Today, while shopping at American Eagle, I found the same "$1,500" wedding ring my fiancé proposed to me with, marked on sale for $10.95. FML
Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was out with my boyfriend, when he started browsing wedding rings. He found a ring, proposed to me right there in front of a crowd, and then was promptly denied a payment plan. We left without a ring. FML
Swoon
Today, my boyfriend said he wanted to marry me. Since he doesn't know my ring size, he asked for me to find a ring that I liked, and he would buy it and propose. The only problem is that he won't spend more than 200 dollars on it. Oh, the generosity. FML
Today, I found out that my beautiful engagement ring is a remake of the late Princess Diana's engagement ring. I also found out my fiancé bought it from an infomercial, for $19.95. FML
Today, my wife figured out I gave her a dollar store ring for our anniversary. FML
Is she better than me?
Today, I found out my boyfriend, who is buying me a ring for my birthday, is buying my best friend a ring that cost 10 times more than mine. FML
Today, I was shopping for rings with my fiancée. We spent over two hours selecting the perfect ring and diamond to match. When filling out the paperwork I discovered I left my wallet at home. She had to pay the 20% down payment for the ring. FML
How can I put this…?
Today, I went with my girlfriend to the mall. We were looking at jewellery in Zales and she came across the engagement rings. She looks at one and says, "Are you kidding me? That ring is hideous and it's the most expensive one here! Who the fuck would buy that?" Well, that would be me. FML
So romantic
Today, my boyfriend proposed to me with the prettiest, most simple ring I have ever seen. I called my sister to tell her the good news, and her response was, "I know. He had me steal the ring from Claire's." FML
Today, my boyfriend told me he's prepared to commit to marriage, but only if I buy my own ring and tell everyone he surprised me with it. FML
Today, my boyfriend won a diamond engagement ring through a citywide competition. Instead of proposing to me, he's selling it. FML

I'm on both sides, he shouldn't have lied to you BUT it's the thought that counts, marriage is about love not money

I would be extremely pissed off if I found out my fiance' felt the need to lie to me about something as stupid as the price of my wedding ring. If they want to go really cheap on the ring that's fine, just don't like about it. That I would say is the real FML here and if that's your issue OP than FYL.

hi... yes, someone plz tell me that THIS http://pics.ae.com/is/image/aeo/0481_1217_013_f?$qv-450$ is an acceptable wedding ring... no sorry (and none of the othe AE rings looked that much better) try harder OP's fiancé or at least tell her u'll buy a better one later.

I get OP's point and yeah it sounds bad that he lied but maybe he really didn't have the money and he would be embarrassed by saying it was 10 dollars. Apparently OP didn't think it was cheap when she got it. Don't get too upset OP.

lol all I can say is sucks for all you poor mofos who can only afford a $15 ring. get better jobs and stop calling others materialistic just to make yourselves feel better about your crappy financial situation :)

I got a better idea. How about YOU get a job and buy your OWN ring? Then stop calling people cheap to feel better about how worthless you are.

Maybe the guy is trying to save up for a house, lost his job due to the economy, just got a better job after getting laid off, or has a good job but has student loans to pay off. There are a number of different situations to explain why the guy chose to get a cheap knock off of an expensive ring rather than buy the expensive one none of which have to do with him having a low paying job, that isn't to say that the guy could have a minimum wage job and have no desire to get a better job and the OP is engaged to a bum. So stfu your losing brain cells

The problem isn't the price of the ring, it's that he flat out lied about it. If he said something like "sorry babe, but this is all i can afford right now" then she would have been sort of shallow to get mad about it. But considering he tried to pass it off as a $1500 ring, then he's a jerk. Don't marry him OP, if he lied about something as dumb as this, then when you get married and have kids and REAL issues, he'll just get worse.
