Today, was my 16th birthday. Needless to say, I was delighted when my friends presented me with a birthday card in a homeroom. I pretended to be surprised and exclaimed, "Aw, you guys really shouldn't have!" They didn't. It was our teacher's birthday. They just wanted me to sign the card. FML

Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, it was my birthday and everyone in the office chipped in to buy me a card, and nothing but a card. It had a pre-written message on it and a space to write "Love, *insert name*" where everyone signed their names. The "Love" was crossed out and replaced with "From". FML
Today, my friends threw me a surprise birthday party. I was genuinely surprised—and also genuinely hungover from celebrating my birthday alone the night before because they'd all told me they were busy. FML
Today, everyone was signing a birthday card to surprise a coworker. I was told to go find someone who hadn't signed it so I went to the office next to mine, opened the door, and told them about the card. The intended recipient was sitting behind the door. FML
Today, I got a birthday card from my parents. It was my sister's from earlier in the year. They scratched out her name and wrote mine underneath. FML
Today, my friends threw me a surprise birthday party. The problem? My birthday is tomorrow. I spent the entire evening pretending I was surprised and happy, all while knowing they got the date wrong. FML
Today, I took my friends out to an expensive restaurant for my birthday treat. They had arranged for a surprise birthday cake for me which I cut, very happily, while they chanted birthday wishes. When the bill came, I discovered I was supposed to pay for my great 'surprise' cake. FML
Today, it was my co-worker's birthday but she told me not to mention it. Feeling bad for her, I went out to buy her a card, a present, and even a small cake. It turns out that there was actually a party during our lunch break, and I was the only one in our office not invited. FML
Today, it's my birthday, and I was going over to my friend's house for dinner. When I walked in, everyone yelled, "Surprise!" and then turned on the lights. When my friend looked over at me, she said, "Wrong person guys, turn off the lights." FML
Today, my husband and kids apparently forgot my birthday. I was so happy at first because I have always hated my birthday, and thought it could just be another day on the calendar. No. They planned and threw a massive surprise party for me when I got home from work. FML
Today, I found out that my work threw me a birthday party alongside my coworker’s birthday. Said coworker spread a rumor, telling everyone that I wanted each person to buy me flowers and cake. Everyone thought that I was a weirdo for asking for those things from them. I wasn't at work today. FML

That does kinda suck, although I do think that is a nice thing for your friends to do for your teacher. Who knows, maybe it's the only happy birthday your teacher will get. I hope you had a happy birthday anyway!

It could have been worse, it could have been your mom who sat in pain in labor with you. Now that would suck. I don't remember most peoples birthdays besides my family's. But it sucks to be forgotten :(

Happy Birthday! I know the feeling, for my sweet sixteen, my parents made me bake my own cake, and then complained that I didn't put the icing on thick enough... wish I knew about FML back then...

the exact same thing happened to me last year. it was my birthday and another girl's birthday and one of my good friends came up to me with a balloon. i said thanks and took it, then, with a confused look, she handed me a sharpie and told me to write happy birthday to elizabeth. nice. later that day, my friend elizabeth ran out of room in her locker for presents and asked me if she could put some in my empty locker. then we sang happy birthday to her in every single class. worst birthday ever.

It's okay, my birthday last year sucked too. I had marching band rehearsal all day and a competition that night, in which we were beaten by the school we hoped (and expected) to beat. I was screamed at all day by my colorguard instructor, and then got called a drama queen when I got upset. To top it all off, this one guy in the marching band would get the whole band to stop in the middle of the practice and sing for whoever's birthday it was, which had happened 3 or 4 times already. He knew it was my birthday. They didn't sing to me. Oh, and the guy I've liked for two years didn't wish me a happy birthday either. All around it just sucked.
