ever seen. I called my sister to tell her the good news, and her response was, "I know. He had me steal the ring from Claire's." FML
Today, my boyfriend told me he's prepared to commit to marriage, but only if I buy my own ring and tell everyone he surprised me with it. FML
Today, my boyfriend won a diamond engagement ring through a citywide competition. Instead of proposing to me, he's selling it. FML

ok so a lit of ppl say why so materializing ad blah.... if a guy can't afford an engagement ring that's atleast a couple if hundred dollars because if a shitty job then get a promise ring. if he has a shitty job and can't afford it then maybe it's not the right time to get married and possibly start a family. its not the price it's the fact that if he can't afford at least a couple of hundred dollar ring then how will he be able to afford a family. my ring was $500!!!! he wanted a ring that was 1600$ but i chose the $500 one cuz I fell in love with THAT ring not in love with a $1600 price!

214 - I agree. I'm unlike most women in that I don't have a "dream wedding" planned out per se; I do have a few ideas of what I want, but it's not super extravagant like they show in movies or on TV. It doesn't have to be expensive; I know a couple who got married downtown in city hall! I know that's not the "dream marriage" everyone seems to want, but it's still a marriage. Throw a party after at a swanky hall or something to offset the "cheapness", if you want to call it that. There are options! Having a kid, however, will definitely be expensive and hard to deal with in these economic times... to all those wanting to get married, make sure you're positive you want to marry the man/woman you're with before you actually marry them. If you want to save money, avoid divorce. From what I hear, it's ridiculously expensive.

I think you mean "dream wedding". Also... you're talking about not having an expenisve wedding, but, to compensate, have a party at a "swanky hall". If you're "compensating" so that it isn't cheap... then it won't be cheap. Why do people insist on voicing their opinions when they haven't even thought them through? Is it that you crave attention?

everyone who is generalising and saying women are materialistic needs to shut up with the sexism. the cost of the ring isn't the point, the point is that he told a huge lie to make himself look good and make her feel like she owes him. if he'd been honest and told her he was broke shed have been happy with the honesty and the cheap ring- most women would. guys who pretend to be something they're not are bad news, its all a ploy to get a woman attatched to him before he reveals how unpleasant he really is. dump him now op!

Maybe it's a replica. Don't be so quick to judge! That said, being materialistic doesn't get you far.
