Today, while at a store, my stuttering problem became so bad the poor store clerk had to supply my own words for me. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I decided to work on my social anxiety by ordering some food. I waited in line, practicing my order in my head all the way. When I got to the front, I said my order with no mistakes. The cashier just stared blankly at me until I mumbled, "Never mind..." and left. FML
Today, a customer punched me in the face for repeating their order back to them because they thought I was making fun of their speech impediment. I have the same speech impediment. FML
Today, I waited in line at a drive-through behind a man for ten minutes. I got out of my car, cursed at him, and then asked him to give me one good reason why it would take that long to order. The man slowly explained to me that he had a stutter. FML
Lazy ableism
Today, I gave a presentation. My teacher deducted points because I "need to learn how to speak more confidently, because you often stumble over your words." I have a stutter. FML
Working here sucks
Today, while at work, a customer refused to speak louder, despite me asking her to do it several times. As a result, I took her order incorrectly. The customer then finally decided to raise her voice, but only to yell at me about my poor listening skills. FML
Today, I realized I'm so socially awkward that I can't even talk to Siri without stuttering. FML
Face your fears
Today, I was standing in line at a burger joint, facing my social anxiety and practicing my order in my head so I wouldn’t mess it up. When it was finally my turn, I panicked and said, “One large confidence, please.” The cashier just handed me a straw. FML
Today, I got a phone call from a number I didn't recognize. It was a man with a speech impediment, and I began imitating him. He was the manager of a store I applied at. He wanted to arrange an interview. FML
Frustrated
Today, I have a stutter that gets worse with stress. We got a new supervisor today and the first thing she said to me was, “Either spit it out or write it in an email, for fuck's sake!” I’m now so scared of her, I go almost mute if we’re in the same room. FML
I hate this job
Today, I forced myself into work with severe laryngitis. Normally this wouldn't be an issue, except I work at candy and ice cream store at a major tourist destination. For seven hours I had to communicate with unsympathetic adults and screaming, bratty kids by miming and using a dry erase board. FML

I'm sorry :( I have a slight stutter myself that gets worse with stress, and it doesn't help when cranky customers yell at me cause they can't understand me.

Sorry OP, I actually feel for you. Hopefully you overcome it... And this should be a wake up call to the people socially awkward. OP stutters but that doesn't stop him from communicating, sometimes look through another perspective and see how easy you guys have it.

51 - Go ahead, put some more exclamation marks into that comment, I deserve it. Oh, yes, I've been naughty. While you're at it, you might want to go and update your knowledge on popular culture, it's not all rappers and pop-stars.

You have my sympathy

See now, violence is never the answer. However, If a customer was that selfish and rude, that's a perfect example of a time where it's okay to give somebody a roundhouse square in the jaw.

Yay for roundhouse kicks!!

Oh man, I know how you feel, i have the same problem. What I do is start out big, like a yell, so i can get the first words out, and try to talk more slowly, it certainly helped me.

A friend of mine found out recently that if he puts his hands in his sides and pushes down a little, his stutter practically vanishes. Might be worth trying too, OP :)
123man 11
It might work for a short time... but the end result could be a new non-speaking thing he does every time he talks. The stutter will return but now he'll have a new habit of holding his sides in a strange way. I'm a life-long stutterer who would love to get back to the point of r-r-repititions instead of the abnormal things I do instead.
PostItSticker 11
Did he stock up enough of ur sentences for u?
HonestTruth 5
At least she helped, other people would have smirked and tried not to laugh at the situation.
Isoldael 27
I would be reluctant to help. I know several people with a stutter who only get mad when you try to finish words or sentences for them, and I wouldn't want to offend anyone :s
123man 11
Most of us people who stutter don't usually appreciate people finishing our sentences for us. Every once in awhile it's nice, but too often the finished sentence isn't exactly what I wanted to say and then I'm left with someone elses words instead of my own.
luccmon 6
I've also heard it doesn't help, especially in children with speech impediments it can actually make the problem worse. Or they'll depend on people or siblings finishing their sentences.
