Today, the school I applied to work for told me they were not going to schedule an interview. Why? Because they think my papers and name are fake. My name is Seymour Skinner. I’m not joking. FML

Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, while working in a customer service call center, a customer berated me for using a fake name. He said my name is "too stupid" to be real and that no sane person would ever use it. It was my real name. FML
Today, while applying for jobs, every single application has been giving me the error message, "Name not valid." Sorry the name my parents gave me isn’t good enough. FML
Today, I got screamed at to the point of tears by a Starbucks employee for "giving an obviously fake name" to confuse one of the employees. I told her my real name. My name is Ian. FML
Today, I went to the bathroom after a terrible job interview. My interviewer walked in with another guy, talking about my interview, saying he was obviously going to hire the other guy because my odd-sounding name was too hard to pronounce, yet alone spell in multiple emails. FML
Today, I was turned down for a job because they thought I lied about having a six-month internship. Why? The secretary I told off for stealing my lunch every single day told them she hadn't heard of me, and the new company won't listen. FML
Today, I got a call about a job interview, saying I was hired. I was ecstatic, until they called me back and said they'd called the wrong applicant. They called again later, saying there'd been a mistake and I really was hired. When I went in to confirm it, they said they'd never heard of me. FML
Today, I found out the reason I can't get a job. My previous employer didn't know my name, so when places I applied to called there for a reference, my boss said he had no recollection of me working there. FML
Today, I accidentally put down the wrong year for my university graduation, so when my prospective boss was checking my references he found no mention of my name in that year's list of graduates. He accused me of faking my qualifications and refused to hire me. It was a 6-figure salary. FML
Today, I got rejected for a job because they claimed I faked my entire resume. Their excuse? I'm too pretty to be smart. FML
Today, I got a call from a really great company that I applied to work for, asking me to come in for an interview. When I went in, they had no appointment scheduled and no idea who I was. It turned out it was all a prank by my brother and his friends. My brother is 30. FML

Go to the institution. Walk into the office with your id in hand and a copy of whatever letter/email they sent you. Slap your id down on the desk and say "im Seymour Skinner and i wanna see whoever the ***** in charge around here" then when you get to talk to said person call them out for disrespecting you for by calling your name fake. They may apologize and give you an interview if your lucky. good luck op.

Oh well. You'll just have to soldier on. And then when you return to try again in a decade or two, you'll find someone else with your name has been hired in your place, you'll be tied to a chair, and made to leave town on a flatbed train cart.

I applied for a job left the application a the service desk walked out came back to add a second phone number and they tossed it in the trash because of my name.....Assholes

Yeah names can hurt emploment. Legally changing it my be exspensive, if you are still in school speak with the psychologist and academic advisor about getting a sit down with your parents about paying for a legal name change that won't hurt job prospecs.
