Not only did I have to chase her when she ran after a stranger on the road, I turned my back for 5 seconds to do my actual job and she walked off. Today, I took a day off from work for a doctor's appointment. It ended up taking a lot longer than I expected, because while I was on my way, my mom called to inform me that my great aunt passed away this morning. As a result, I showed up extremely late and was berated. And the worst part? It's my birthday. FML

I would like to know how the op is shallow? The lady is dead and there is nothing they can do about it. However the op still is alive and needs to pay their bills and eat. What if they were depending on the payment to buy groceries or pay their rent?

Yes. I know, it's sad the lady died, I'd be upset too. However this was also this persons job, and they probably needed the money. how do we know that this was THE first thought to cross their mind, just because the FMLs are formatted to include today?
