Today, while discussing my grades with my mother, she told me that when she was my age she was dumb but hardworking, and my dad was lazy but very smart. She then added, "You managed to get the worst out of each of us." FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, in front of the entire family, I yelled at my mom and told her she wasn't a good parent. She responded with, "Well, at least I had friends when I was your age." FML
Real Housewives coded
Today, just because my mum's friend's son got better grades than me, she's now treating me like shit. You know what lady? His mom is way better than you too! She didn't attempt to kill her child half a dozen times, and you don't see me complaining about it all day long. FML
Today, the mother of one of my students bitched me out about her son's poor grades. He lazes around all day, paying no attention and being a constant nuisance. But, she says it's not his fault, and demands that I give him better grades so he won't get "self-esteem" issues. FML
Supportive
Today, once again, my mom ranted about how she sacrificed so much for me by moving to a better city. I said it was for my education and to stop making me feel like a burden. She scoffed, "Right, you never should've been born. My mistake." FML
Grammie!
Today, after having spent years staying in school, working hard to achieve good grades, and avoiding all the bad kids, my mom accused me of having no direction in life and complained about how I haven't given her a grandchild yet. I'm 19. FML
Today, my philosophy teacher asked me about my parents. I replied that my mum was a cleaner and my dad was a bus driver. In an astonished voice, she said, "But, you're clever..." FML
Today, my mother looked me dead in the face and said, "I have failed as a parent." FML
Today, I was listening to my son's teacher gossip about students whilst in the grocery store. I was thrilled when she described my son as "A model student". However, she then went on to say, "Which is surprising considering that his parents are trailer trash." FML
Today, my mom said I was the worst of her 5 children. My IQ is 130, an honor student, I don't smoke, I don't drink alcohol, or do drugs. I'm the "worst" because I don't go to church every Sunday. FML
Grades go both ways
Today, I was scolding my 8 year-old son because he was getting bad grades in school. I told him that he should get straight "A"s like his friend Ceejay. He told me that comparing him to Ceejay was unfair. When I asked why, he said, "Because his dad is actually smart." FML

Don't you just love supportive mothers?

Well if those were her back to words of encouragement then her own self-description appears entirely accurate. God love her she's trying hard to be supportive and meant well.

I actually understand what that means. My sister doesn't work hard at all to make good grades, while I had to get tutored and study like a slave! However, she can't lift a finger to clean or do anything like that to save her life. On the other hand, I can do almost any kind of hard labor.

Well by the sounds of it you have a fulfilling future in fast food so those manual labour skills should come in handy.

you are a douche bag, Bob. and I would never work for your shitty lawn service. I made great grades. I just had to work harder than my sister. and FYI, a school drop-out can beat a college graduate through hard work.

It was a douche bag comment and I apologise. What seemed like an amusing if somewhat meanspirited joke at the time just looks a little less amusing in the cold light of dawn.

That was pretty harsh, but you're not dumb at all. If your profile is correct, you are a Brazilian, therefore English is not your first language. Yet, you managed to write this FML in English, and did so very well. That can only mean you're very smart or you had someone write it for you, and I highly doubt the ladder.

At least you're not dumb, lazy, and fat, that weird suck!

You should prove her wrong!

Because calling your child lazy and dumb is always the best motivator. FYL, OP.

Wow, at first sight that was really mean from your mother. If she has hurt your feelings because of that then I think it's time for some heart to heart conversation (when you're up to it). But bare in mind maybe she didn't want to hurt you, parents are as human as their children and they make mistakes too. I still have those kind of conversations with my mother: 'what did you mean when you said .... because it sounded really hurtful to me. And then my mother goes:'oh no, I didn't want to hurt you, I just meant ...' So don't worry too much about it.

So much for supportive parents sorry OP. But I know the feeling I got the worst traits from my parents too
