Today, while riding my bike in the rain to a counselling appointment about my depression, my shoelace came untied and got caught around my pedal, causing me to go flying off my bike directly in a huge muddy puddle right in front of a busy street of people. No one offered to help me. FML
Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Don't mind me
Today, I was cycling home. On the way, my laces got stuck in the bicycle pedals and I couldn't move the foot that got stuck. The bicycle fell over, with me attached to it. Everyone was looking at me like, "What are you doing?" FML
Today, my tire blew while I was on the freeway. I had to change the tire in pouring rain while wearing short shorts and flip-flops. No one stopped to help, but several people politely honked as if to remind me of my misfortune. FML
Today, I embarrassed myself by screaming for help in a crowded mall when my shoelace got stuck at the top of the escalator. Someone behind me kicked the shoelace and it came out easily. FML
Nature is harsh
Today, I went biking. I attempted a large hill and lost control, slipped, and fell ten feet into a sewage pit. Riding home covered in crap, my sock caught my chain and I flipped over my bike. My dad had to spray me with the garden hose, bloody and shitty, in the front yard. FML
Today, while hurrying by bike to an appointment, my chain broke. I quickly got off the road and managed to fix it on the sidewalk, covering my hands in black smear. Dirty but confident about my repair skills, I got up. A second later, felt something warm running down my neck. Bird poop. FML
Today, while walking on the sidewalk with my boyfriend, I slipped and fell. Not only did he not help me get up or ask if I was okay, he got mad at me for embarrassing him in public. FML
Today, while riding my bike on the sidewalk, I came across a ladder. To avoid bad luck, I swerved around it into the street. I got hit by a car. FML
The main attraction
Today, I was walking on a rainy pavement in new shoes. Suddenly, I slipped, flailed my arms wildly, and landed flat on my back. The worst part? I was in front of a pub window. It was the middle of the day but still had people in it. Thankfully, no one applauded, because British people prefer to smirk in silence. A kid did give me a thumbs-up, which was nice. FML
Today, I was riding my bike to work in a hurry and hit a pothole. I flew off and hit the ground hard. I was badly shaken, but an old lady came over, checked me out and helped me to my feet. After she left the scene, I realized she'd pickpocketed my wallet while "helping" me. FML
Today, my hair got stuck in my umbrella. I asked for help from passers-by, but all I got was weird looks as they hurried past me. FML

I hope your day got better OP! Sometimes bad things happen but you just have to dust yourself off and keep your chin up.

Life has its way of giving us a rude awakening sometimes. Hope for the best but expect the worst.

Wow the universe can be cruel sometimes. Keep your chin up OP, things do get better ... Even if it seems like the world is standing in your way

In moments like that, the only way to feel better is to think about a worse case. Like, by example, that little chinese girl who got rolled over twice in a populous street, caught on video, and no one helped. Probably the saddest and most cruel thing I saw in my life.

It's kind of sad how people use other people's misfortunes to feel better about their life instead of doing something more positive to feel joy, such as making someone else smile... :( Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go read some more FMLs so I can forget my troubles.

I actually agree.

Yeah, that really does the opposite effect of making someone feel better to remember that..

People are assholes.

Just pick yourself up. Dont expect people to help because everyone has their own life and you must be strong. And because you have depression it might seem even more bleak. But don't worry; it will get better.

Thats the state of people these days. I bet loads of them took out their phones to film you though.

Bystander effect - the more people around to see something, the more the individual assumes someone else will help. I know this doesn't help you after the fact, but you can't take it personally.

Yeah, this. Not to mention, OP, on the street people are probably going about their own business and focused on that, not you. People in a hurry who'd otherwise stop to help might not notice that someone's in trouble.
