Today, while getting ready to welcome my first child into the world, my father in law decided to "help out" and threw out a bunch of papers I needed. Like my child's application for a health card, social insurance number, and my birth plan, as well as instructions from my doctor. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I happily announced to my parents that I'm pregnant. My dad later handed me a printout containing a list of nearby abortion clinics. FML
Today, my mother decided to "help me" by throwing out the stack of papers on my desk. Unfortunately, those were all my notes for my final exams. FML
Get out
Today, I gave birth to my firstborn child. Somehow, my mom and mother-in-law made their way to the delivery room, and walked in mid-push. While they were escorted out, I overheard my mother-in-law asking the nurse how her son, my husband, was holding up. FML
Today, my mom asked me to take my dad's mail to him. The "mail" was divorce papers. FML
Entitled much?
Today, despite being the first to hold all my other grandchildren, despite my son and bitch of a daughter-in-law agreeing I would be the first, I showed up at the hospital to see my daughter-in-law's father holding my grandchild before me. FML
Welcome to the world!
Today, I helped deliver the baby belonging to the woman my husband left me for. FML
Bad memory
Today, I was met with an unfortunate clerical error, receiving a letter from WIC with a cheery handwritten note instructing me to call when the baby arrives. I guess they forgot I was there four months ago to discuss the changes in benefits after a miscarriage. FML
Respect
Today, my mother-in-law took a phone message on the back of my marriage license. FML
Rollercoaster ride of emotions
Today, I went to my dad's workplace because my sister was there and I wanted to see my newborn niece. I was overjoyed until my dad came up to me. It had apparently been pretty hectic for the past week, because he was on the verge of another stress-induced heart attack. Yes, another. We had to help him outside. FML
Today, I had to leave my ACT prep class ten minutes in to pick up my drunken father from his best friend's baby shower. I picked him up along with a bill for the damage. FML

You go throw him out in return.

I'm not above digging through trash if necessary. Get them before they are gone forever.

He probably doesn't want the kid to be crippled by socialism by cutting his dependence on the nanny state right away. That Ayn Rand causes people to do crazy shit.

Andrew Ryan

#13, WTF? Are you eating some Portabella relatives?
SammyS2012 21
13- No, I think he means Ayn Rand... Look her up
Trish01 23
#13, I guess you're thinking of the character Andrew Ryan from the Bioshock games. Ayn Rand is one of the people on whom the character was based. Maybe take a little time off the video games and read a little.

Ooo it's gonna get ugly now!!

This was no accident I doubt those papers just HAD to be throw out unless you left them with a bunch of other unimportant ones. even so they couldn't have been in the way that much.

All that can be replaced. Just be the best mother to your child you can be and all will be well.
queerdragon 20
That has to be the worst advice I have seen in a long time. They cannot be easily replaced. She needs to know that information so she is not charged exorbitant amounts of money from the hospital. On top of that, being a mother is about worrying.

So am I right in saying that a baby needs a health card and documents etc pre-birth to prevent "exorbitant costs" to the mother? (This is alien to me as a Brit!)

I hate in laws...
kurodansei 16
I prefer out laws
Fernando83 19
You say this because you hate yours?
Fernando83 19
He's an idiot for not consulting with you. However, you should opt to use less paper and do things digitally.

Thus putting me out of a job. Don't listen to 19!

Normally on FML, stepfathers are douches most of time. So if you have anything in the past with your step father, then he may have done it on purpose. But it also could have been an accadent. Depends on his face and how good a liar he is when you question him about it. But what I say is FYL
Welshite 40
You're new, so I'll be easy on you. There is no step-father mentioned in this FML.

#24, also, #23 missed out on a chance to use the beloved "douche canoe." People love that for some reason.
Axipiter 24
I prefer the lesser known "douche kayak". But to each their own.

Douche canoe. Come on say it out loud, you gotta admit it flows together beautifully :)

How the hell could anyone click on "YDI" for FML like these? The situation was completely out of OP's hands and it wasnt her fault at all.
ILoveMyArm 15
Well it could be that it was an accidental click or they are just major assholes who think everybody deserves everything they get.
Axipiter 24
OR... And I'm going out on a limb here, I actually know people like this, but there can't be that many... "YDI for procreating". I've since disassociated myself from said people.
Trish01 23
Or, maybe OP left these important documents lying around loose in a messy way instead of keeping them securely in a folder somewhere. They would've deserved it a little then. I went for FYL though.

What a jerk. You don't throw out other people's papers. I'd say thanks for cleaning but don't ever do it again.
