Today, two days after leaving hospital with a broken left leg, I tripped and fell heavily on the floor. My dad quickly asked if I'd broken my other leg. When I reassured him that I hadn't, he disappointedly muttered that it would've been a hilarious story to tell his friends at work. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my dad picked me up from school, something he'll be doing while my broken leg heals. He thought it'd be hilarious to arrive early and ask the staff where his "crippled" son was, loudly saying I'd broken my leg in a "masturbation-related accident". FML
Unbelievable
Today, I slipped and fell down the stairs, landing hard on my knee. Through my screams of agony, my mom accused me of exaggerating the pain, and said I was just being an attention seeker, before finally taking me to hospital. I was told my leg was broken. She refused to apologize. FML
Agony
Today, I fell down the stairs and landed heavily on my foot. Because I wasn't crying, my mom refused to take me to the hospital. It took me an hour of agony to convince her. It turned out to be broken in three different places. FML
Today, I broke my leg while trying to show my friend how I broke my other leg. FML
Today, after a stay at the hospital for two broken legs, I finally got home and attempted to relax. My dad went to hand me the remote and dropped it right on my nuts. FML
Schadenfreude
Today, I tripped and fell down some stairs at a family gathering. Instead of making sure I was OK, everyone laughed at me. Including my quadriplegic uncle, who asked his personal support worker to lift his arm just so he could point and laugh with everyone else. FML
Today, I was hanging out with my friends when I tripped and a chair rolled over my foot, breaking a bone. A friend, who didn't believe me, then dogpiled on top of me and laughed as I screamed. FML
Today, my father tripped over the dog and hit a wall. He was so convinced his arm was broken that we waited for 3 hours in emergency to find out he had a bruise. FML
Cheer up!
Today, while trying to comfort my little brother who just injured his leg, I tripped and sprained my ankle. At least he was amused. FML
Today, I slipped walking down the stairs. My mom thought I sprained my right ankle. In her haste to get me to the doctor, she grabbed me and accidentally tripped me. I broke my left ankle. The right one was fine. FML

At least you didn't break your other leg.

Your dad was most likely just playing don't take it to heart. Be thankful you didn't break anything.

OP is a girl...

Am I the only one who thinks "butthole" doesn't sound like a halfway decent insult anymore? I can't even take it seriously, because I don't think I've heard anyone use it in the last 10 years.

What's wrong with buttholes anyway? Without them, life would suck!

Calm down, people. His dad was obviously kidding. He's not an inconsiderate asshole, he's just a father who made a bad joke. All dad's do it.

This is FML. "Calming down" is generally not an option. Welcome, and enjoy the chaos!

Clearly, your dad should be a comedian, just make sure to tell him to break a leg before he goes on stage. If he doesn't comply, lend him a hand. Remember, it's only so he has more hilarious stories for his set. ;)

I find it rather amusing that your dad would be willing to shell out a lot more money for hospital bills, just to have a good joke to tell. Now that's dedication!

I wonder her dad works in the construction industry lol

Unlike in the States; We (Australia) have Medicare. Typically 100% of in- hospital fees are paid for by health funds:)
Axipiter 24
As are most countries' hospital bills. It's a shame the US hasn't gotten on board with that yet, but it SEEMS like they're trying...

your pay check got taxed by government a lot right
green2go 14
It because in the states we have people who cheat the system and every one else doesn't want to pay for there lazy asses

Your dad is right. Too bad you only came back from the hospital with a cast. You should have picked up a sense of humour while you were there.
Welshite 40
Well now that he has a cast, all he needs is a crew and he could have his very own sitcom.
