Today, the mother of one of my students bitched me out about her son's poor grades. He lazes around all day, paying no attention and being a constant nuisance. But, she says it's not his fault, and demands that I give him better grades so he won't get "self-esteem" issues. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Real Housewives coded
Today, just because my mum's friend's son got better grades than me, she's now treating me like shit. You know what lady? His mom is way better than you too! She didn't attempt to kill her child half a dozen times, and you don't see me complaining about it all day long. FML
Nice parents you've got there…
Today, one of my fourth-graders came up to me and asked, "Can you please not put my test grades in the weekly folders? My mom likes to get mad when I get below a 90." FML
Pampered
Today, I had to place a call home because a student was late every single day. The mom rudely replied, “Yeah well she doesn’t really like getting up in the mornings. Can’t you just wait and start class like 30 minutes later?” Now I have to have a conference with this spoiled brat and her mother. FML
Student becomes the master
Today, my son's "favorite" teacher went on a tirade criticizing my "awful" parenting. About two months ago, my son got her fired after he reported her to the principal for forcing him to miss out on lunch to finish a project. Apparently, that wasn't the first time she did something like that. FML
Narcissist Mom
Today, my coworker was going on and on about how her son was nice and got good grades but that she needed to find him a therapist because he's too shy in class, and how she didn't want her friends to think badly of her. She's a counselor. I sat in silence for almost an hour, because all I could think was, "WTF? Poor kid." FML
Today, I was listening to my son's teacher gossip about students whilst in the grocery store. I was thrilled when she described my son as "A model student". However, she then went on to say, "Which is surprising considering that his parents are trailer trash." FML
Grades go both ways
Today, I was scolding my 8 year-old son because he was getting bad grades in school. I told him that he should get straight "A"s like his friend Ceejay. He told me that comparing him to Ceejay was unfair. When I asked why, he said, "Because his dad is actually smart." FML
Today, my son was smart enough to hack the school's computers to change his midterm, but isn't smart enough to actually keep his grades up. FML
The root
Today, I got a lecture from my mother about how bad my stress has been, how I have to treat myself better and do something with my life. She still doesn't realize that most of the cause of my stress has been from her berating me about how stressed out I am. FML
Today, while discussing my grades with my mother, she told me that when she was my age she was dumb but hardworking, and my dad was lazy but very smart. She then added, "You managed to get the worst out of each of us." FML

If she is as stupid as she sounds, like her kid, just tell her there is a new grading system. An F actually stands for Fantastic. She will buy it for sure.

Yesterday, when I was in the grocery store, some woman was berating her daughter for getting better grades than the son, because "it makes your brother feel stupid."

Tell her the folks that are foolish enough to hire him can do them. Tell her if he needs a social pick-me-up transfer him out of your class.

She needs a wake up call. She can't seriously go to you and expect you to give her son special treatment; you've already done your job. You go to class and yeah the lesson, you don't control who's actually listening, and learning; you control what is taught. If she wants her kid to get better grades she should get off he ass and parent, it's her job to make sure he's got his homework done if he's so incapable of doing it himself, that's her job! Being willing to tell someone else to give you kid a free ride through school, instead of parenting him and saying smarten up and buckle down is pathetic. It's going to come back and bite her when he's 30 and still living at home cuz he learned to be too lazy to do anything for himself because she was too lazy to parent.

People like that need to have a special class.... called parenting.

It's not your fault he gives 0 ***** about his own grades. If he refuses to give any effort, why should you? His mother needs to be a better parent and not threaten you so that he can get easy grades. Other kids have to work for theirs, why should he be the exception? What's she gonna do when he's older and starts working? Threaten his bosses too when they fire him or cut his hours?

Sadly, this is the world we live in now.

Be tough on him. Trust me. Make him hate you. Tell him he'll fail. He'll try and do better to prove you wrong.

It use to be the students fault, but now "my teacher hates me, is out to get me" is the standard. Some how it is the teachers fault. Now there are bad teachers. Like the ones who just give out packets all day, and does teach.

My brother used to pull that "my teacher hates me" crap. My mom catered to him and changed his classes when he did that and then schools. Finally, in high school he was moved to the "alternative" school (for drop outs and such) and still couldn't graduate. I, on the other hand, knew I had to work hard to get good grades and graduate. Now he can't keep a job and barely keeps food on the table, where as I have a steady job, house, family, and even went to college. He truly is a product of this kind of parenting.

Tell him " I'm sure you'll be asking his future employer for a raise when he goofs off likewise, on a side note, are you still wiping his ass for him?"
